  1. Nice TR Sir Derek. Maybe I'll get out to one of these parties someday. Unfortunatley by then they will have paved over the mountain.
  2. I totally missed that too. The woman next to him is all "I know it's the 80's, but what are you doing wearing that outfit!!!" Also notice that the statue behind looks a little gay as well. I didn't know Disney knew crotches existed.
  3. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! IT BURNS! The acid wash...the mullet...the shoes! It's all too much! Ok, I owned all of that myself, it's just scary looking at it again. At least you didn't have a rat tail. That was the worst thing invented in the 80's. I need to scan some of my mullet pics and scare the crap out of all of you. lol I love that the Riviera had a dent in the door. Nice TR Ted.
  4. $67 for one day!!!1??!!?? I guess I won't be going there anytime soon.
  5. Well aren't we happy today?
  6. ^^ Yeah Tornado is easily my 2nd favorite arrow behind my fav Loch Ness Monster. Too bad that was their last of the Arrow era. They actually built a good one! No it's not B&M smooth like some claim, but it's very smooth for an Arrow. Is that the start of the lift I see? Nice report Dave.
  7. Very nice report. They should take that silly ride from Vegas and put it over the edge of the falls and let you get stuck there instead. lol
  8. ^ No, not in a long time. Plus he's like almost 40 now so it kind of loses it's affect. lol I can't say much, I was scared of Scooby Doo when I was a kid.
  9. I say neither. Beast used to be awesome, but now they trimmed it to death because they don't maintain the coaster. You get zero air now on the front run. SOB is the biggest piece of junk on the planet and I will be there in a heartbeat if they decide to burn the thing to the ground!
  10. I had no idea the KKK were this far west.
  11. Then we could have pleasure bots for everyone. Or whatever they were called. Hmmm...I never thought of this, but maybe Mike Myers got the idea for Fem Bots from West World. lol Anyway, we're way off topic. I'm glad to see this new park coming along. If only we could get more parks in the South East. I know I'm spoiled, but I'm jealous of PA and all their parks.
  12. Wasn't Wild West World the name of the place in the movie "West World"? That would not be good. If they have robots walking around, I'm not going! Even for two credits!
  13. ^ Yeah you need time to do the whole park. Monster Plantation is worth the price of admission. It is a fun old school dark ride. They have some good rides in the park, but Acro is down for the count this year looks like.
  14. ^^ The park is listed at around 100 acres. That's not tiny considering Carowinds is only like 130 acres.
  15. SFOG seems to love the hard brakes. Ninja, GASM, Mindbender are all very hard brakes. Ninja stops so hard the whole brake run shakes back and forth.
  16. I'd say skip trying to do MARTA. The train stops like 3 or 4 miles from Six flags and then you would have to figure out where the bus would pick you up and all that. Whoever planned Marta was crazy. They should have had the trains go all the way to Six Flags. It's only like one exit away!!! If you rent a car, by the time you get there and back you'll probably only get a few rides in. Although Goliath is aweosome and well worth the trouble. But the park has a good selection of coasters and I'd hate to have to leave knowing I would miss about 8 credits. If you do go the must coasters are: Goliath (duh), Mindbender (Schwarkopf goodness) and Deja Vu. The rest are fun, but pretty standard. Scorcher is the best standup I've been on. Their woodies are rough as everything and can be skipped. Another thing to consider is traffic. Atlanta has terrible traffic on it's interstates and I think the airport is on the East side of town.
  17. ^ You aren't. It's sad how far that park has fallen since it's glory days. Beast absolutley sucks now.
  18. Sounds like the group that bought it might know what they are doing. So hopefully it will be around for a while. The park is only about 2 hours from me, so if they have a big grand opening I might have to be there.
  19. ^ Ahhhhhhh... I remember those awful disposable flashes. But I don't think they ever had one of those cameras. So now it's a mystery what she used back then. Did the disc cameras have film that kind of looked like a View Master disc? View Master, those were the high tech days!
  20. ^ OT....so what's 300 going to be??? Back to the cameras... I wonder what they were exactly myself. The ones in the first thread I posted were from a 110 camera...anyone remember those? They were these thin long little cameras that were pretty cheap, but took decent shots. Not 35MM of course, but not bad for the 70's. But their photos were always the little square shots. I don't know if Mom had a 110 as well, they had several cameras growing up. I remember an old Kodak they had, but can't recall what type it was. They still have it sitting on a shelf in the living room. lol
  21. Actually those are pictures not slides. Back in the 70's they did the little square pictures instead of the 3x5 and 4x7 that we have today.
  22. Well this will probably be the last of my retro PTR's (as this is the last of my Mom's old pics from parks). This one features BGE when it was still called Busch Gardens The Old Country. Sorry Mom must have hated coasters, she didn't take any pics of Nessy (like you need more pics of that). It also contains Late 70's pics from Disney World and SeaWorld! Enjoy. P.S. If you want to check out the other retro PTRs go here... Santa's Land, SFOG and other random parks- http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27389 Carowinds - http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27963 Obligatory shot of some big fish. And that pretty much does it. I hope you've enjoyed my little retro TRs. And thanks to Ted for "inspiring" me. I guess something good does come out of WV. Thanks Mom for the awesome pic. Da Teaky Room. I so didn't get this as a kid. Double exposed 20,000 leagues. Would that make it 40,000 leagues? Fly you stupid elephant!!! Fly! of the big bad wolf? Who's afraid... Obligatory shot. Mom and I in front of Disney. Even though I was really young when this was taken, I still remember it. On da boat. That's Space Mountain (site of my terror-filled first and last ride) wayyyyyyyyyyy off in the distance. Random slide of doom pic from Asheboro, NC. Obiligatory Pre-Alpengeist Le Scoot shot Flat credit I didn't know I had! Cha Ching! Nice that these are still at the park (I think). How do you fly this stinking thing? That's me up front. Da Train! Da Train! Pre-Drachenfire days. Apparantley it was Pre-Grass days too! One of BGE's former mascots. Don't know what this guy was called. Funny how I'm the biggest of the three now...I'm of course the smallest. I think these were taken in 1978.
  23. Yay for Cinci chili!!!! Nice TR.
  24. I wonder if Robb has those two credit.s He might be doing a trip to NC after all.
  25. Looks like it rained while you were there. I went to Mexico (about 4 hours west of Cancun) last August and they said "It never rains). Then it proceed to rain almost every afternoon. SFM looks pretty cool.. Too bad there weren't any credits in Cancun to be had.
