  1. So, you want to turn a family coaster that was not designed to be an extreme thrill ride and turn it into an extreme thrill ride... Right. Have you ridden it lately? The retracking they've done have vastly improved it. A lot of the problem areas that were rough have been smoothed out. I have yet to hear any viable reason to RMC a ride like Grizzly beyond the typical selfish want of more coasters. Trust me, I know those feels. I don't remember Grizzly ever being rough. It's just not exciting, but that's ok. The only real problem it has is the insane amount of time it takes to dispatch a train due to all the crazy redundant and restrictive restraints.
  2. Azul looks like a Mexican restaurant.
  3. Couldn't agree more. I'm much closer to SFDK who is the lucky recipient of a brand new RMC, and I'm still more excited about Revolution which is pretty crazy. I've just been waiting for years for this to happen to Revolution. I also read last night from a site who's information is always reliable (but shall remain unnamed per this site's wishes) that the new cars are definitely not being built by Gerstlauer or Premier - in fact SFMM is actually building the new cars in house. They're going to take the original Schwarzkopf car plans to a metal fabricator and having all the parts built individually from scratch, and then will assemble them just as they would during rehab. Not only is this cheaper than hiring an outside manufacturer to design and manufacture new trains, but reportedly these new trains won't have to go through the time consuming testing and certification of a brand new train design since they've already gone through it.
  4. If you "could be wrong" that's not news, it's a guess.
  5. Make sure you go REALLY early! Yeah that's why I think realistically I won't be able to make it. I will probably wait until after the first half of the day's events to get some food. Since I'm driving from SFMM to the KBFH and probably not getting to sleep until somewhere around 1, and then we know ERT will start at 8am with the possibility of checkin and/or another event like the Sierra Sidewinder walkback being earlier than that (since it can't occur during park hours and I'm guessing it probably wouldn't be during ERT), sleep is going to be at a premium. Still better than trying to sleep in Valencia and then drive to Buena Park in the morning though, and hey this way I'll be just extra hungry for lunch at Mrs. Knott's.
  6. I've been on Labor Day weekend and it's extremely busy. Flash Pass is likely needed..if I was going this weekend I would actually for a rare change probably pre-purchase the flash pass. (Also because it's likely to be over 100F at the park)
  7. I don't want to alarm you or anything, but you miiiiiiiight want to get tested for diabetes. Jeez no kidding, 7 sports bottles of soda in one day? That's like sugar poisoning! I'd hope you were filling them with water or something but that would kind of defeat the purpose.
  8. ^ Yes with either the admission or dining membership you're locked for 12 months and after that you can cancel at any time. I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't be able to just buy a regular non-membership dining pass by itself, it could just be separate from your admission pass/membership. Should work either way.
  9. And if you want to see and learn more about why that is, watch the episode of Thrill Factor with Olympia Looping in it (Episode 104 - In The Hot Seat). Flip Flap railway had a circular loop with ridiculous G's..it took them a while to figure out that changing the shape made all the difference.
  10. There's no guarantee that we will be able to upgrade the wcb admission. Robb's FAQ says it has happened some times in the past but not necessarily others..I wouldn't count on it being an option, especially at the discounted price. For me it's worth it either way for the parking alone as long as you go at least 3 times.
  11. What is and isnt a new credit is subjective to each person..to me it's not a new credit. In my opinion it's only a new credit if the layout changes. So for me for example, X and X2 were not different credits, but Twisted Colossus and Colossus are.
  12. I'm guessing the cars will be primarily red then.
  13. I've heard that the 4th train is already at the park and is being stored indoors until one of the current 3 trains needs rehab and then it will be swapped in. Hopefully with this year's focus being an updated Revolution, Tatsu will indeed receive a paint job since it is Revolution-Adjacent. MM tends to paint old coasters when new coasters are added nearby for media exposure. (Scream with TC, Viper with X2, etc.)
  14. ^^ Just TC is worth the price of WCB easily Just one, me. I wasnt so much bitching though as mildly disappointed since it has just happened to be closed for the last several years in a row when I was there..its often hard to tell the difference between "Ah bummer, oh well" and "omwtf you suck" in a message board post, and mine was the former. Make no mistake however - the fact that I won't be riding Revolution at all during WCB doesn't disappoint me at all knowing that it's finally going to be restored! I can't wait to come back when it reopens!
  15. Ive got a season pass for it, it's a great show. I love the scientific spin on it..so far it's been my favorite of the coaster/thrill ride shows. I think it's funny how the hosts are often riding some horrific rough coaster like Hades 360 while showing video of a much better ride somewhere else that they're not riding.
  16. I havent heard/seen anything about altering the track or course other than confirmation that the track will be painted.
  17. I still think its something to do with Revolution That's what I'm hoping for. Close Revolution for refurb and paint later this year, order/build new trains minus the OTSRs (and the brake if I'm really dreaming), reopen it on or about 5/8/2016 for a 50th anniversary grand reopening. For me that would the best possible announcement, better than any new coaster or attraction. With the anniversary coinciding with TC being the most marketable new coaster in a long time, there's no better time than now.
  18. Sorry useless post...I replied to something and then realized I misread it and my whole post was invalid.
  19. Congrats also to whoever got the last ticket(s)
  20. But that decline also corresponds with the winding down of summer. The park is less busy this time of year anyway, so it stands to reason that any ride, including Rougarou, would have shorter lines. I think it's much to early to call the entire concept a bust in the first year. Line size aside, every review I've heard has been positive. It's nothing world altering, but the consensus I've seen is that it's a more enjoyable ride than Mantis was.
  21. I have a friend who gets motion sickness and he always takes Dramamine before going to the park and it never seems to help much, but not everyone is the same. For motion sickness Goliath and Tatsu aren't bad relatively speaking. The one that affected him the most that I've seen is Ninja due to the swinging motion, though he hasn't tried Green Lantern, I'm guessing that'd be worse.
  22. ^^ That's totally not necessary on Goliath. All you have to do is tilt your head to the left so that your head remains upright in relation to the ground.
  23. 110? the highest i can find on a forecast is 102. it hit 104 yesterday when i was there. surprisingly, it didn't feel that bad at all. felt worse the previous days where i live in cerritos with the humidity. the good thing, no lines. so i'm sure that made a massive difference. It always feels about 10 degrees hotter out on the blacktop at SFMM than it would just generally around Valencia/Santa Clarita, I'm sure that's what he meant. I show 102 as the currently forecasted official high for the city, but I wouldn't doubt it feels like 110 walking around the park. I know when I go there and it says 89 it usually feels like 100.
  24. Go early in the month and early in the day to avoid crowds during Fright Fest.
  25. That's what I heard as well. It's probably in the shop, ready to be swapped in for whichever train heads to rehab first. It usually lasts through this Friday, which is the deadest day of all, then weekend crowds will return come Saturday. After this week the park is only open weekends. I always say it, this year I decided (obviously) that wcb would be better, but next year I'm really gonna do it - I'm going to plan right now to take a trip down to SFMM on the last Friday before weekend operation. I have to experience that at least once in my life.
