"The Tasting of the Beverly" video
BarryH posted a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Here it is...you can see how tasty or revolting the Beverly is at Epcot's Ice Station Cool. I know the video quality isn't too good, but I had to compress it way down to get it posted here. No complaints about the video quality please or I will force you to eat the "Balsamic Donkey" at Mythos! It's in .wmv format. Enjoy! Head to SoCal in less than a week!
BarryH replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hmm...Knott's or SFMM on a Wednesday...hmmm... My only worry is that since Wednesday is an off-season day, will most of the stuff be closed? I suppose a lot is closed anyway, but what is the lesser of two evils? -
Why aren't there more dark rides?

Aren't there omnimovers in Buzz Lightyear? -
I have a video of "The Tasting of the Beverly." I'll post it when I can squeeze it down to 5 MB or less.

Head to SoCal in less than a week!
BarryH posted a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, I'm about a week away until I visit SoCal and ride some coasters. OK, they aren't the best coasters (at least that's what Robb says), but coasters nonetheless. I'm debating on whether or not switching my SFMM day from Sun., May 1 to Wed., May 4. I'm concerned about crowds on Sunday, but Wednesday has 2 less hours than Sunday. I might have to visit the most excellent Knott's on Sunday then! Any last minute tips? -
New Six Flags Season Pass!
BarryH replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hadn't thought of that. I checked the Six Flags web site and sure enough, August 28 is a private event. There's private events in May too. I wonder why those dates weren't printed. Hmmm... -
New Six Flags Season Pass!
BarryH replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just out of curiosity...why is the Elitch Gardens season pass not good on Sunday, August 28? My SFOG season pass has no such restriction! -
I've always wondered...why is Deja Vu down more often than it runs? I've never understood why it is down so often. I guess I'm lucky since I rode Deja Vu at SFOG. I didn't get it ride it at SFGAm though. I'm not sure how my luck will hold at SFMM.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
BarryH replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The last coaster I rode was Revenge of the Mummy at USF last Sunday. It's not the biggest, fastest, tallest, smelliest, donkiest, etc. coaster, but it sure is a lot of fun! -
Has anyone here ever been to Strickler's Grove
BarryH replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've read some TRs on Strickner's Grove on Coasterbuzz.com. It seems like the park opens at 3 pm on the days that it's open to the public. So you can probably do Wyanot Lake for a few hours before heading to Strickner's. I think Columbus is about 1.5 to 2 hours away from Stricker's. I know because I was thinking of a trip to Strickner's too. -
Robb and Elissa have said to arrive early at a theme park to get on the rides with a miminal amount of wait. Well, they are correct! I went to IOA on Sunday, 4/10. I arrived at 8:30. People were being let in at around 8:45 and were able to get on the rides too. In the first 45 minutes, I did 2 Hulk coaster rides, 1 Fearfall ride, and 1 Spider-Man ride. I only had to wait a few minutes. At around 11:00, the waits for the same rides were 30 minutes! Other things I noticed at IOA and USF: - The guess your weight/age booth in the Lost Continent had winged donkeys! I guess I should have won one for Robb. - Mythos is great! - At USF, the second Shrek 4-D theater opened and it cut down on wait times signifcantly. I also went to the Holy Land Experience on 4/9. The place was well-done, but it felt like church with a $30 admission fee.

Who do you know at parks?
BarryH replied to GalacticHero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know a few people who work at IOA and USF. I knew someone who was a big wig and I got a behind the scenes tour of Spider-Man. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I ate at the Happy Days Resturant when I was at Carowinds last week. The food was pretty good. The burger came with a ton of waffle fries. At other parks, you're lucky if you get a dozen fries. They just piled on the waffle fries! -
HEY! Who said that you can go to SDC on May 1? I'll be at SFMM on May 1. My custom title is becoming truer every day.

Long wait times?
BarryH replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went to Hersheypark on a Saturday and it was crowded! Wildcat had an hour wait. It was wall to wall people! -
BGT has never allowed cameras on their coasters, so I doubt you will be able to get one on SheiKra. Other camera policies: IOA/USF: No cameras or videotaping on any rides. You can videotape shows and rides from the ground. Sea World: No videotaping or photography on the rides. Everyplace else is fair game. WDW: No videotaping or photography in Honey I Shrunk the Audience, TOT elevator, on the coaster in RnRC, and other parts of RnRC (depends on the Cast Member). Also, Alien Encounter had no videotaping or photography. Not sure if Stitch is the same. WDW is the most liberal of all videotaping. If they don't want you videotaping, there will be an annoucement made several times before each ride or show.

On 29 April I'll be in......CALIFORNIAAAAAAA!!!!
BarryH replied to Noemi's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How do we meet? Well, we'll say show up at a certain spot and we'll meet you. I'll probably have to set up times to meet. It'll probably be 9 am at the front SFMM gates and perhaps noon at some Six Flags slop restaurant. You can also spot me with a purple Burrito Bros. t-shirt. I'm also a tall Asian. That shouldn't make me hard to spot. -

Rode Cheetah at Wild Adventures this weekend
BarryH replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm so not looking forward to L.A. traffic! But hey, it can't be that bad. In "24," Jack drove from downtown L.A. to the suburbs in 3 minutes! -
I had a chance to ride Cheetah at Wild Adventures on Saturday, April 2. The re-tracking is done on this woodie. How does it ride? Well, it's a lot better than what it had been. The last time I rode it, it felt like I was sitting on a jackhammer. It was definitely in the top 10 POC. Now, if you ride the front seat, the ride is pretty smooth, but not too intense. You get a few moments of OK airtime. The further back you go, it gets pretty rough. The back seat felt the fastest, but also the roughest. In any case, I rode Cheetah 5 times. It's not a bad coaster, but not top 10. I also headed up to Carowinds on Sunday. The first two hours was just dead! I was able to do all the coasters except for Goldrusher (down until the afternoon) and the Super Saturator (down due to high winds). Speaking of winds, Carowinds really takes up its name. Boy, was it windy! I was seating lunch at the outdoor seating at the Happy Days Diner. My lunch was just about to blow away! The only indoor seating restaurant (the chicken place, I forget the name) was closed. I think the longest wait all day was 45 minutes for Stealth, er, Borg Assimilator. It broke down and went to a 1 train operation. Earlier in the day, the wait was 15 minutes. Still, it was a fun weekend. Saturday had really terrible traffic. I wanted to head up to SFOG because I was done with WA by 2, but traffic was backed up on I-75 for miles. I headed to I-95 to hit Charlotte via I-26 and I-77, but I-95 was backed up for miles every 20 miles or so. Hotels were sold out left and right. I was able to find a roach motel about a mile off I-77 on some backroad. I wonder why traffic was so bad. I know it was Spring Break for many places in GA and SC, but what the heck was going on?

April Fools! Hey, you said we could ask anything. If Elissa won't marry me, will Robb?
