Honestly, I just want a coaster t-shirt that is a simple solid color with the damn ride logo on it. Why is it that 99% of all coaster shirts are these gaudy, lavish designs that take up the entire front of the shirt? I want something that I can wear someplace other than a theme park and not feel like an uber dweeb.

2009 Theme Park Attendance Report

Wow, Cedar Point didn't hit 3 million visitors for the first time in how long???? Canada's Wonderland and King Island beat out the Point in 2009. -

The grouper should NEVER let singles ride together if they are indeed part of a group, or put singles together just because the single riders line is getting too long. If the SR line is taking too long, people will leave it on their own. Even at Disney when I worked at Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, our answer at grouper was simply "No, you can either split up or exit." Our managers strictly told us to not let anyone abuse the SR line. People tried all day long to skip the standby line and ride together using the SR line, claiming that they "didn't know". Really though, I don't have a problem with people using the SR line if they are indeed part of a group so long as they are willing to split up once they get to the station. It still makes the standby line shorter. -
Cedar Point Job Advice Needed

Cool! Being a sweep is actually a pretty sweet gig, and you're likely to have the chance to pick up extra hours in rides since you're under the same department. Keep us updated! -

I would try calling as well. They're ALWAYS hiring, all the way through the summer, so it's not like they're full. What jobs did you apply for? -
I'll second the statement that Matterhorn's "roughness" is what makes it such an amazing ride. It's the same thing that makes an old log flume fun - you're bouncing all over the place! You can't just sit back and relax on Matterhorn. You have to ride defensively, and that was fun! If I want to ride a smooth coaster, I'll go across the way to DCA and ride Screamin'. Here's to hoping that the ride experience isn't changed too much from the addition of new trains...

What's even more impressive is that everything that was shown in the initial 3D rendering was actually built! Now just crossing my fingers that there's going to be some awesome effects in the tunnel! -

By expensive shoes, we don't mean nice shoes, we mean durable shoes. Obviously any shoes you wear to work are going to go through a lot. Just don't expect them to stay nice and shiny, but you want to wear shoes that are going to be be durable and not literally fall apart like I've seen so many employees wearing. As a ride operator, you're going to need to wear shoes that are at least 90% white. If you get to the park and are moved to a different ride than what is on your employment agreement, don't panic. Even without asking to be moved, almost all ride operators get to work more than one ride eventually. If you make it clear to your supervisors and managers that you are interested in moving to a different ride, they're going to do their best to make it happen. If you do a good job at the ride you get placed at, you'll be even more likely to get to move to a different location. It is totally unrealistic to go there only wanting to work one specific ride and say you'll quit if you don't get your way. That's not how the world works. -

CP veteran here! 2010 will be my 5th season working at the park, and this summer I'll be the Team Leader of Magnum! As for advise, be prepared to work a lot, get a lot of sun and not so much sleep! Live in Commons Dorms at all costs. Cedars Dorms is closing in on being 100 years old (not even exaggerating about that... my Images of America book has it dated 1915, and God help me if it's seen any sort of renovations since then). Don't get your heart set on working any particular ride, especially if you're arriving after training week like you are. However, once you're there, you can always ask to be moved, and chances are you'll get to work more than one ride anyway. Give your ride the attention and respect it deserves. The last thing you want is for someone to be injured on your ride when it could have easily been prevented by simply paying attention. You don't want that on your conscience. Be prepared to answer the same stupid questions all day long and have guests do the same stupid things all day long. Don't let it get to you. You have to realize that while you're around the ride all day every day and get to watch its operation for 60-plus hours a week, most of the guests may only spend a total of three minutes loading and unloading at your ride all day long and are going to have some trouble. Help them out and laugh about them with your crewmembers after work. Likewise, you're going to get yelled at by guests possibly on a daily basis. Learn to deal with it or you're going to crack. Don't lose your head even if they do. Be the bigger person and enforce the policies consistently. All in all, have fun! Someone else said something like this, but don't treat it so much as a job... rather as an extension of your passion for parks and coasters. This is your chance to be one of those awesome ride hosts that I'm sure you've experienced at parks you've visited! And say hi if you see me! My name is Brian! -
It goes down a lot for wind, but as soon as it calms down, you can bet it'll be back up and running. There's a crew scheduled to run it every day, who are more than likely sweeping for the duration of the wind. I agree, however, that there is probably an attraction in the works for that plot of land formerly taken up by Demon Drop.

Personally, I think that SFMM could get Superman to reach 100mph again if they really wanted to, but there's also a cost factor that plays into it. It's got to be more expensive to launch a train at 100mph as opposed to 80 or 85mph (when it comes to supplying electricity to the LSMs). The few extra seconds of ride time and almost unnoticeable speed increase simply aren't enough to warrant spending the extra dough. I'll also buy into the theory that the computers simply can't handle the car going that fast with any sort of reliability... if you think about it, all other LIM/LSM launched coasters top out at around 60-70mph... perhaps Intamin was biting off more than they could chew when they proposed the 100mph figure! On another note, I can't imagine how LOUD it must be to have two trains racing up the tower together if you were standing directly underneath it... YIKES!!!

Tell me about it! I want to go back to the days of no air gates on platforms, no additional seatbelts and being allowed to bring anything and everything onboard with you! Sigh... -

^ Unfortunately, I think it comes down to insurance premiums and parks not wanting to be sued if something should go wrong. Anyone who has ridden an Intamin ride with these OSTRs can tell you that the lapbar portion of the restraint does ALL of the restraining. -

Part of me wants to believe that they're "teasing" us with the trains because there is something super-awesome about them. But deep down I'm pretty sure that they're teasing us because they know all the bitching is going to start all over again as soon as they're unveiled. -
The GCI Mystery Project
southpuddle replied to atem122's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm leaning more toward the side that this is just a conceptual rendering rather than a real coaster in the works. I just can't imagine any park letting GCII post renderings of their new coaster on their Facebook page before it's actually been announced. But who knows??? -
Eh. Worst Six Flags park I had ever been to, if not the worst of my 50+ parks period, based on a trip last year. One of only two parks that I honestly just wanted to get in, grab the credits and GTFO (the other being SFNE). It's sad to see any park go, but if it had to be one park that I had already visited that got the axe, SFKK would definitely be it. Here's to hoping the Anton finds a new home.

I don't know where everyone is getting the idea that there is going to be music, lights, fire, an inclosure or any effects or theming other that some red and black paint and shoe-shaped cars. The press release mentioned none of this, and I can guarantee that it's going make Gadget's Go Coaster look like the most incredibly immersive experience ever. While it's an okay addition, the park could have used a non-coaster ride FAR more than they could have used this.
