  1. Stadiums, especially new and state of the art ones, can also play host to multiple events during the year such as Monster Truck shows, concerts, Supercross races, etc. With the kind of outrageous prices they charge for parking at those types of events, I could see a struture easily being economically viable. To think that the only patrons of a parking structure would be seasonal park goers and those attending 8 regular season football games is simply not accurate. Those other streams of revenue would have to be considered. Over time, I'm certain a parking structure could pay for itself and generate a profit.
  2. The check is in the mailbox for the mail man to pick up tomorrow. Hopefully you'll have it by the end of the week. Looking forward to BAB!
  3. By "chuck a wheel" you mean just the urethane coating on the wheel blistering or peeling, right?
  4. It's not as if they allow you to park for free.
  5. I can still remember when Colossus looked so huge and imposing while driving by on I-5. It's amazing how times change. Thanks for the old photos.
  6. If Cedar Fair were smart, instead of throwing up resistance to the new stadium (which I think is likely to be built despite the park's objections) they could partner with the developers for a parking structure and offer before or after game specials. They could have signs in the satdium and parking structure indicating that new rides and attractions are "coming soon" to entice visitors that have grown weary of the park to visit again. They might actually be able to increase traffic and profits within the park. Oh, wait... That makes too much sense to ever really happen. Sorry. Carry on. Mech- I'm burned out on the same old CGA -anic
  7. Operating the rides at less than peak efficiency can't hurt the Flash Pass sales though.
  8. I remember, I think his name was Jeff, at Knott's, during the WCB management presentation, relating a similar story of some guests complaining that portions of their Haunt were too scary. To which he replied, "That's like going to a steak house and saying, Ooh... My steak is too delicious".
  9. God, that made me laugh out loud, and I've never even been to WDW to know what you're talking about.
  10. I have also been instructed to stand by crowd control cast members during the fireworks at Disneyland. This was during visits when we chose to be in the more crowded viewing area directly in front of the castle. Given the fact that we usually go to the DLR in June or July when the summer crowds are in full swing, it could be a policy that depends on exactly how crowded the viewing areas are on any particular day. In fairness, I have also watched the show while sitting, but from less coveted viewing areas that did not provide as direct a view. As for WoC, I was pretty excited for it during the initial announcements and while checking in on construction updates, but the more I see of the testing videos the less impressed I am. I hope that the show is better in person than it looks so far. Seeing the story play out with the projections and clearly hearing the music should be a much different experience than what we're getting from the videos. I'm much more of a rides person than a show person, but I do still enjoy a good show and will go out of my way to see the major shows most of the time. The handling of the logistics on this particular show sounds like an absolute nightmare. I can only hope they come up with some better solutions than what we're hearing so far. That said, I can see where the first several weeks, or maybe even months, of this show could be a real headache, but once the novelty wears off and it settles into a "normal" mode of operation I would hope they could get a handle on operating it while creating a minimum of inconvenience for the guests. I certainly hope that completely shutting down the other attractions of PP is only temporary. While I'm certain I'll take in the show at some point, it will likely be later rather than sooner.
  11. With modern engineering design technology and techniques being what they are, it seems nearly incomprehensible that an entire seat could simply fall off of a coaster train. I know there was speculation earlier that it could have been just seat padding, but it hardly seems they'd need to disassemble an entire train and x-ray the components if that were the case. I'd really be interested to know exactly what fell off. For example: A seat base, or portion therefore? Or... The entire arm that comprises the complete seat assembly, including the restraint? If it's the latter, that is just INCREDIBLY scary.
  12. Grizzly makes for a good nap.

  14. That caption thing is pretty funny. It's nice to know that Robb "never uses a blackout on ministers".
  15. I try not to judge rides based on POVs, but this one looks freaking awesome. I'm not sure how I'd handle airtime like that, having never experienced it before.
  16. I'm not so sure about that. Disneyland has had that horrible mint julep forever and somehow its disgusting taste is part of the magic, rather than something that detracts from it.
  17. I absolutely can't wait for the next installment of Hoodie the Movie. There's quite a bit of cool and creative stuff shared here by members of the site, but the Hoodie movies top my list.
  18. Splash in a shot of butterscotch shnapps and it may end up being more along the lines of what Rowling originally intended. Disclaimer: I am in no way suggesting anyone should do this in the park.
  19. That 500 foot Intamin looks freaking SWEET! Awesome TR! I can see the "100% manly pose" becoming a new TPR staple.
  20. Well, until the full details of what exactly happened come out, it's just speculation. We can hope for the best and just be glad that whatever did happen, happened during testing and not during normal operation.
  21. This episode is already available online at www.cbs.com/primetime/undercover_boss/ I think this show is very good overall. It's good to see company executives gaining appreciation for how dedicated their employees are, and for them to experience firsthand how important people realize it is to make a favorable and lasting impression on their customers. Despite their own personal challenges, they show up and give the company their all, day in and day out.
  22. Vekoma's website is down. Coincidence? I just tried going there to see if I could find any decent pictures of the seats on their new 4 abreast coaster trains.
