How involved and costly is the process of proving that the ride is safe? I fully realize from the extensive discussion on the subject that the same make and model coaster is operated with a lower height requirement at multiple locations, but is that in itself adequate, or is some actual "testing" required?

Club TPR is Coming in March!
Mechanic replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's even cooler than the "regular" TPR pen I have sitting on the desk right in front of me. (That I use ALL THE TIME) -
I registered just under a month ago and was a little nervous about having waited that long. I wouldn't want to miss WCB for just about anything. We've only been coming to the event for the past couple years, but they have honestly been some of the best theme park experiences we've had anywhere. My kids are so spoiled by TPR ERT that they half sigh every time we plan on going to park for a "regular" visit. Q-bots help a lot for sure, but they're no substitute for the TPR experience.

They actually have found a way. Haven't you seen the TPR Hoodie movies? -

OMG! Robb is the smoke monster! I knew it! Now the clubhouse burning down with no alarms going off makes WAY more sense. -

I was in the relatively small group that was on the fence and, in my case at least, leaning toward not joining Club TPR because many of the benefits initially discussed seemed like they may not be things that I'd be able to take advantage of. As more and more comes out about all the hard work you're doing to make this as beneficial to everyone as possible, I find myself warming up to Club TPR much more than I did to begin with. So much so in fact that I do plan to get the family membership once all the details are finalized. TPR has provided my family, and some of our lucky friends, with some absolutely great park experiences. I feel it's only right to support a site, and group of people, that does SO much to make sure their members have an awesome time. I'm looking forward to hearing even more details soon, and to signing up for Club TPR as soon as we can. Like everything you do, I'm sure it will be great! -
The growing pains the park is going through are definitely obvious and unsightly, but I do agree with Hector's take on it costing jobs and profits, and that it's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. I understand the idea behind closing the park to get it all done more quickly and behind the scenes, but I would personally rather deal with the walls, and some of the spoiled views, to still be able to take in the attractions that I do enjoy in the park.

Thanks Robb and Joey. I will try calling the park. If anything pops up in the meantime, please let me know. As for Club TPR, I've got to say that while I initially thought it may not provide that many benefits that I, personally, would be able to use, I've been very impressed with the recent update I saw detailing what you're working on with different parks. I have changed my tune and will become a family member of Club TPR once all that individual/family stuff is sorted out. As always, I'm deeply appreciative of all the hard work you guys do for all of us.

My son and I will be going to USH the Friday before WCB. I've looked around for discount coupons and so far all I've found that would be helpful for a one day visit is this one pictured below. A search here on TPR lead me to a RideWorld $15 discount for USH that was set up for WCB '06, but that offer has of course long since expired. Does anyone happen to know of any other promotions that may be available? In addition, for those familiar with the crowd levels at USH, do you think Front-Of-The-Line passes would be all that necessary for a Friday in March? Thanks in advance for any input.

I learned that filling the handlebars of a motorcycle with expanding foam significantly reduces the vibration transmitted through the bars.

Best attraction ever?

I realize these are meant to be amusing, but please don't try spinning a merry-go-round excessivley fast as shown in a couple of examples in this thread. Some of you may remember the incident where a teenage girl was killed in Northern California a few years ago in just such a stunt gone wrong. The girl that was killed was the daughter of a good friend of mine. The family is still devastated. I don't mean to be a buzzkill, and I'm sure most people would never try some of these sillly stunts, but it's worth bearing in mind that what may seem like fun could in fact be quite deadly. Many people, and young people in particular, often don't have a firm enough grasp of the laws of physics to realize what could happen to them. -
QFT! He was awesome.

I always enjoy the Bebes take on, well on just about anything. Glad you enjoyed the Giant Dipper. It's one of my favorites too. I hope we see you two again soon. Maybe WCB?
