2007 Mitch's Wooden Poll Results Are In
CoasterLover replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Something to note... El Toro was preferred 36 to 30 over The Voyage among those who rode them both this year. I know I was one of those people who rode the Voyage AND El Toro this year and preferred El Toro over the Voyage. I just felt Voyage was just to violent to really be enjoyable. I really wanted to enjoy Voyage, I had envisioned it rising to my #1 spot, but as much as I tried (I rode it in the front, the back, the middle, hands up, holding on), I just couldn't enjoy it... at least not as much as I enjoyed El Toro. Now, 2007 was my first ride on Voyage, and I'm sure it was at least SLIGHTLY smoother in 2006. Layout wise, Voyage is AWESOME, but I'm guessing just the fact that I did NOT ride it in its inaugural season hurt my opinion of the ride. And my guess is, as more people ride/re-ride Voyage, many other opinions will sway the same way. -

If you go by the facts given... Length: 1213 Capacity: 32 Manufacturer: Mack "six 180-degree hairpin turns, climb unseen hills" It's a standard Mack wild mouse (ala the one at Hershey Park) just indoor... the description matches PERFECTLY. I mean, hopefully the themeing will make it one of the best wild mouse coasters ever, but as for the ride itself, I'll be a monkey's uncle if it isn't just the standard Mack Wild Mouse..

Overrated Parks
CoasterLover replied to What Now's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd have to go with Holiday World. I mean Voyage is good and all (though I think El Toro is significantly better), but everything else is just "meh"... I enjoyed Raven and Legend, but they're not top 10 coasters for me by any means (probably not even top 20). It's a nice little park for what it is, but overall, it's WAY overhyped by the coaster community. -
Not sure if anyone has found this yet... but on the 9/17 entry on Nantimi's main page, if you scroll your mouse over "client relations", you'll notice it's a link to a picture with the title "LukeSandor"... There's the pic... who's S. Kernacs? Is that the same guy in the pic? Who's Luke Sandor? Let me know if anyone else has already posted this or what the answers are if we already know... [EDIT]... nevermind... S. Kernacs is refering to Sandor Kernacs of Intamin... continue on...

As per the original article... This could be interpreted several ways, so I guess it's all up to debate. It also says that the lady "leaned" over, which (to me at least) implies that the action was in jeopardy of exposing her chest, not her backside... again, I guess a lot of this article is interpretation...

It doesn't matter that the last picture on the camera turned out to be a blury picture of the sky... the issue is that this kid was knowingly TRYING to take a picture down this woman's shirt and there are whitnesses. He obviously was trying to "covertly" take a picture of something he knew he shouldn't be taking a picture of because he did it with the camera behind his back, and people saw him do it. The fact that the picture didn't turn out like he expected it to is irrelevent, the intent was still there. In my opinion, this is no different than if someone had pointed a camera under a toilet stall door and snapped a picture of who ever was in there. Even if the picture was of the ceiling, the intent was still there. The subject was not knowingly exposing themselves, but the photographer took advantage of the situation.

SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread
CoasterLover replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know lots of little things from around SFNO have been showing up at other Six Flags parks around the country, but nothing as large as any rides or anything, just themeing/signs/shade structures/benches/ect. -
Batwing has three. The trains are increadibly complex. For a few seasons, Batwing always had one of the three trains in the shop and it would go on rotation which train would sit off for the season. This year, they're TRYING to get the third train on the track to be used as a back up train if any of the other two should go down. Personally, I find when the coaster is running two trains and both stations, the line moves plenty fast (SIGNIFICANTLY faster than two trains and one station).

La Ronde Discussion Thread

If I understand the system correctly, the new system makes everything connect through a wireless system removing the need to actually go to the ride to reserve your place in line. You just select the ride you want on your Q-bot from anywhere in the park, and vua-la!, you're place in the virtual queue is reserved. It removes the need to have those boxes to scan your Q-bot thus greatly reducing the cost of the ride and making it MUCH easier to add additional rides. -

It has, but last weekend they discovered a problem with one of the bogies on the purple train resulting in them needing to remove the entire train from the track. As the yellow train isn't back from off season yet, it left the ride trainless last weekend. They've had the whole week off to work on it, so I'm guessing it will have at least one train back by this weekend. -

As for rides being open, it's pretty simple: ~If the temp is above 50*, everything should be open... ~If the temp is between 45 and 50*, everything but Superman and Joker's Jinx should be open. ~If the temp is between 40 and 45*, all the flats, the woodies, and possibly Batwing should be open. ~Below 40*, you'll be lucky if any of the coasters run (MAYBE the woodies) and the flats will be figgity. When the temps get up to the right level for each ride, it'll take about an hour or two of testing before the ride can open. (ie, if the temps are up in the 50s by 9:00 am... everything SHOULD be open by the time the park opens. If temps don't get into the 50s until noon, don't expect Superman open till early afternoon) Opening day ran VERY smoothly at the park, as the temps went up, the coasters opened, and ALL of the flats were up all day (with just one early morning hiccup on Tower of Doom). They even had Renegade Rapids open in the 40* weather. Skull Mountain (formerly Typhoon Seacoaster) is currently undergoing modifications and won't be ready until May, don't count on riding that...
