Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
Sunday: snow Monday: Snow all melted, got warm. PM thunderstorms. Tuesday: Warm, thunderstorms, tornado warning Wednesday : back to cold, windy, with snowflakes. WTF Ohio?? -
Agreed! I hesitated when my boyfriend asked who was more attractive, him or T'Challa. That's just such an unfair question!

^I had more or less the same experience. Wasn't expecting it to live up to the hype, but was actually blown away by it. Just looking at those photos of the park makes me feel humid. Planning to drive to and from Orlando in June just so I can ride Fury again and visit SFOG again to ride TC. Worth it!

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Yes to both. Unless they change the Haunt maze this year (which I doubt, because that's one of the better ones), you will get to go through the Tomb Raider queue. There's one down by Beast/Diamondback splash and one in the Festhaus; not sure elsewhere. What was inedible about it? You probably got a stale slice? I rarely eat out at a LaRosas when in Cincy and prefer to get a slice at KI since they're usually so fresh. The pepperoni is consistently crispy on top of the cheese and goes well with the sweet pizza sauce. Honestly I don't really remember why it was so bad. I think it wasn't cooked all the way and the crust was stale, and I didn't really care for the sauce. I think it was on International Street but I could be remembering that wrong. I'll have to try one of the other locations this year, hopefully it was just a bad day because it seems that everyone likes it. I haven't been a local for 3 years now so my details about the park are starting to show, haha. If you don't care of the sauce then I'd skip it and go for a good that you really like. I'd say Cincinnatians are 50/50 on LaRosas (love/hate). But that seems to be the case with all of the Cincy based chains (people love/hate Montgomery Inn's sauce/rib style; people pick Skyline or Gold Star or Price Hill, PRC, etc) with the exception being Graeters. Everyone loves Graeters! There is one in the main plaza. That one always has a line of people! I ate La Rosas at the park I think twice and it was just okay. Ordering La Rosas out is a lot better, obviously. It's usually my second choice for pizza these days. There's a local place I like a lot better, but I choose La Rosas over Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, Dominos, Little Ceasars, etc. Actually scratch that, third choice. I am eating Rapid Fired pizza as I type this. Not sure if there are a lot of other Rapid Fireds in other regions, but you basically can get whatever you want on a personal-sized pizza and they cook it really fast right there. I get almost every single veggie they offer plus 3 types of cheese plus several dipping sauces and it only costs a solid $7.75. Back to the topic of KI food, there is also Red's, Subway, and Starbucks. I sure do hope the grilled cheese place returns, because it's one of the few good places for vegetarian food (besides Subway). Also, if this BBQ is a restaurant, I hope there is at least one vegetarian thing on the menu so my bf and I can both eat there, but I'd settle for more beer. -

^ & ^^ That's a good way to put it, I guess that makes sense. If their only experience with coasters is at the park they are at, then comparisons are a lot more limited. -
I wonder where they got the Steel Vengeance shirt when Cedar Point isn't even open yet for the season. Which Cedar Fair parks are selling Steel Vengeance shirts? Or is someone selling fan made shirts online? Cedar Point was selling them during Halloweekends last year in some of their gift shops I believe. This is true. I asked the person where they had gotten the shirt given the Cedar Point wasn't open yet and they looked at me kind of stupid like: "Really?" He said he had gotten it last year. I obviously knew where the shirt came from but I was not under the impression they were selling them last year. I was one of those people who bought a Steel Vengeance shirt during Halloweekends. It's so damn comfortable, I've been wearing it all the time to bed. I wore it to SDC as well but it was too cold to not wear a hoodie (mine happened to be a Lightning Rod hoodie). Envying your guys' weather right now. It snowed here last night and we're less than two weeks away from KI opening.

the fork is dead. Long live the spork Something something world's tallest hybrid. Steel Vengeance = spork. Please make this a thing. -
I use that thinking to an extent but it can get complicated for me. Put a coaster I've ridden dozens of times next to one I've only ridden a few times (or not in a while), I'd probably choose to ride the one I haven't been on much, even if the frequently ridden coaster is better. I tend to get really hung up over my rankings if I start to think this way! I'm satisfied with my list and have submitted it. Can't wait to see how the results go!

Weight Management Support/Enouragement thread

^I've been curious about the intermittent fasting thing. However, I tend to go to sleep pretty late (12 on weekdays and 2-3 on weekends because of work schedule differences) during which time I often unwind with some wine or maybe a snack. I'm not sure how feasible it would be for me to try, especially if I have to count the fast from the point I take that last sip of wine for the night. Anyone else have trouble with eating (or drinking) late nights because of their work schedule? -

That's forking brilliant! I really wish I had a coaster channel right now, if anything just to write a stupid post about a fork. I reallyyyy hope someone posts a fork POV! (without mouth involved, let's not go there.) -

People love to compare roller coasters, but it boggles my mind when they compare two that are nothing alike. I heard several people at SDC comparing Wildfire to Outlaw Run. Just... how? The inversions? -

Last week, though I've been craving Rapid Fired lately and I might get that soon. When was the last time you were pleasantly surprised when a coaster turned out much better than you expected? -

I will concur with a lot of what boldikus said about myfitnesspal. I started using it after perusing this thread back in the end of January. I was surprised how high certain foods were that I thought were relatively diet-friendly (mainly Subway, which I eat all the time). Now, I have to plan more if I want to stay on "calorie-budget" and still eat things like pizza. I'm getting better at using the app, but I get frustrated when I go out places that aren't in the system and figuring out what to put in the app. I love using its barcode scanning feature, and the steps counting is nice as well. Pokémon Go has really paid off lately! I stopped using it for a week for spring break in Branson because I didn't want to be constantly worried what to put in. I thought for sure I would have gained so much weight but I stepped on the scale and actually lost! This whole diet thing is confusing... -
I rode Outlaw Run for the first time last week and could easily see it edging out Toro for lots of people. I still think I like Toro a bit better, though. Also, don't underestimate TT. I was honestly torn between waiting for it and getting more rides on Outlaw Run a few times. When Outlaw closed for issues the second day I was there, it made my decision easier. I'm not going to try and compare them by any means, but I was just blown away by TT in a way that I haven't since riding X2 for the first time years ago. I guess I have a thing for sideways inversions and moving from forward to backward-facing in the same ride. I don't know how accurate the app is, but it listed TT up to three hours several times. Luckily, close to closing it was more like 30-60 minutes. Everything got long lines on the Friday of spring break. Outlaw was listed as an hour on one occasion. However, I got to ride it once and then this happened. Too bad I couldn't use it for TT... I don't think I've ever been evacuated from a brake run before, but I got to on Outlaw! I just narrowly made it onto the ride, skipping ahead only because I saw another single rider in the back that the grouper had missed. Didn't see Outlaw go back up the rest of the day. Powder Keg went down, so I ended up using the pass for Thunderation, which listed as a 30-45 minute wait. That ride surprised me a lot, and I think it might edge out Adventure Express as my favorite non-Disney mine train! Die-hard SFStL fan: "It's actually better than Pandemonium." No sh*&! 4 times, to be exact It's tough to get good pictures of this ride, but it's still fun to watch it drop!

Today has definitely been an emotional roller coaster with not knowing if tickets were sold out, if I'd make getting one or have to change my plans, etc. I ended up having to go to work before they officially went back on sale, and spent the first hour of work refreshing my phone to check. Snatched one up as soon as they became available, come to find out they're still not sold out hours later! I don't mind, though, I was just relieved to get one so I can hang out with DILinator and his family and ride this thing during the event! I definitely wouldn't be doing this for any coaster, but I'm super stoked to ride this thing as early as I can after watching the construction unfold all this time. Also won't have to worry about opening day crowds now that I'm planning to go to this! -

I've kept up with my daily calorie goals (minus the day we went out drinking, because I can barely count how many shots/drinks I had let alone the caloric value of each), but haven't seen a loss in a week or so. Haven't gone to the gym in a while, maybe that's why? It is getting frustrating but the same thing happened to me last month and then I suddenly dropped a few pounds in one week. Just gotta stay the course! It's also Spring Break now and I'm taking a trip to Branson, so I'm guessing this will end up being more of a "cheat week," just hopefully not too bad! Alcohol is my typical diet wrecker moreso than fattening foods. Anyone have tips about how to minimize diet wrecking while still being able to drink? I.e. which drinks are typically lower cal? -

UGHH I'm seriously evaluating my priorities right now. It would be awesome to go to one of those passholder days, but all three are school days for me (including two teaching days). It's not inconceivable to find a sub/ skip one class. But man oh man would I be such a hypocrite after making such a big deal to my students about attendance. (To other students: I do not recommend skipping class for coasters! Unless you absolutely know you can do so and still get an A in the class...) Now the first-rider event.... good thing I saved $ by not going to Chillout this year. And it's on a usual day off for me. -
Same thing, film-wise. Only missing the queue animatronics as I mentioned. I'm sure those are long gone. One can still dream of their return, right? That would be awesome! I found a youtube video the other day from a 1998 visit and they were filming all the animatronics. Made me really nostalgic. Share it! Someday I'd love to upload my own family videos and pictures, but that requires me being back in California with enough spare time to do so (or convincing my parents to make time to do it). You're so savage.
