Theme Park Review's 2007 Group Trips!
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only problem is that if you start checking on prices of flights now to Tokyo for September 2007, you'll probably see some outrageous prices. Most discounts can be had 3-6 months before the departure date. When I did the TPR UK trip, the closer it got to the time of departure, the cheaper the rates became. I did check on some rates for some random dates for next month. From RSW to Tokyo, the cost was around $900. From TPA to Tokyo was around $800. I was planning on stopping over at LAX to visit SFMM and Disney. So if I fly out of LAX to Tokyo, the cost is around $680. RSW to LAX is around $300. -

You can use a Universal refill mug for a very long time. I know people who have had mugs for years and they still use them for refills. It depends on how much stuff you want to carry around. Personally, I try to fit all I need into a fanny pack. Be aware, if you do carry a backpack, you have to put them in a locker for the following rides: MIB, Mummy, Dueling Dragons, and the Hulk. The lockers are free for anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the queue time and the ride. Dueling Dragons has around a 45-60 minute free time. The Hulk, MIB, and Mummy have about a 2-3 hour free time. Well, it depends on what you want to eat. My favorite places in your price range are: IOA: Thunder Falls Terrace Enchanted Oak Burger Digs Fire Eater's Grill Confisco's USF: Ritcher's Burger I don't really like USF's food compared to IOA. I generally eat only at USF at Ritcher's. If you want to eat at Citywalk, try Jimmy Buffet's Margritaville. Many times, the full service restaurants will have a burger for a few dollars more than counter service and they tend to be tastier. Have fun!

I wonder what R&E would name their kids... Balder Alvey? Expedition GeForce Alvey? Taxi Jam Alvey? Barry Hom Alvey? No really, did you both have names for your kids? I'm sure you must have talked about it on long car rides to parks.

Nope, if you have a car, it should be OK. I stayed in Kissimee and went to Universal. I was OK. Unless you drive during rush hour, traffic isn't too bad. Just try to avoid travelling down I-4 around 4 or 5 pm. You'll have enough time. Just do stay and scream. If you have a valid day admission to Universal, you can stay in a special holding area from 5 pm to around 6 or so. As soon as a house is ready, you can experience it with a minimal wait. HHN is not too crowded on Sundays, but it still does get 60+ minute waits during the middle of the night. Invest in HHN Express if you can. It's usually not too busy in October at Universal, so the longest waits might be 30-45 minutes. The longest wait will be for Spiderman at IOA and Mummy and MIB in USF. Arrive before opening so you can ride most of the stuff with no or a short wait. IOA: Hulk, Spiderman, Ripsaw Falls, JPRA USF: Mummy, MIB NOTE: Single rider lines usually open when the regular wait is 30 minutes or mote. I've never really seen JPRA's signle rider line open. MIB's single rider line is always open unless the regular wait is next to nothing. Mummy's single rider line is usually open all the time too. Don't miss the Horror Make-Up Show at USF. It's a hidden secret and it's funny! It's a good place to relax for 30 minutes. Have fun!

IOA/HHN Discounts In October
BarryH replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You might be able to find tickets for a few dollars off for a one-day Universal ticket from AAA or www.ticketmania.com. One day ticket discounts are few and far between. As for HHN discounts, the HHN website has a Coke can discount. If you input the UPC code from any Coke product, you can get a HHN ticket at a discounted rate. Now you owe me $5. -
Halloween Horror Nights XVI
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For the onsite Universal hotels, I try to find the best deal. This doesn't necessarily mean the cheapest. I was pricing out rooms under a AAA discount for the Columbus Day weekend. Royal Pacific was $183, Hard Rock was $231, and the Portifino was $231. Based on this, the best "deal" for me was the Portifino. I think $50 more is worth the price to live in more luxury. Still, I like the Royal Pacific since the staff is the friendliest out of the 3. All 3 hotels are pretty nice, so you won't be disappointed with your choice. -
TR: Six Flags America
BarryH replied to Spideyfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For those who are afraid to go to SF parks after seeing this TR, there are actually good SF parks out there. I feel that SF parks are like a box of chocolates -- you never know what you're going to get. SFOT is the crown jewel of all the SF parks. If you want to see how to run a SF park well, go here! I went to SFOT when it was wall to wall people over Spring Break in March and I still managed to have a lot of fun. All SF managers should be sent to SFOT to see how that park is run. SFOG, SFGAm, SFGAdv, and SFFT are pretty good SF parks. I wasn't too fond of SFMM, though. SFMM is like "the world's largest collection of poorly-run coasters!" Still, SFA isn't that bad. It could be better, but not too bad. Just try to avoid Saturdays or holidays!
