  1. ^This. You are very correct, especially when we're talking about prociutto, not ham The return of the three hour lines. Wow. I couldn't handle Disney 'festive' season again I don't think, as nice as it is. Doesn't really matter since it's all about the food anyways, no?
  2. So happy that they are finally bringing back a coaster. Having only one, and a spinning mouse at that, kinda sucked. I still think that they should re-build the flyer with GG or GCI. The pic kind of looks like a Jet Star. The midway was much more fun when they had the Mark I, Wildcat and Doppel Looper running in the same year. Bringing another coaster into the mix is always a good thing The Mark 1 was fun. I think it was repainted (was all black at one point) and ran most recently in Conejo Valley/ So Cal fairs. Coasters in the old CNE skyline (thanks Mark's Postcard Paradise!) Finally bringing another coaster in. The "Name that Coaster" pic
  3. One of the best memories of Texas Giant Bash was not only enjoying the fantastic Rocky Mountain on Texas Giant, but discovering this gem. I was looking forward to riding this regardless but what a surprise it was. I think our group marathoned this most of the day. Just a fantastic ride, especially with the chaser lights on at night. This report does this ride justice
  4. First off, To everyone at TPR, wishing you, your families and everyone close a very Merry Christmas! Thanks for an awesome year! So far it's been a great Christmas! We open our gifts on Christmas Eve before doing the church stuff. This is the first time that no one other than immediate family was over, making us just four for the first time ever. It was actually really nice! That changes this afternoon lol A got a gift from the family of a Panasonic HDCTM 900K camcorder.....sweet! The porn will come out crystal clear I'm sure. To add to the Apple stuff - got the software to re-wrap the 1080p content into something my iMac can edit. I was a Windows guy who converted to Mac and became just a 'little' bit addicted -- organizing and editing content was just so much easier without all the troubleshooting and crashing. So, the family got me the big honkin' Steve Jobs bio hard cover edition. Because that's what Steve wanted. To have us not buying the iBooks edition.... Some clothings for work and life...no one needs to see everyone naked I say, without being pre-approved Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
  5. It needs to do another Stengel dive through an Ikea showroom. Then, it will be perfection I do really like the colors though and that twistiness!
  6. As long as your platinum pass voucher was purchased from Knott's, you're good. Cedar Fair parks generally let you in once with a seasons pass voucher purchased from that park. That gives you a chance to have it processed during the day once the seasons pass processing office opens. If you have a voucher from a park other than Knott's, they seem pretty strict from all the disclaimers on the voucher and on the website that you must process your voucher at the park where you bought your voucher from. That said, Cedar Fair parks are generally flexible and accommodating. If you call Knott's or the park that you bought the voucher from, no guarantees, but hopefully they can let you know how to deal with that.
  7. Wow, it is sad to see a water park, or any park go (especially at the hands of the great folks over at Irvine Co.--not that I'm still bitter about how treated one of our properties lol) Even if the park were profitable and raking it in, now that Irvine Co's plans are completed and approved for the apartment complex, they would have found a way to kick them off that piece of land regardless. A housing development is simply worth more and they would have jacked up the lease rate to compensate, which would have shut the park down anyway.
  8. Is delivery of $5.00 supposed to appear on each order? Edit: Fixed, thanks Elissa!
  9. ^^It's taller than the Québécois B&M . ^^^Nexus, is the best thing ever! Much better at airports than land crossings but always a huge help. It's hard enough to convince people to get a passport let alone going through the Nexus application process though. Assuming the new border deal is implemented, it's supposed to be streamlined.
  10. ^I hear ya, after all the effort and quality in their interactive marketing campaign, that less than stellar POV video really was a head scratcher--not really a great "grand finale" reveal after all the build up. The pics of this ride going up so far have fully wiped away those underwhelmed feelings. It looks fantastic.
  11. Done my first one. That was fun. 1) Boulder Dash 2) Balder 3) El Toro 4) Phoenix 5) Ravine Flyer II The Rest of Group 1 in no particular order My Favorite Steel The Voyage Cornball Express Prowler Thunderbolt Hades Rutschebanen Cyclone (Astroland)
  12. Ah yes, two awesome parks where TPR really challenged the attractions! Power Park had the Thunderbird Fat Train--breaking the speed of sound barrier! Groma Lund had the Fat S&S Tower, which let's be honest, just didn't have a chance to even get off the ground to actually get through a full cycle until Larry got off to lighten the load
  13. Hilton Garden Inn had some good rates as well in Valencia, if that helps anyone out.
  14. Are you talking about this? http://themeparkreview.com/mitch.htm That's it! Thanks Eric!
  15. This is my first time trying this out! Looking forward to it! Robb, last year of the year before, you had some great tip and tricks that you used to categorize, order, etc. Do you remember what year you wrote that or maybe have link to a past thread?
  16. Ok this is definitely becoming a must ride in 2012 . It's looking great! Maybe running between this and Stormrunner will make for a great day?
  17. As an overall theme/ amusement park enthusiast, I really love this park. The number one reason is its location. I can spend a few days there and not all of them involve riding anything. Now, it's no Disney but still a great place to walk around, hang out at the resort or just sit by the water. Plus having some star attractions doesn't hurt any Agree that it does so well since it offers a very balanced and enticing package, all in a fantastic location. What worked at its founding still very much works today I think. I feel a similar way about Knoebels as another example--great location and overall experience.
  18. The final part of our tour led us to a backstage look at the still currently largest waterside in the world, Wildebeest. Thanks for a great day Paula and everyone at Holiday World! Our one front of line pass really helped. This was the busiest line of the day. Going up. Going down and.. Just like magic, you're heading up again. Definitely a great time! Any conveyor belt fanatics out there? We'll end with look at the two biggies at Holiday World.
  19. Holiday World Continued... Lunch and VIP Experience! Pilgrim's Plunge up first. Paula welcomes us to the park. Mrs. Koch takes some questions and gets ready to take her group around the park for the afternoon. Holidog says thanks! Let's head over to... Pilgrim's Plunge! I really loved this ride, if mainly for the petrifying lift and that moment of truth before you drop down. To get close to the ride, we had to walk through the control booth. Intamin computer screen hotness! A little wet..sure. just a little misty.. Going up? Intamin legs... Fine. Don't wait around Splash down.. Well, something's gotta control the pilgrim? :
  20. ^Thanks Joey! Yah, it's fun going through this stuff long after. Helps me forget it's winter. So, off to an interestIng and friendly place. No, not Santa's Lodge, but Holiday World! I was really looking forward to this park mainly for the water park and Wildebeest. It did not disappoint! They also had some cool coasters and theming. Holiday World is just an all around great place to be. Raven was fantastic. Legend was fun. Voyage, well, it was one of the two roughest coasters of the trip for me, in addition to Hades, but wow, what a layout and what a ride! I really wish I could have ridden it when it was new. I'm sure the Timberliners will help out in the roughness department though. Aside from the really hot and humid weather, it was a fantastic day! Robb & Elissa won the Holiauction, featuring 48 spots for the experience of a lifetime! A personalized tour with a park director! I was lucky enough to be included in one of the groups and our Director, representing marketing, social networking and PR, was none other than Paula (Raven Maven)! The funds raised from the auction went to assist flood victims in Nashville. This was one of the coolest ways to get a truly VIP and educational experience at a fantastic park. They do what they do exceptionally well and I personally hope to get back there one day! So who's ready to get up close and personal with some cool Holiday World attractions? Here we go! It is really strange seeing Christmas stuff in the summer. This motel is umm, interesting to say the least. For a place featuring Santa, it could use a bit more jolliness The Lodge in all its glory. Ah, now that's better You can't help but feel welcome. Let's head in to check out Raven. A great ride! Walking to... Thanksgiving area. The home of... The Voyage! So happy to finally try this out. Sorry Travis, Voyage already beat you to fathering Jenn's babies. Just around the corner was this bow-legged ride of awesomeness. Getting ready for more testing in the off-season. Waiting in line for Legend. What is that dude looking at?
  21. Well, at least the park is now properly "framed" by rollie coasters I love how just the camelback is taller than Canadian Goliath.
  22. ^Exactly! They always work well in Scandi.
  23. Now there's a sentence I never expected to read anywhere. Now now let's put that in perspective...we were comparing to Bud no? It's definitely an acquired taste. I was wondering why everyone looked at me funny when I said "Yum. I love it" after tasting it LOL
  24. ^,^^. Couldn't agree more. Beverly tastes awesome...finally tried it at Epcot this year. I think it's Coca Cola's version of Brio, or other chinotto drinks from Fanta or San Pellegrino. The best American replacement of those drinks that I've tasted is Dr. Pepper. In typical North American fashion, it is milder tasting but close enough. Very happy too that Sea World parks are also free from only offering a "This Bud's for you".
  25. Ah, Liseberg. Where bunnies can be as exciting as Hefner's. Lisebergbanan started that awesome trend of "Broms!". ^Rich almost got me with his psychological warfare. Almost.
