  1. No it isn't. The park is open 10:30-6pm that day.
  2. Oh, well TPR's West Coast Bash is on September 12th, so many of us (including me) will see you there that day You probably won't need a flash pass for Sunday and you definitely won't need one for Monday. Saturday even I don't think so, maybe, but as always I'd wait until you get to the park and see the crowds to make that decision. Nothing worse than prepaying a flash pass and then finding the park empty and you've wasted your money. X2 was a $10 upcharge per person per ride last I checked. Twisted Colossus is $30. With regular flash pass you will probably find 30-50min waits until your ride is ready, with gold it averages around 10-15, platinum is usually the same around 10-15 despite what the website says. Only get platinum if you really want to skip the line on Superman or F.ull Throttle (which require platinum but isnt an upcharge), buy a reservation for Twisted Colossus, or do double-rides on some coasters without getting up. Otherwise get gold. There's really nothing at the park that I would say to outright avoid assuming it's your first time on all these coasters. Green Lantern is really polarizing, meaning you might really love it or you might really hate it, but if you've never done a ZacSpin coaster, you should do it at least once just to try it even if you never ride it again, there aren't too many of them. I'd start out on either Twisted Colossus or F.ull Throttle in the morning, those are the two that keep the most consistent waits throughout the day. Since you're doing three days you can do Twisted Colossus first one day, FT first another day, and maybe X2 first the third day (if it's open, often it doesn't open right away). If you're getting a gold pass, you can get in the park 10 minutes early. If you head to Twisted Colossus at 10:20 on Saturday you will definitely run into me, because that's where I'll be at that time All you need to get your season pass processed is the paper voucher that you print out. They will scan it right at the gate, scan your finger, and hand you a card. If you want to get a head start and get in fast, even if you have gold pass early entry, arrive at the gates at least 45-60 minutes before the park opens to get a spot in the front of the line. Sometimes even the gold pass early entry line can be so long that the end of the line doesn't get in before the main lines get let in!
  3. Yeah it was reported earlier than the Single Rider line was discontinued, supposedly permanently, and the seating grouper was also eliminated, presumably both to save staffing costs. (I can't imagine that pushing that $30 flash pass reservation upcharge wasn't also a motivation..if youre a single rider who wants to skip the line why pay $30 when you can use the SRL?)
  4. Sundays arent usually busy at all, but it could be quite a bit busier on that day with a lot of people going for Roar's last day. Still doubt you'll need a flash pass, I never have.
  5. I always laugh when I see YOLOCoaster in quoted news articles due to the word filter.
  6. OnePass created! Been waiting for this for a while, Kari Byron as been promoting it on Facebook for quite a while but only recently revealed the name of the series.
  7. I've decided to brave the crowds and the traffic and grab a long-needed credit of the West Coaster at the Santa Monica Pier on Friday afternoon. I'm wrapping up my goal of getting every major permanent credit in the Pacific Time Zone and only need that, Quicksilver Express @ Gilroy, the 3 coasters at Wild Waves Theme Park in Washington, and a handful in BC.
  8. Key Club Day, or officially "CNH Key Club Fall Rally South" is on Saturday November 14th this year. Mark it on your calendars and avoid it. http://www.cnhkeyclub.org/events/fall-rally
  9. Nope, none. Certainly not in the post directly above yours, so don't look there.
  10. 1. Its a lighter day compared to the rest of October since theres no fright fest that day. 2. With Flash Pass always budget for it but never purchase it ahead of time. Wait until you get there, and if you find the wait times unacceptable, then purchase the pass at the park. I usually recommend the Gold flash pass for the reduced wait times. If you reserve your next ride immediately after checking in, it's almost always ready by the time you get there. Only get the platinum if the following are priorities for you: Double-Rides without getting up (Only on some coasters), Superman (Watch out the flash pass merges only about halfway into the building, still a bit of a line on busy days), F.ull T.hrottle, and being able to purchase one time skip-the-line appointments for X2 or Twisted Colossus. I believe X2 is $10 per person per ride and TC is $30 per person per ride. 3. Most rides have more than one vehicle, so even if there is maintenance the ride will still be open but you may encounter one train operation, which obviously results in longer lines. The most notable major exception is Lex Luthor, which just recently reopened after being down for repair, so I doubt it will be going down again soon. I believe Ive heard Riddlers Revenge and Ninja were recently running one-train ops, but they might be back to two by the time you visit. Sky Tower is SBNO and will be for the forseeable future if not forever. 4. 10:30 is park gates open and rides open, at least thats whats scheduled. Sometimes they fail. X2 has a reputation for frequently opening late. 5. I would only pay for valet parking if you have someone with mobility issues, otherwise just get there early and get a good close spot. If you have a small group, you can use the Single Rider lines on Viper, Revolution, Green Lantern, Riddler's Revenge, and Lex Luthor. Twisted Colossus had one, but I heard they discontinued it. With Single Rider lines you probably won't sit next to your party, but you can get on the ride much faster, especially on Green Lantern and Riddler's Revenge. If Riddler's is still on one-train operations when you get there then I'd say use the single rider line regardless of your group size, and you'll still all get done faster. One train operation standby line on Riddler's is just absolute hell and the single rider line almost always gets you walked right onto the train.
  11. Actually they did have an "easy payment" option you could use on the website to pay for your season pass in 12 monthly installments. I used to use it before I got my membership and Cedar Fair still does it as I did that this year to purchase my Gold Pass at CGA. It was typically only available during the early part of the season and then it would cease to be available until the next season. I think they may have gotten rid of that permanently once they started doing memberships.
  12. How bout a clone of the just announced Gale Force by S&S that's going in Ocean City, NJ? Same compact footprint, not the exact same as closest competitor park has, although a similar concept I think that would work well, and I'd love it.
  13. That early in the month it shouldn't be too bad on a Friday. Fright Fest days tend to have a more dramatic shift from light to heavy crowds too, lighter in the morning than usual and heavier in the afternoon than usual.
  14. RMC is far and away the leader, but I see what he's saying. Premier has really taken a big chunk out of the small footprint market cloning S:UF as well as their spaghetti bowl coasters and custom stuff like FT using multi-directional launches to get more bang for the track buck. S&S debuted the free spin 4D at SFFT which is certainly innovative and now it even looks like they took a page out of Premier's book with that new multi launch coaster they're doing in NJ which looks pretty fun. I think Vekoma still deserves some credit though. They may not be doing head turning stuff like RMC, but if you follow them on Facebook theyre still doing quite a bit. They're always doing custom work that they don't get a lot of attention for in my opinion like their Disney installations, the family coasters they've been doing lately look pretty great and I LOVE the new cars they've been installing. Maybe it's not truly innovating exactly, but I feel like they're a lot more creative than B&M or even Intamin in recent years.
  15. Weird that people would find Batman painful. I always remember it as one of the smoothest most comfortable rides in the park, as any non-standup B&M usually is in most parks. Hey Ninja is a great ride; it's not the fastest or most thrilling but I still find it fun as suspended coasters are pretty rare and Ninja is probably the best of them. I haven't ridden since the phytocide, however. Ill have to see at WCB if the lack of canopy hurts it...the shade and the terrain are definitely part of its charm.
  16. Saturdays are always busier anyway, National Roller Coaster Day won't change that. In fact CGA might be a little less crowded because some people went to SFDK instead on 8/16 being Roar's last day.
  17. Tap My Six Flags, then My Rewards & Coupons, then find it in the list.
  18. Good to know. I would had thought that Tuesday and Wednesday of that week will be less busy than Friday. Are we talking so dead that TC will be a walk-on all day? We're talking so dead that you can walk on to every ride in the park including TC, X2, and YOLO all day from opening to closing as many times as you want. Buried somewhere in this thread from several years back is a photo TR from that day showing all the midways just completely empty.
  19. Days other than Saturday. The last Friday before they go to weekend-only operation is the deadest day of the year.
  20. Wow, you are one hell of a photographer, those are beautiful photos.
  21. Front row is always the best for Tatsu as the forces are pretty much the same for the whole train, so the view is all that matters, and it's a pretty spectacular view in the front. There is a trick to the Goliath helix. When I rode it the first time or two my vision greyed out due to the blood rushing out of my head and I didn't find it too fun. I figured out though that if you tilt your head so that it remains perpendicular to the ground (In this case you would tilt your head towards your left shoulder) it keeps the blood from rushing out of your head and keep you from greying out if you would have otherwise (not all people do anyway).
  22. In all seriousness I would absolutely love that.
