  1. Looking forwards to going to this park in July, how does Goliath compare to Behemoth?
  2. Adam and that coke bottle, not a good way to shake off your tag from the East Coast trip. I've still never been able to figure out what this thread has to do with Bryan Adams. Maybe when the feelings right I wanna run all night, though Orlando theme parks.
  3. I've always seen the GCI's original designs as more twister style wood coasters with some airtime elements but not as a dominant part of the design. I was talking to GCI Joe while going up the lift hill on Kentucky Rumbler about El Toro, and he was said something along the lines - we like do something that does more than just throw you out of your seat.
  4. Why would Little Amerricka get the Little Dipper when they already have the Meteor which is a clone of it? I was speaking figuratively, maybe I should have made that more obvious. I have been to Little Amerricka and ridden Meteor so I kind of do realise Meteor and Little Dipper are very similiar coasters. I'm more hoping someone will pick up Little Dipper, it looks worth saving.
  5. It comes down to a matter of preference with coasters but I personally prefer Dash, Toro, & Phoenix to any GCI I have been on, and that is unlikely to change because I like the monster airtime machines which I don't think GCI has really built something along those lines. GCI's have some good airtime but not of the magnitude of coasters like Dash plus the unique terrain setting just makes the ride even more insane. I'd love to see GCI build a psycho airtime machine but I get the impression from the GCI guys that isn't their style.
  6. Prison Song - System Of A Down
  7. Love those evening shots, nice colours. That Little Dipper looks too cute, maybe someone like Little Amerricka or Knoebels could rescue it if Kiddieland closes.
  8. "Where Is My Mind?" by the Pixies (off Surfer Rosa), damn I love the Pixies.
  9. Rock n Rolla - pretty good, a return to form from Madonna's former bitch - Guy Ritchie. It has a really snappy, interesting narrative like Lock, Stock & Snatch. 7.5/10.
  10. Northeast by a country mile for me, my 4 fave coasters are there - Phoenix, Boulder Dash, El Toro, & Superman Ride Of Steel (Bizarro - never). Midwest second.
  11. I'm glad the Voyage is running well, my rides on it in August 2007 were very good but not great. It was extremely rough and had nowhere near the extremity of El Toro's airtime, though I didn't ride at night which is something I regret.
  12. This really comes down to semantics, the dictionary definition of theme: "a unifying or dominant idea, motif, etc., as in a work of art." To me, most parks are themed (mostly with a number of areas with different themes), it's just the degree of theming that varies. I tend to think of parks that focus more on thrills or at least rides with little or no theming as amusement parks. And parks that focus more on heavily themed rides as theme parks, and I find those "theme" parks (like Disneyland) tend to be less thrill orientated. The line blurs with IOA because that has good thrill rides and heavy theming. Just my opinion, not a definitive answer. In the end I don't really mind what you class a park as, I either enjoy it or I don't and that's what matters to me.
  13. They didn't let us either on the TPR trip, except that little kiddie credit scammer Bethany. But then just before the Boulder Dash ERT, they gave us all a ride. It was hilarious - one abrupt lap, ka-ching credit, next load of freaks.
  14. Who knows, it seems like a bit too big a coaster for Little Amerricka, that place is like like an amusement park for masochistic lilliputians, it is so small. I have to admit they did an excellent job on Meteor, that was as smooth as glass though I was one of the first people to ride it I think.
  15. I'm having trouble remembering myself, I remember we were all having dinner next door, we were drinking those Kitchen Sink cocktails. I vaguely remember riding Thunderhawk at night, I might have been on the e-stop train but I can't remember. I remember ERT. I think those Kitchen Sinks created a lot of memory gaps from that night.
  16. Well I'm just glad you both came. On the trip that is.
  17. Seriously, David is pretty much a kick a$$ guy that anyone would hang out with. Totally agree.
  18. TPR East Coast: Awards, Videos, and Sad Postscript Given we had awards on the last day of which I won one award, I think it was most awesome person of all time or something like that, I can't remember. So here are my awards: Credit Whore: a bit of a smoky here, a man who was quietly crazed in the pursuit of credits - Nathan Power. Stats Lover: Matt the "speeddaemon", he counts every single lap, I wish I did I totally lost track. Happiest Female: KerryB, come on down, friendly and nice. Roxy for the Behemoth section of the trip. Happiest Male: I've never met an emo canadian, and in keeping with their ranking as the 6th happiest country in the world - Canadian Jason, step up to the podium. Biggest Chick Magnet: Oh the irony, David M collect your shiny gong, if there was a Silver medal - Captain Thunder, Scott you've got it, making all us breeders jealous. Procreation Special Award: Eric and Candace, approximately 9 months afer the trip a child was born, congratulations. Colon Health Award: Being filmed by Tony was as intrusive as a colonoscopy. Hooray for Hetero Award: Adam, jedimaster, you reclaimed the sexuality that Robb misappropriated because you got your boob credit from aman, well, I am giving you the benefit of the doubt on that one. Soon you will re-emerge as Manta-man. Ninja Warrior Princess Award: The other Power (Bethany) showed plenty of cheek to those dastardly ninjas at Martin's Fantasy Land, Sho Kosugi (Ninja great and black eyeliner trendsetter) salutes you. To be continued.... Also some POV videos from the East Coast. My 300th Credit, look out for the ironic t-shirt in front. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=9_High_Speed_l9f2[/coastertube] Oldest coaster credit presented in jolt-a-vision: [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=5_Leap_The_Dips_mrm6[/coastertube] In a sad postscript, here is my sole themepark experience since August 2008. The Scarborough fly by night carnie ghetto fest in December, I only went because my sister's kids wanted to go. The dodgems were going gangbusters, someone curb my enthusiasm - pass the valium. Warp speed, thanks Captain, the only chance of survival is if your chair landed in the nearby surf and broke your fall, and you made it out of the water before being devoured by a shark. My sister and my niece jumped on the high tech and solidly footed Wave Swinger of certain, bloody, looks like an outtake from Final Destination, death.
  19. The awful truth revealed - Elissa is Jeff Johnson. As if you'd turn down a wacky worm credit, Elissa This sounds like fun, I get really nauseous but I've always manage to keep the vomit down, so far.
  20. ^Coney Island is probably the most fun part of Luna Park, they have near vertical wooden slides and all kinds of crazy stuff, it's a shame you missed that. I posted some photos of the inside of Coney Island on packfanlv's Luna Park trip report: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47869&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20 Otherwise Luna Park is very light on for attractions, I've only been there once to it's current incarnation and it's only 10 minutes from work.
  21. Wow, 85cm seems so tall, those sessions on the rack are really paying off for KT. All I can say, grow KT grow, I really need that taxi jam credit. Liseberg looks amazing, I can't wait to be there next month, Liesbergbanan looks so unusual but I'm sure it's fun, and Balder.... I bet there is going to be some fun and games with some of the TPR Scandi tour folk squeezing on Rabalder.
  22. Some people are going to wait hours for a 45 second ride, oh well, at least they won't have to spend a fortune on drinks like at most night clubs. Which of GCI's previous creations would TS most be like or is it fairly unique?
  23. Mine have all taken forever, the source file sizes tanged from 32 mb to 47 mb & my connection was cable broadband. I'll have to time the next one exactly and also see how my connection is at the time of uploading.
  24. Sadly, still Phoenix at Knoebels on August 17 2008. Next month I should open my account with the Dog Fart coaster at Bon Bon Land.
  25. Thanks for the photos, they were fascinating. It's so cool to look at the historical stuff, I remember looking at the photos in the hallways of Hotel Breakers. There was one photo that really freaked us, it was early 1900's and it looked like a wave swinger except it was in the water on the beach.
