i just went on it for the first time friday, and the guy let me sit in the back. If you've been getting row preference on Gold Striker you've been unusually lucky. Due to the small station size they almost always mandate seating. In my experience they kinda go overboard with it mandating seating even with no line and practically empty trains.

Yeah the checking system seems to be a little different, I noticed the ops having a bit of difficulty communicating when they wanted to recheck a seat or row not able to hear themselves over the evil repeating music...they'll come up with a signal system and get that down soon no doubt. I asked about the seemingly crazy high number of riders preboarding through the exit and was told that though a few were people coming back that were on the ride when it broke down earlier (I dont think you should get exit passes for that on a ride's first day, but that's just my opinion) most were ADA riders. I think there were a fair few that decided to just use the ADA line to skip the wait.

I'm in line for lap 4, my first three laps were middle row, back row, and front row. Back row SO much better. Haven't met anyone here yet that disagrees. I got here right before it came back and has been running one train so it's like 40 min waits now. So worth it though. I'm staying till they throw me out.

Very packed. And a big yes on the flash pass. I second this, it's going to be a mad house. This is one of the few weekends where I would say to just buy your flash pass online before you get there. No question you'll need it and selling it out is a possibility. I also recommend splurging on the platinum.

You can use your pass like normal for admission and parking (if gold). Unlike MM, DK doesn't have a gold pass line at the front gate. Once they open the front gate, they do rope drops into the major areas. Gold passes gain entry past the rope to the Kong/Medusa area ~10 min early, but most often you just get to go to the front of the Medusa line and wait another 10min for them to finish testing.

Yeah, I am usually good about avoiding exceptionally busy days, so that probably adds to it. But like scooter says, if this is your first time, you're short on time while in the park, or you might never come back, then just splurge on the platinum and relax. Personally for me once they made Superman a platinum only attraction, that may have nudged me into the platinum camp, because Superman for me is my least enjoyable queues. It's cramped and slow moving (especially in the "short" lane) and if the A/C isnt working can get nasty hot and smelly in there.

I know that's what they advertise, but in my experience over several years with people with both platinum and gold passes, the platinum and gold passes almost always show rides ready at virtually the same time. There might be more of a difference on exceptionally busy days, but there hasn't been on any normal day.The platinum pass is still worth it for the other things it provides, and I might get one for the first time this year for that reason.

You really cant have it both ways. The cheap way would be to get a gold flash pass and hit the excluded coasters strategically, but then you wont be able to ride everything in 5 hours. If you want to ride every coaster in 5 hours, (especially in June), you're probably going to need the platinum pass. In my experience the wait time is about the same as gold, but you need the platinum pass to buy the reservations on a coaster or two and if I remember right there are a few coasters that are just "platinum fp only" this year that dont actually require a reservation. I think Superman is one of those.

Demon actually stays pretty cool in the station, lots of tree cover. The front of the queue is partially covered, only the back is wide open. Flight Deck's station is brutal though. The man ride op is in a covered shed but everyone else is in the sun, and those plywood walls just amplify the sun too.
