  1. I don't think it's that ridiculous. A large coaster can cost upwards of $15-20M, if they built a large garage close to the park entrance they could sell their current buses and save in perpetuity on bus driver salaries, training, gas, and maintenance on the buses. I think a parking garage close by with your car being covered from the hot sun is pretty attractive from a guest's point of view, and I think its marketable, though not as much so as a roller coaster for sure. I'm not saying it's likely, exactly, just maybe a little less ridiculous. I was at MM today and the TC single rider line was up and running. I didn't get a chance to use it, but it didn't look like the line ever got longer than 15 people. I planned to try using it later in the day, but X2 only had one train operating and by the time I got off it the park had closed. Speaking of single train operation, when did it become so popular at MM? X2, Revolution, and apocalypse were all using single trains. I hadn't been to MM in about 4 yrs but I've never encountered this. Is it because this isn't considered peak season yet? I never made it to batman, riddler, or ninja, so idk if they had more than one train running. In addition, superman was closed and riddler was down almost all day (in addition to Goliath). In spite of the slow lines and ride closures, I still had a great time. TC is awesome! Also, I never saw it duel today and they were only using 2 trains. Well it makes sense that Revolution and perhaps Apocalypse would be running single train for capacity reasons. X2 was probably having issues with the other train(s)...it happens. Its also possible they may have been short handed in staffing. If you have a large group and/or dont want to split up, ride Twisted Colossus first. The line is likely to be long all day. If you can take advantage of single rider lines, then I would say head for YOLOCoaster/FT first since there's no cheating that one, you can ride X2 in the afternoon when the line dies down, and you can ride Twisted Colossus with the Single Rider line that just opened.
  2. Dang..thanks for mentioning this. I was planning on using my employee rate to fly standby on the cheap, but at the moment Southwest is offering confirmed seats for the return flight for the exact same price and not much more for on the way there! For only about $20 more total I'll just get the confirmed seat..worth it!
  3. Youll save tons of time using Single Rider on Riddlers, Lex Luthor, and Green Lantern. Rumor has it that Twisted Colossus will have a Single Rider line up and running by then too.
  4. The website says Regular = actual time, Gold = 50% shorter time, Platinum = 90% shorter time. I have found this to be more of a guideline than an actual measurement. With the regular pass your waits should be roughly equal to that of standing in line, only you don't have to physically stand there. Probably average about 45-60 min on a normal summer day. Despite what the website says, in practice Gold and Platinum end up with about the same waits - on average about 10-15 min. Low demand rides like Viper and Revolution are often ready instantaneously, meaning the Flash Pass is pointless for them. To me it's worth it for Tatsu alone. It will probably have 60+ waits easily that day, the Flash Pass will skip you past the entire lower queue giving you practically only a station wait. Unlike some other parks where you merge much earlier, at MM the Flash Pass in most cases merges you at the entrance of the station. The only ride I can think of where you merge significantly farther back is Superman. (Water rides for whatever reason always have longer waits - on gold usually 45-60.) One some rides Platinum lets you ride twice without getting up, and Platinum includes Superman and the ability to purchase reservations for X2, YOLOCoaster, and Twisted Colossus.
  5. Xcelerator is definitely worth it, especially for someone who has I think done KK and TTD, you'll love it. You launch from right in the station and then do more than just go up and down like most of the other accelerator coasters.
  6. It's going to be very busy (and probably very hot) and you will enjoy the day a LOT more with the Flash Pass. On a summer weekend it's going to be the only way to ride everything you want. All the major rides except Superman, X2, and Twisted Colossus are supported on all flash passes. Platinum flash pass includes superman. YOLO/FT and Twisted Colossus require reservations to be purchased per-ride ($10 or $15 for YOLO, $30 for TC) and require a platinum flash pass. Assuming you're not made of money and don't go full hog and buy Platinum + reservations, My recommendation is to buy the Gold Flash Pass, which is the best value. As soon as you get in the door go straight for Twisted Colossus, then go to the Flash Pass office to pick up your little device. Immediately reserve the first ride you want, and it will probably be ready by the time you walk there. When you get into the station and the ride op checks you in, immediately reserve your next ride. By the time you get off the current one and walk to the next ride, it should be ready. Rinse and repeat. Except for water rides you rarely wait more than 10-15 mins for a flash pass reservation to be ready. The lines for YOLOCoaster/FT and especially X2 tend to die in the afternoon, so look to get those in around 4-5pm.
  7. ^ The lunch at Knott's is Mrs Knotts Chicken Dinner? OMG.
  8. For some reason we get a TON of spiders/spiderwebs at our park. I have literally brushed off full cobwebs on photo eyes on our daily inspections multiple days in a row. That said, maintenance only focuses on cleaning what is required for the ride to function, the rest is up to operations, and they honestly don't have the best operators at Orbit... This is true. I used to look at the webs on Flight Decks brake run and think "Why dont they clean these, it looks terrible" and then I realized its one of those things, they can keep cleaning them but they get put back up just as fast. When the whole ride was repainted recently I went on the first day it was open after the paint job was finished and all the webs were still there. Obviously they had been washed away before the ride was painted, but skaunit is right CGA just has some seriously stubborn spiders. buck yeah it sucks what happened on Flight Deck for you. It's a pretty tight fit for me too. if it was close you might have better luck on another day and/or with another rideop..some of them are more skilled at others at getting those things to click. Its close for me on B&M inverts and used to be on Intamin shuttles (like V2 and Wicked Twister) before they started getting new slightly longer belts installed. Sounds like they might be doing the same on Flight Deck some time soon too.
  9. Though Knott's has less coasters, in the last few years their WCB extras have included Backstage Tours and Q&As that SFMM did not offer..I havent gone before but I've heard from those that did that the Knott's day has been much more fun than SFMM in recent years. KBF, in my opinion, is just a more enjoyable day altogether if you care about anything other than coasters and ERT.
  10. Here is last year's info: I'm looking at previous years now, it looks like the prices have just gone up slightly each year or so, as everything does. Still a hell of a deal for everything you get.
  11. My guess is that the curvature of the track is too high for the train: it's just like Amtrak squealing when it goes into a curve. But why it would jam to a stop in that first turn is unknown to me. Maybe they can send it out slower and have it ramp up to normal speed outside of the turn?
  12. I have to respectfully disagree in this situation - and I'm not saying that sarcastically, I get what you're saying and agree with it in a lot of situations. Especially with like someone who just screams that they want off, it is certainly safer to let the ride cycle. In this particular case I believe it would still have been better to hit the e-stop because with a person having a seizure, they don't have any control over their body, and travelling through the Boomerang's cycle with no control can cause serious injury. You could break your neck or easily suffer a concussion. Biting through the tongue, already a concern with seizures, becomes exponentially more likely. Stuck on the lift at least the person next to him could try to help hold him as still as possible. If he was still on level track then I'm really ticked, they should have immediately hit that lift stop before he went up.
  13. if that's true it's extremely bad and one or more people deserve to be fired and/or or given 50 non stop rides on Kong. Certainly and it does sound plausible given how apathetic ride OP's on the "lesser rides" have been in my visits. I'm sure some idiots have faked stuff after boarding as well so that might play a part in it. the good news, boomerang is literally right next to first aid. Though first aid is right next to the aligator and tortise pit so if you happen to die in the park. Well, they'll save money on meat... right? If that report is accurate, that ride op could very well find him or herself in court. Ignoring an apparent medical emergency is not funny at all. To claim that Boomerangs have no emergency stop is ridiculous. You can't always immediately stop the ride instantly, but there's always some kind of E-Stop.
  14. All these Twisted Colossus reports are really getting me excited for WCB. I can't imagine it not being included in ERT, and it would be really nice if they did something a little extra like making sure we double-duel. A couple people have suggested something like a glow session a la Phoenix, but that would really be above and beyond. I'm not sure the park would feel safe doing that on this particular coaster. Would still be cool do do it elsewhere on the park though, that would make Apocalypse ERT more appealing than usual All I'm really hoping for is that we get an hour or two of ERT on Twisted Colossus and YOLO, which I think is fair to say is very likely. Anything else is total gravy. Can't wait for tickets to go on sale so I can finalize plans and really start counting down the days!!
  15. Right now it's not available at all due to the demand, but I've heard that within a few weeks it will be added as a reservation upcharge to platinum flash passes for $30 per ride.
  16. So has it ran three trains or consistently dueled since media day??? Three train operation has been inconsistent, but they've been having the usual technical issues and have had to periodically take one train off to work on. They seem to be pretty good at dueling the trains when theyre trying to, but it's been on-and-off that they've been trying to duel them. I think they're kind of torn between trying to duel the trains and trying to get people through as fast as possible. One thing is for sure, I'm looking forward to the WCB ERT (I know nothing is guaranteed, but I'd be shocked if that weren't included.)
  17. One possibility is that theyre trying to dial in the right amount of friction to get the right ride duration that they're looking for. I know they were messing with Tatsu alot when it opened before they figured out just the right recipe. Can someone confirm this? I don't think you can just walk up the Tatsu, Superman, FT exit and try to get empty seats. I don't think you would get a warm reception if you went up the exit. I think this just refers to the grouper's ability to ask for single riders out of the main queue.
  18. All the other SR lines at the park are well hidden and people dont find them unless they're seeking them out, so such an obvious SR line is something that MM doesn't deal with. DLR/Magic Kingdom veterans, is this ever a problem at the Disney Parks? I know they have much more conspicuous SR lines at their parks, but I havent really been since they've been utilized there. Do you ever see large groups of people flooding the SR lines? Use the flash pass and then use the SR line when you're waiting for your next flash pass reservation, you can marathon it pretty well that way.
  19. I doubt it since the X2 line is always long. Does anyone know if the Drop of Doom line is ever long? I'm hoping it is always short since lots of people are petrified of that ride. It's short more than it's long, and in case it is long, there's a single rider line for it. It's also been on the regular flash pass for the last 18 months or so.
  20. It doesn't sound weird at all. The rules are there for a very good reason, the safety of the guests.
  21. Ah, I was told they were made to leave the station. As long as people are allowed to wait I have no problem with them not giving exit passes. Also the answer to the above question (in my opinion) would be at whatever point people have to leave. If they cleared the station and people could start waiting out of the station, then I would give boarding passes to anyone who was in the station and asked to leave, but not to anyone who had not yet made it into the station.
  22. Dang..SFMM dropping the ball on customer service again. A friend of mine just told me on facebook they waited in line for 2.5 hours, got up to the air gates, then the ride broke down and they were told to leave the station and that they could not have a boarding pass..they have to just get in line again. Thats ridiculous. I understand the ride is going to have problems, I don't blame them for the ride breaking down, but ESPECIALLY when the line is that long, to just tell people they wasted 3 hours for nothing and will have to "try again" is extremely poor customer service in my opinion. At least give the first few trains of people a pass.
  23. Yeah someone else just told me theyre not using it today, which is a bit baffling. Also just heard from someone else that the per ride upcharge for TC on FP will be $30..ouch. Those reportedly will be available starting 6/6.
  24. TopThrill182, is the single rider line being used?
