  1. I don't know the answer to your question (I don't think it will), but had to call out the "new standard" comment. It's kinda hard to have a "new standard" when only two of a particular thing exist, and the one with the moving loading platform was actually the first one to open (by about a month). Just sayin'.
  2. Looking at news reports that come up from Google searches of "Six Flags Over Georgia Opening Day" and 2019 and 2018, it seems like they typically open in March. Next year is anyone's guess with COVID nonsense.
  3. Okay, maybe I'm dumb and just somehow missing it, but I cannot find BGT's ride maintenance schedule for 2021 anywhere on their website. Am I missing something or is it truly not posted? Reason for asking, is I was trying to decide between the first week of January or the third week of February for a trip down there, and Kumba is on my must-ride list. I found the 2019 schedule, and that year it was closed from 2/4 - 3/1, and in 2020 it was closed from 2/24 - 3/6. Going in February would be better for me for a variety of reasons, but if Kumba will be closed I feel I will be disappointed, as I don't have any plans of making another trip down there until 2022 at the earliest. Maybe it might be better just to delay the trip until later in 2021. Is there anyone on here with some inside knowledge that can perhaps shed some light? Thanks.
  4. Kings Dominion has a KOA nearby, but the nearest extant campground to KI is a KOA in Lebanon, 8 miles away. Apparently KI had a campground closer in the distant past (like the 1970's).
  5. On the plus side, I believe the MCBR allows the Flight of Fears to operate 3 trains. I'm not sure if KI's still does but I believe that KD's still operates that way. That said, I didn't notice the MCBR slow the train all that much on Kings Island's Flight of Fear during my rides this summer.
  6. I'll be going next Saturday. I'll let you know then.
  7. The point was that if KIEnthuiast is so desperate for Winterfest-lite events, options exist. Whereas his park had 4 months of a near-100% operational season while KD/CW/Carowinds got zero months of any kind of operation, which kinda removes his right to complain that KI isn't doing a Winterfest-lite like those parks.
  8. I second the notion; I've been on both and miss them. That "horizontal loop" pulled some serious Gs. At KD, it was replaced by Delirium, a type of ride I don't ride, so that's a net loss to me. Stand-ups aren't the best but they are a unique ride type that I'll be sad if they every all completely disappear. I also never experienced any of the "male-derived pain" from these but I guess I just figured out early how to properly adjust the harness to prevent that.
  9. Guess you guys all missed the fact that these ride removals are to save money. Installing a new ride in its place in the immediate future counteracts that goal.
  10. Get over it man. You've made your point and we get it; it's silly that this park did not do a Winterfest-lite. Make the 8 hour drive to KD if you want to experience that, just like all of us with KD as our home park had to drive out to KI or CP this summer to get some use of our Platinum Passes. Be happy KI had most of a mostly-normal season this year. Or go bitch on the park's FB page; you'll find more like-minded individuals there.
  11. Thanks for the input everyone, especially Elissa. As for rides, yeah I mostly go to parks for coasters, but I also enjoy a lot of flats (that aren't spin-n-pukes) if there's down-time. I'm kinda here nor there on food (I eat like a 5 year old), and yeah the butterbeer intrigues me, but not at that entry price honestly. Animal stuff is cool if I can take it at my own pace (like a walk-through zoo); not a fan of sit-down animal shows but I do enjoy comedy/theatrical/musical-review type live shows. I'll be sure to keep an eye on SWO's budget saving page LOL. Thanks again!
  12. So on a positive note, I'm planning a week-long, first-time trip to Tampa/Orlando for my birthday in February. I'm definitely planning on hitting Busch Gardens and Sea World (as I'll have the SEAS pass), as well as both Fun Spots, but I'm a bit torn about including Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. A two-park, one-day ticket would be $180-185, which I'm having a very difficult time justifying for effectively 5 major roller coasters (Mummy, Hulk, Rip Ride & Rocket, Hagrid's, and VelociCoaster if it's open). I couldn't give two cents about Harry Potter stuff so I don't anticipate enjoying Gringott's, and screen-based attractions are not my thing, nor does fancy theming in a park do anything for me. So I've got a few questions for the Universal Experts that can hopefully help me out in planning: 1. Are those 5 coasters alone worth the $180-185 admission? 2. Would it be possible to do those 5 coasters at both parks in one day on a Friday in February without an Express Pass? I'm really leaning towards skipping these parks. Note that if I opt out of Universal, I'd likely cut my entire trip by a day and save another night of hotel and car rental, so that should be factored in to the total cost as well. Please take a look at my favorites in my signature to get an idea of what I do like in coasters, and I'm a bigger fan of Kings Dominion than Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I'd be a 38 year old single person traveling alone. The full days in FL will be the 17th through the 19th (fixed, cannot change), with my current plan as Wednesday the 17th for BGT, Thursday the 18th for SWO and Fun Spots, potential Friday the 19th for the Universals (flexible on which parks on which day). Any advice on the matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  13. Agreed, this is spectacular news. More Schwarzkopf greatness in the US is always appreciated.
  14. EDIT: I was dumb and didn't realize that this is during the week when the regular park is closed.
  15. And based on your location, you're in the same "everything is over-priced" area as the others not complaining about the price. Two burgers from Hardee's (our version of Carl's Jr) would be $10-12 based on options around here. Again, I see that the pricing is "par for the course" for Southern California, but those of us in the rest of the country are more than in our right to scoff at the price. Looking around my area, I see a holiday lights drive through in Lancaster PA for $20 a car up to 8 people. That same trip through SFMM's would be $160. The most expensive one I could find in the Philadelphia region is $25, again per vehicle up to 8 people. At the end of the day, I highly doubt that anyone from not-in-the-region will be making a trip for the sole purpose of this event, so I guess it is priced just right and is a moot point.
  16. Yes, $20 a person is too much for a drive-through holiday lights show, regardless of how similarly or more stupid expensive other options in the region are. The rest of country is not Southern California.
  17. The event has been live for like not even 5 hours. Eeesh give people some time.
  18. LOL. Don't let that affect your travel plans. It's unenforceable. If you're legitimately scared of the virus with a .0007% kill rate, by all means stay home, but don't let silly edicts with no consequences that defy logic determine your behavior.
  19. You'd think so, but nope, you can still get parts...HUSS will even sell you a complete new one if you wanted.
  20. The businessman in me agrees, but the coaster nerd in me would much rather preserve one of two Intamin bobsleds remaining in the world.
  21. The reservation system for pass holders for KD's winter event is live, but it's not linked anywhere on the main page. If you go into the ticket-buying part of the site, it will appear at the top left.
  22. Hopefully Northam's new COVID restrictions don't put an end to this (or a premature end to KD's event).
  23. You and the wife will be instructed to wear masks your entire time there. The little one should be exempt.
