  1. I was suprised at how different the 2 sides felt even though that initial drop plus those brakes that stop you only take up 20ft of the drop, both sides felt different when you hit the bottom, although both were great fun.
  2. Dejiki and screamscape are both being cryptic about whatever happened making it sound like something bad could have happened, does anyone know more? they are stating the ride will be down for a long rehab again. http://dejiki.com/2013/07/uss-update-jul13/
  3. Not to be that jerk but isn't it Blue Fall? Hahaha although Blue Fire makes me think of an energy drink for some reason also what the heck is that giant blue in front of the ferris wheel, I don't remember it being there last year, I hope it doesn't block out the ferris wheel when it's finished, I liked that view from where you took your picture. The splash boats were running last year, they don't jump anymore but I hope they are still running. I don't remember any bumper boats with dolphins around them either otherwise i'd have rode it, Is it new?
  4. Sorry to bump an old topic but does any-one have experience getting to ocean park by public transport? We are staying one stop away from central but we will take the subway to wherever is the best place to get the bus. The Ocean Park website seems to make it that you should take 629 from admirality but it says the bus finishes at 4pm running? surely there must be buses for people who want to stay until closing time? Also since my girlfriend is bugging me about making sure we go at the best time, when is the best time to see the pandas?
  5. British Tabloid reports cruelty at Sea World..... http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/5038505/seaworld-cruelty-trainers-stranded-dolphin.html
  6. http://www.tomonews.net/2013/07/22/107039/ That's giving me the texas giant video, not the shoot the snake river rapids video
  7. Hahaha when hiking with my co-teachers here in Korea, they have restaurants/grocery stores where they serve up basic food and have tons of snacks and food to buy all the way up the mountain, i'd hate to be the ones who carry it all up. They also get more expensive the higher you go.
  8. The ride was re-listed as open a few hours later after that photo so i'd say its safe to assume it was more a maintenance issue than a train breaking in two again.
  9. This gives me an idea for a new word filter! EDIT: DONE! Awesome, I love what it's done to my original post too, although after I wrote it I realized that doesn't NTAG actually cluck? I thought there was a chicken exit for people too scared to ride, perhaps in the interviews the reporters misheard and people really did hear a cluck. I can't wait to browse the games section help topics, i'm sure this word filter is going to make talk about left clicking and right clicking hilarious.
  10. Did you read the previous pages, the seats don't click or clack or cluck or even quack, they are hydraulic.
  11. How long would it normally be until a preliminary report would be released for this kind of incident? Since it seems right now there are already different versions of the story popping up and fingers pointed all over the place at who could have been at fault for this, I was just wondering how long it would take until there's a clearer picture.
  12. Wow I was surprised by how many responses were of parks in-house manufacturing or designing roller-coasters, I think in my mind making a flat from scratch seemed easier and cheaper but now I think about it I can see where making a roller-coaster could just as well be achieved so thanks for all your responses, it gives me home that sometime down the line, the rct wooden reverser may be recreated by a park somewhere (although yes I realize turntables can do the same purpose and achieve the same results but I just always wanted to see a real life version)
  13. I read a year or two ago about how Adventure Island in Southend were designing and making their own flat ride, I was bored so I decided to look it up and see what they made and was quite surprised by what they made, for a small non-chain park, it looks like a really fun big flat ride. I realize a lot of the bigger companies out there will design and patent rides but I can't think of many smaller parks out there that have made their own, are there many? And what are the best ones people have ridden? This is Adventure Island's ride, called the Time Machine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyFhaJTAhqc
  14. I was curious so I went to have a look since with Robb and Elissa's help I managed to make a list of the websites where you could find the Rehab Schedule since Japanese&Korean parks are awesome at letting customers know well ahead of time if you look on their native language websites, I thought they might have a notice about retiring it but there wasn't and after some clicking found both are still listed on the family attraction page: http://www.tobuzoo.com/park/list/classic/ I was going to say how strange it is that a park would have 2 similar rides so close together but then I remembered that Lotte World just opened its 4th 3D Screen ride in the park this year and Everland built it's 3rd chairlift/gondola last year and second safari ride next to the other this year
  15. Wow i'd just assumed the new air con ferris wheel had replaced the old one I rode last year but it's in a different location since I can see the old one in your pictures, are they running both or is the old one just SBNO?
  16. Final Part: Tokyo Culture Stuff Sorry for the huge delay, end of term reports and parent open classes got in the way, I can finally upload the last few pictures of a round-up of the non-coaster stuff I did while in Tokyo. Mainly this is pictures of the ghibli museum which I was hugely interested in seeing, things I did when the rain meant I couldn't go coaster hunting and the temple that led me to get a credit I didn't realize was so close by. I couldn't leave Japan without visiting a sushi conveyer belt restaurant, asfter 3 years of korean sushi this was delicious. Although not as delicious as the home cocking near my hotel. Excelsior!!! Coffee wasn't great but I visited this place daily purely for it's great name Even the map in the hotel for visiting looked ghibli-styled The bus to take you to the museum, normally i'd have walked even in the rian but the bus looked too awesome Lots of little details No photos are allowed inside sadly. Even on rainy days this place was packed, I wish i could have gone in the morning since people from the earliest slot were still in the museum but only tickets for the 2pm visit were available, the restaurant had an hour wait and the gift shop was more packed than a japanese subway Totoro is waiting for the tickets It's a great looking building Fancy tickets amd shopping bags Apart from the movie where else was this robot seen? One of the first ghibli movies released under the ghibli name and the second ghibli move I saw. A rainy Tokyo Tower The temple was crowded yet on the same first sunny day of the week (and a saturday) Tobu Zoo was empty I never did find basashi ice-cream to take a picture of it, any-one from the TPR trip see it or even know of its existance Although I never found strawberries and milk pepsi either Thew sky tower wasn't open when I visited It's a real working temple, I've visited a few in Korea but there have been nowhere near the amount of people, it was kind of strange to see people having service as thousands of tourists took pictures Lots of people watching people having prayers I think it's law that all temples have incense and koi fish I don't know why but the (e) cracks me up Shinjuku was a great place to stay i'm glad my hotel was only two subway stops away so I could walk back each night through shinjuku I left Korea on vacation and yet everywhere I looked was korean-pop music being advertised I feel like I played a game recently and this was in the background The famous crossing Thank you for my favourite episode of Futurama
  17. Don't forget the smoke effects with lighting at night
  18. I like to think they blow nearly all their budget on one actor/actress with "real star-power" like Tara Reid and the restis just an after-thought. Although the amount of articles that have appeared for sharknado in the last 12 hours is quite astounding.
  19. Apparently getting excited about made for syfy movies and discussing them afterwards is the new hip thing, some-one should point out TPR have been doing that for years.
  20. But what about the hippos? Some-one please think of the hippos
  21. I always like the Asian services when it comes to taking care of your stuff or parking the strollers for you, I was always a fan of Lotte Worlds valet service on Atlantis when they wheel the trolley over for you to put your stuff in and then wheel it over when you get out, I understand wheeling it over when you board makes for faster loading since people don't have to walk over and shelve it but I always find it amusing when I disembark and something that is only 5 steps away is wheeled over to me.
  22. Sadly there has been a donkey death, the status "Beware of the Magic Donkey at Lotte World" may need to have a new donkey found , the donkey wasn't there at the start of this year but they had a few art paintings and sculptures so I hoped it was temporary but I managed to go last weekend and the same boring apple sculpture was still there whereas all the others had now gone so i'm pretty sure he's been put down. I preferred the donkey. This apple doesn't shit anything interesting
  23. Although I have a PC I was also curious if the second fundraiser would be added to the total for the stretch goals. the second fundraiser has been running for a while so 30,000 more seems feasible.
  24. Are there that many rides that launch first then have a lift hill half way through out there as opposed to lift hill first then launch and pretty much keeping the momentum going? So far all I could think of was Takabisha, Powder Keg and Atlantis Adventure but i'm sure there must be many more out there.
