  1. Hell, they might as well open TTD and Windseeker too!
  2. ^ I agree...the 2nd half of Voyage was really bad for us too. I have to assume based on what people have said on here that we must have ended up on a wheeled row and it's my fault for not insisting that we sit in the front row! But they were only running one train to where it felt like you could take a nap in between ride cycles - and with the heat, we just wanted to get on as quickly as possible so I think that we ended up somewhere in the 4th or 5th row. Not a lot of people in line, but the ones that were, all seemed to be waiting for the front seat - guess they knew what they were doing.
  3. It's a bit of a jaunt for us, but I would go back just for Shivering Timbers in the front seat and Founders Brewery in Grand Rapids!
  4. ^ But he understands the suckiness that IS La Ronde, so this isn't going to come as a shock to him.
  5. I'll take any good news about the park that I can - I'm glad to hear that they are funding some much-needed improvements. Interesting that they are expanding Camperland though as it didn't seem all that busy when we stayed there a few years ago on a holiday weekend. It was actually a little dumpy (bathrooms were gross and the sites were bumpy and not mowed) so I hope that this expansion means cleaner, better tended sites, new bathrooms, and makes for a nicer overall experience.
  6. ^^ Completely agree and that's just what we did! Luckily, all of the coasters were open during our visit so we got to ride all of those - some without any wait at all. I think that there were only a couple of rides not operating....the train, the flyers and the 1001 Nachts-like ride (which was literally in pieces). Really hope that the park can get things turned around before it's too late.
  7. I would like to go back eventually and try Voyage in the front seat at night, but yeah, count us as ones that were not fans of it. Granted we only rode it once after spending most of the day in the water park. Like coasterbill's visit, it was so oppressively hot & humid that I only did one lap on each coaster, did the flume and the swings before we called it quits and headed out. Maybe we rode on a wheel seat on Voyage or something, but our ride was extremely brutal - like pretty close to Son Of Beast brutal. I believe that they have done track work since our last visit a few years ago so it sounds like that may have helped it out. Interesting that Raven was one of the rougher coasters as that was the smoothest one that I rode out of the three. I figured that it might have been due to the fact that I waited for the front seat though.
  8. ^ Because...ya know...it's La Ronde. All kidding aside, I agree with the OP that it was likely a maintenance issue with getting replacement parts, or it was structurally not safe and they decided to invest the capital elsewhere. Or maybe they'll take it out and build a Shoot The Rapids clone?
  9. Thanks for the report, Chuck! The ghost pepper guac sounds (and looks) really good and I would have loved to sample the food from the India and Asia booths.
  10. ^ That really sucks. Another legend lost.
  11. ^ Same thing happened with Mean Streak and Hurler at KD in the years prior to the RMC surprises - ya never know.
  12. Minebuster would be a great candidate for an RMC remake...let's hope it happens.
  13. Hopefully that get that resolved soon, but I agree...turn it off for now until they get it fixed the right way. Thanks for sharing the report, the park looks beautiful & the food and drink options look great!
  14. It's one of the smaller (if not the smallest) Six Flags parks in the chain. It used to be called Storytown, USA and was themed to a lot of the Mother Goose stories - many of which still remain at the park. To be honest, it's probably one of the nicer SF parks in the chain despite not having near the thrills of say SFMM or SFGAdv....great place for families with little ones - and a pretty decent water park too. I think the reason behind only 48 pages of posts is due to it being a smaller park in the chain that doesn't have 15 roller coasters.
  15. ^ Founders is awesome. If you ever decide go to Michigan and check out Michigan's Adventure, I highly recommend a side tour to Grand Rapids to their brewpub. Great food and great beer! Oh, and I am having an Elysian Space Dust IPA after buying a 6 pack at Wegmans the other day. A friend of mine lives near the brewery in Seattle, although he said since Inbev bought it, the quality of the beer has deteriorated from what it used to be. It's an okay IPA, but no where near as good as my Southern Tier!
  16. ^ As many have said, night rides are where it's at for The Beast. I have never ridden anywhere but the front seat at night, but it sounds like coasterbill had a great ride in the back at night too.
  17. ^ Glad that you had a great day...and yes, it sounds like you now have a son with a new coaster obsession!
  18. To be fair, I don't recall Prozach or myself complaining about the park losing it's charm and then complaining about not having Fast Passes or alcohol. I see after reading several other posts where you are coming from though. Don't get me wrong...I certainly don't dislike the park by any means. I love it that a family-owned amusement park can continue to add world class rides (belly up to the bar, so to speak) without the corporate "flash & feel" of the bigger parks out there. And in my opinion, HW probably has one of the (if not THE) best water park in the country. My post was merely a "boy, it would be great if..." type of observation. I liked the park (despite not "feeling the love" with regards to Voyage and Legend), so no hating going on here. Now back to our regularly scheduled CP park discussion!
  19. 'Tomorrow' - from the muzakal: Annie. But I'll likely be watching some Thee Oh Sees videos on You Tube videos later when I'm drunk.
  20. ^OMG...I missed those posts about the shed! What thread are they in? Here is my vote though: ^ Edit - I never noticed your signature...love that too!
  21. Great report as always! I really, really like Lake Compounce...classic and thrills with some quirkiness thrown in for good measure. But I have to say...here is TPR's new best quote of the week/month: And one could feel free to substitute the Buffalo Bills over the Browns into that little zinger too!
  22. ^^^Thanks for sharing, Mark...I always love the food and booze reports! And I like the 'We Are Orlando' t-shirt too - very cool!
  23. Can't say that I disagree with this really. While we loved the water park, the lines were extremely long (on a mid-June weekday), so a Fast Pass system just for the water park alone would work wonders. The amusement park was dead, but we literally did the dry side in about an hour and we were ready to leave - mainly because it was like 95 degrees and Michael was done with all rides after we both took a pretty good ass-kicking on Voyage. And yeah, a cold beer in the 90+ degree sun would have been "heaven"! Back to CP - I guess that I didn't realize that they no longer had bins on Magnum & Rougarou. They have never had bins on TTD or MF because of the loading/unloading stations & I couldn't recall if they did or didn't on Gatekeeper or Valravn because I always wear zip shorts in the parks to protect my valuables whilst riding.
  24. Since Elissa brought up the suggestion, that we get back to those l-o-c-k e-r-s.... I have questions about them. I know there are all day l-o-c-k e-r-s at the front gate. And I have the list of coasters that have their own "limited time" storage bins in front. Questions: If you use one of the bins at a coaster for say, 4 hours, can you take stuff out, and/or put stuff back into them? Or once you open it again, is that it for using them? And are there still any coasters with storage bins on the exit side of the train on the platform? I remember finding this out at Goliath in SFMM, after I put $ into a bin at the entrance gate. Then I went through that long long queue, and then found out I could of put my stuff on the exit side, in a bin. Any kind of a list would be great, thanks. (Planning in advance for CoasterMania! and CP in June) Hey Bill - I have attached the l o c k e r rates for your reference (which you've probably already seen). I believe that you can load/unload during that duration of time, but you might want to ask before your purchase to be sure. What I am not sure of is if they have gone to the scanner bracelets at the rides or still have the old fashioned keys. And not to beat a dead horse here, but I am EXTREMELY happy to hear that CP handled the situation with our gay poster in the manner that they did. That is true class, professionalism & customer service at it's best. Not entirely surprising being that it's CP, but it just cements my belief that it really is one of the finest amusement park in the world (or at least they will be once they complete "you know what" at the back of the park!).
