  1. Ah, I didnt realize that. Makes total sense then.
  2. Any idea why they can't run just the other side?
  3. I'm guessing it's just maintenance/rehab because it's on the schedule for WCB, and though I know that can change and it could be swapped out before the event, if there were some other issue going on with unknown duration, when the ERT schedule was being made they probably would have mentioned it "wouldn't be available" or "might not be available" and something else would have been in it's place.
  4. I mean, again consider the source, I'm a crazy fan of Kong, but in my opinion they're just right. Others certainly have varying opinions I would love it if some day there were a Kong marathon competition..I'd win for sure.
  5. I personally love Kong. If you're sensitive to rough coasters, especially "head banging" coasters, then you probably will not enjoy Kong. If you, like me, are more the type that will ride almost anything and isn't usually bothered by roughness or headbanging, then Kong is a fun layout. My personal strategy for a painless ride on Kong is to turn my head in the direction of an upcoming turn before the train reaches it. This way, only the back of my head is in contact with the OTSRs and I never get headbanging. Additionally, when I was there a couple weeks ago I had the least rough ride I've ever had on Kong so I took note of the seat - yellow train seat #14. I usually ride either front or back row, but that time I was in a hurry and just went for the nearest open row and was surprised how un-rough (I cant say smooth) the ride was. If you're thinking "I shouldnt have to do that", then don't..just move on. My philosophy is anything I personally can do to make an otherwise rough ride more enjoyable I'm all for. Works for me on almost every coaster with headbanging..doesnt help at all for Revolution at SFMM though.
  6. Specifically for SFMM, flying into Burbank. Santa Ana or LAX might be more convenient if you're staying near Knott's. Personally I prefer Burbank airport because it's just an easier airport to deal with even if it's not the closest airport.
  7. Saturdays are pretty busy. If Superman is a priority, head for that right at park opening. You can usually get 2 or 3 laps before the line even starts to develop. If Medusa is a priority and you have a gold pass, you can get into Oasis Plaza a few minutes earlier than the GP, though they don't open the coaster until park open, you can get in line early and get on the first train. Otherwise you can come back to Medusa last as most people go here first and the line dies in the afternoon. If V2 is a priority, don't "wait until later", ride it when you get a chance. It's crazy sensitive and goes down frequently. I doubt you'll wait more than an hour at peak time for Superman or Medusa unless there's a special event going on.
  8. Sundays arent too bad relative to Saturdays. X2 and TC are usually busy in the morning, but TC has Single Rider as does Lex Luthor, Riddler, Viper, Revolution, and Green Lantern. Gold Pass still gets you in early in the far right lane, but how early varies..sometimes they don't open up on time, and sometimes theres a line even for early entry.
  9. lol sorry about that. Yeah I know it's heard to read feelings from posts. For what it's worth, my very first reaction was just being excited about the doubling of the TC ERT and that I could get multiple of both day and night rides. I didn't even notice Revolution not being on there until after a few minutes I figured something must have been removed and then worked out what it was. Above all I'm grateful for the hard work you're doing to plan and execute this amazing event for all of us. I'm definitely looking forward to some TMLR ERT!! I'm hoping it will be one of the backstage tours so I can get a selfie with one of the creepy animatronics, but I'll be happy with whatever happens.
  10. No no no, it wasn't a complaint, I definitely said you made the right decision. Trading Revolution for Twisted Colossus is a no brainer. In and of itself I was looking forward to that when I originally saw it planned cause I havent ridden it in years (Because I usually have a take it or leave it attitude too, and then last time it was closed) and just wanted to see if I could handle riding it multiple times in a row, so I was only slightly disappointed for that reason, but not really 'cause again Ill still have plenty of time to ride it in the day so I'm not missing anything really. In actuality I'd much rather have double the TC ERT even if it meant no Revolution rides at all.
  11. I'm sure it will be dueling almost all of the time. When it doesn't duel its usually because of guests slowing down the loading procedure. I doubt we will have that problem during TPR ERT. Thank you Robb, I think you're absolutely right and made the right decision. But yeah with TC only in the morning, you're probably right, I would have gone to TC just to make sure. This gives me the freedom to start my day at Yolo instead. Every time I've been to the park since it opened, Yolo has been 60+ minute waits, so I've only tolerated riding it once per day. It's such a fun short ride and it always leaves me wanting more. I've been waiting for an opportunity like this to get some ERT and do a few in a row! I only half wonder now though if everyone will decide not to ride TC in the morning and the evening TC will be crowded Same goes for Superman..it's one of the most miserable queues for me and a fun but short ride, so ERT will be extra sweet. I'll probably do The other four first and then end my ERT on TC right before the park opens. Even if I only get one ride in the morning that will be OK, I'll be back later I think Viper is the only coaster that I will skip during ERT and hit during public hours. I always make the mistake of leaving Viper for the end of the day when I'm already tired and sore and those shoulder restraints are just torture at that point. I want to ride Viper early, so I'll just do that one at 10:30...there won't be any lines either way. I'm slightly disappointed that Revolution was taken off of ERT, I was looking forward to that a little, but to get a second round of TC instead I don't think is a bad trade at all. As long as Revolution is open during the day, I'll be happy; and really much like Viper I doubt it will have a long line so I'll have plenty of time to ride it multiple times if I want during general hours. I've missed it on my last couple trips to the park with it being closed. I haven't gotten to ride Apocalypse in a while either, but that doesn't really bother me.
  12. Yeah I dont really look straight down either except on the lift hill, but I love to look out in the distance towards the horizon or away from the coaster as it's making turns and doing rolls. (Awesome sunset ride btw)
  13. No, they used the long dormant third train to repair the one that hit the tree (or maybe parted the crashed train out to rehab the third one, I dont know which) but they were running 2 trains again subsequent to the accident.
  14. X2 was actually my first really crazy coaster (When it was just X). I got dragged onto it but immediately (mid-ride) loved it and since then I have to be dragged off of coasters rather than on them. sirspud described the feeling pretty well. Based on your accounts, you sound to be in a very similar place as I was when I went on it first, so I say jump right in and do it first thing in the morning like I did! Knock that one out and nothing will intimidate you. Except maybe Green Lantern. That's the only one I would recommend avoiding. It's possible you might love it, but it's possible it might try to injure you and turn you off of coasting. It's a very polarizing coaster. In my experience people come off of that coaster saying one of two things - either "I love it lets get back in line and re-ride" or "I'm never again setting foot on that piece of ****." What do you think of Tatsu? I remember when I was where you are that in videos and photos it didn't look too bad but when I saw it in person it seemed so much bigger. That lift hill seemed like the worst part. If you find yourself hesitating, rip that one off like a band aid too, you'll love it. A flying coaster is a unique coaster experience, and a very fun one. Some people complain about hanging in the cars on the brakes after the run, but I find the entire thing comfortable than most coasters.
  15. It's quite possible that the ride is closing for retracking (god knows it can use it, but I still dont think it will help much) but I seriously doubt this will be RMC. It's all but confirmed that their one California job is going to be Roar at SFDK which has already been announced as closing 8/16.
  16. I know there are no current plans for any modification to GhostRider (per Matt Ouimet in OCR). Where did you hear confirmation that Apocalypse was being modified?
  17. Occasionally they will do ERT for pass holders but I didn't hear about any for tomorrow. The Early Entry is not to the park, it's 10 min early entry to Oasis Plaza, home to Medusa, Kong, Dare Devil Chaos Notacoaster, and Sky Screamer. They usually don't open before the park though, so the only real advantage is getting in line for Medusa's first train. They are planning some events for the final rides of Roar, and I would figure there will be some advantages for gold pass holders, but the details haven't been announced yet. Also a good bet that when the new ride opens there will be a gold pass exclusive soft opening, that's pretty much Six Flags SOP on new rides.
  18. Absolutely! I'm basically going alone. I have a friend who will be there at SFMM but I'm guessing she will be ignoring me, and I'll be totally solo at KBF. I do parks solo all the time though, doesn't bother me.
  19. Speaking of which I saw the new Vacation movie the other night and the new marquee coaster in the movie is an old Arrow Looper (With some extra height and loops thrown in with CGI). I couldnt see well cause they changed the surroundings but I think it might have been Ninja at SFoG. I find it funny when they use old coasters in a movie as their spectacular new coaster.
  20. ^ I was told that GhostRider's annual maintenance is always during this same time, so yes it's generally going to be closed during the beginning of September every year. Exact days and length will vary I'm sure, but I'm sure the reason it's not listed for ERT is because it's going to be closed, so I expect it to be closed for WCB. Who knows, we may get surprised.
  21. Ghost Rider is usually closed for Maintenance right before Haunt, and it's conspicuous absence from the ERT leads me to believe that it will indeed be closed. I went to KBF last year on 9/18 and it had been closed for several days and I think they told me it wasn't reopening until 9/23 or 9/24. Bummer of a way to start the day. 9/18/14.
  22. That Friday the very last weekday before weekend-only operation (8/28 this year) is typically the deadest day of the entire year. You should be able to walk onto everything all day long. That's why the hours are shortened.
  23. ^ Don't worry, due to this. You already know (pending no changes between now and the event of course which are always possible) that you won't have to deal with any lines whatsoever on Twisted Colossus, YOLO, Lex Luthor, X2, Tatsu, Superman, and Goliath - which are almost all of the longer lines in the park - plus Viper and Revolution due to all of those being on ERT. That means you only need to worry about riding Green Lantern (If you so choose), Gold Rusher, Apocalypse, Riddler, Ninja, and Batman during general hours and of those, the two longest potential lines, Riddler and Green Lantern, have Single Rider Lines. Thanks to Robb and WCB putting almost all of the high demand rides on ERT, I doubt anyone will need a Flash Pass unless you're looking for multiple rerides in a group or something, and even still I think you'll have time to work it out. This is going to be my first ever trip to MM without a Flash Pass. I usually get them even when its not totally necessary because I want to be extra comfortable, but I'm not going to bother this time..I have no doubt I will be able to ride everything multiple times and still have way more time than I know what to do with. When I go myself I usually get there at 1030, ride everything with a few rerides, and am out of the park by 5 or 6. This time we will have from 8:30am to 11pm with four of those hours to ourselves. I'm more worried about what to do in the middle of the day while waiting for the next TPR event than whether to get a Flash Pass
  24. I have no idea what a "Membership Pass" is, so you might want to contact the park on that question. it's essentially an auto renewing season pass, I have one and six flags views them exactly the same as a season pass, I have no doubt it will be fine.
