Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?
downunder replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
Overcast, rain rubbed out the cricket and most carols on sunday but at least it's summer. -
Guy T Koep wrote: No I was just hoping, I have absolutely no foundation for my hope whatsoever - it'll just be Thomas the Tank Engine : Ride of Puniness in SFMM's future. It would save me so much airfare money, if LA or at least Cali had SFNE's Ride of Steel and El Toro or better, I'd never go to the east coast. In fact if they were in Australia, International departures at SYD wouldn't see me for a while.

Great update, when I saw sell and didn't read the scrap metal bit for Flashback I thought maybe some rogue foreign govt had brought it as a torture device. It's going to be strange to see X (or should I say X2) as red and black. Now if only there was some Intamin pre-fabricated wood somewhere in SFMM's future, California needs more airtime.

I hope they don't actually employ the trims and kill the ride like they did to Raging Bull. I'm also hoping this one will more forceful airtime like SROS or ET rather than the floaty airtime like Nitro. -
Well used, but definitely not well loved. At least those lifegaurds at Hurricane Harbour can rest easy with the removal of something that could have potentially distracted them if it ran in summer - I don't know how they managed when it did run in summer. If they moved Flashback to New Zealand it would be their number 1 coaster.

I would be surprised if the East Coast trip hit KD on a Saturday or Sunday. Oh yeah I forgot about their other name template ........ Force. -

Cedar Fair really suck at names and have for a while, and some idiot probably gets paid a fortune to come up with them - we've got the S & M coaster Domintor, the condom coaster Magnum XL-200, and I don't think Beaver and Ride should ever go together except maybe in porn. And Maverick, how haven't they been sued, that name would have been trade marked a 100 times over. Oh and don't get started about their obsession with hawks, oh wow, a new ride we'll call it ..........hawk. I hope Hypersonic hangs around so I can get the credit on the East Coast trip though waiting in line will probably take so long I'll miss half of the other credits because I'll run out of time. -
Nice one Robb. I liked # 5, even the Santa in Silent Night Deadly Night would have been less scary. "I wanted Santa Claus not Santa Claws!" (Editor's note: maybe it was a full moon that Christmas) Well he knows who or naughty or nice, this guy must have been real naughty - from Silent Night Deadly Night.

Most Overrated coaster?
downunder replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think MF isn't so much as over-rated as much as it had the potential to be a so much better ride, too much flat track, they could have done so much more with the layout. -
I rode Flashback when it was the "new" attraction at SFMM in 1992. My appreciation of coasters has always been relative, I used to think SFMM was awesome until I went to Cedar Point, and Iused to think the coasters at CP were the greatest until I rode SROS and El Toro. So Flashback wasn't bad until I rode better, I don't ever recall getting beat up on it, I just think it was blah.

Most Overrated coaster?

Voyage wasn't anywhere near as good as I expected it to be, give me El Toro anyday. Avalanche wasn't as insane as it looks in videos. -
CD's won't be a problem, DVD's in Australia are Region 4 while the USA is Region 1, so unless the DVD player you are using has regional coding disabled, a different region will not play. BTW there are no power outlets in economy for QANTAS. Also you can look up what movies are on your flight at qantas.com.au.

Worst Coaster Ever?
downunder replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Definitely The Voyage what an overrated excrecable piece of trash - just kidding Voyage fanboys. If I exclude the mediocre & kiddie rides, the Looping Death Machine at Beech Bend wasn't real flash. -

Qantas has on demand movies with usually at least 30 to choose from, as well TV shows and games among other things, so there is plenty to amuse yourself with on the 14 hrs from west coast USA to Australia.

I'll be in Brisbane from the 20th to 26th December, I'll probably hit wet and wild & movieworld on 23rd or 24th.

2007 Mitch's Wooden Poll Results Are In
downunder replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was being tongue in cheek, a vote is a vote, and I think the vast majority are totally honest. The bottom line is too that whether they vote Voyage and El Toro #150 or #2, the head to head will still be one to the voyage and rating El Toro behind so many other coasters won't matter because El Toro will still win the comparison between it and all the other coasters except Voyage. -
2007 Mitch's Wooden Poll Results Are In
downunder replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Come on that is an easy mistake to make and it doesn't invalidate the vote. Well Voyage being number 1 isn't going to make me enjoy El Toro any less or Voyage any more. AT least ET fared better in Mitch's poll than with the Golden Ticket experts. Still, congrats to Mitch for a great poll and I'm glad he got an excellent response. Maybe Mitch needs to code a few if statements in there to pick up bulls*%* votes, like if Voyage = 1 and El Toro is less than 50, message = "stop rigging my poll bitch", send email to voter. -
