  1. ^ I don't know what's crazier...the horrible clientele or that you had a great ride on The Boss. LOL Seriously though, that is some crazy stuff that you witnessed at the park. I'm glad that Michael and I hit it when crowds were manageable and people were mostly well behaved. I really wish parks would stop giving those f%cking basketballs away at the games as prizes. Annoying AF.
  2. ^ Sorry to hear that. We went earlier in the season and while there were a lot of rides down, I kind of expected it being right at the beginning of the season. I am not sure if I would deem The Boss "unacceptable", but it was certainly a "one and done" ride for me due to its roughness. Other folks have mentioned having great rides on it this year, so...like a lot of other wooden coasters, it seems like you can catch them on a good or bad day or you either get a good seat or bad one.
  3. While it is hard to find new theme park related gifts without actually visiting the parks, you might want to check Ebay. I have found a lot of theme park related stuff on there...although shirts were usually of the gently-used variety.
  4. Glad to hear that you got to ride the "good" Blue Streak, Bert! I had never had a particularly bad ride on Blue Streak...some good ones in the front and a lot of "meh" anywhere else. Also - WOW at the amount of ERT that you guys got on SV and Maverick. I could only imagine going back and forth on both of those coasters with no wait. I would be exhausted just from that alone! Looking forward to all of the reports now!
  5. ^ Sorry to hear about your rough rides on RF2. I drove out a couple of weeks ago, bought the Wally card and did two rides on it - once in the next to last seat and once in the front. Both rides were sublime. Didn't do any other rides, but I agree that Steel Dragon is a fun little coaster and maybe even a bit underrated given all of the attention that RF2 gets.
  6. I don't think Dorney or Michigan's Adventure have one, do they? What about Valleyfair?
  7. ^^ Yeah, but I have a feeling that he might get in a couple last rides on it soon.
  8. Interesting news, but I don't think that I have ridden Witches Wheel since the first time that I took Michael to CP and he almost threw up after riding it. I even got off feeling a bit queasy. While fun to ride as a teen, they are a lot more disorienting for the older crowd, so can't say that I'm all that sad to see it go. While it would be nice to see another decent flat, Tony does mention "future expansion" which sounds better than just replacing this ride with another similar one. Maybe more family-friendly rides to go along with Monster and Lake Erie Gliders? PS - Sure hope they get MF fixed soon, but unless it's the curse of the Intamin cable, I wouldn't be surprised if they have it it open within the next couple of days.
  9. Saw Ween in Cleveland last Tuesday and then again at Artpark outside of Niagara Falls on Saturday night...my liver still hurts, but both shows kicked total ass.
  10. Not the carousel ?? The horses all have names! (My pink lady was “princess”) Well now that I know this...of course I want to ride Princess!
  11. I need to get down to ride Fury 325, although a night solo ride must have been a very unique and (likely) once in a lifetime experience for most people!
  12. Have fun everyone...looking forward to the reports, as usual.
  13. Effin' love Sea World and need to try the add on's and Discovery Cove next time. I also love Brit's shirt! Can't wait for one of my favorite park updates...BGT!
  14. Agree wholeheartedly...I never laughed so hard on a ride in my life (sober anyway).
  15. Hi there Bill. Welcome to this new world filled with self-entitled people where they think the rules don't apply to them. I hope you enjoy you're stay here. Or at least as long as you can stand it before you want to kill yourself and/or everyone else... or maybe the other option is a move to Japan where they probably still have a few more years left before the entitlement plague infects them, too. Thanks for the needed laugh, Robb! I admit that I took my glasses off (I had a strap) before riding SV for the first time and put them in my zippered shorts pocket because I didn't want to risk losing them on the ride. I didn't know what to expect and didn't want to risk losing them, so I rode the coaster with fuzzy, watering eyes. I had my cell phone at the time (early May) and also tucked that away safely in my other zippered pocket making sure that it wouldn't come into hard contact with the restraint. Luckily I can opt to wear contacts the next time that I go. I don't like wearing them much anymore, but at least I would be able to see a bit better while on the coaster until they (hopefully) figure out a better way to control this loose article/cell phone issue. I can see this being a problem where people are going to hold the line up at the entrance while they complain about the rule. Like Robb said, the proper thing to do would be to go to Guest Services, but you know that there will be people that are going to stand there and complain and argue about how they HAVE to have their phone while in line. Whether it be a Mom/Dad, child/teen or a self-entitled person. And that is going to piss off the other people waiting to enter the queue to where I could see it getting ugly at times. I certainly would NOT want to be the employee/security guard that has to police this at the entrance, in line or at the gate...I already feel sorry for them TBH. Who would want to be the sucker that draws the short straw to enforce this policy at the ride entrance? They couldn't pay me enough to do THAT job.
  16. YEEEESSSS! This is the best news. Those floating fluffy bunnies are so great, make the day a lot more relaxing. Oh man, pop your stuff in there, get in the Fast Lane Plus line for about ten minutes, ride something awesome, move on to the next one. THAT's gonna be great. Yes, that is awesome that they are floating and you have your choice of where you lock your stuff up. Count me in as someone that will buy one of these and a FL+ and just enjoy the day, stress free. While it is annoying that it has come to this as the new norm, Idiocracy is taking a firm grasp on this country and there appears to be no stopping it. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it comes to wanding and metal detectors eventually. I feel that one freak Final Destination 3-ish type of accident caused by someone's loose article could make this a reality quicker than what we would like to comprehend. Some of you know that I foolishly bitched about this when they first started doing it at SFGAdv many years ago, as I just saw it as a money grab for the chain. But now, I fully understand why they do it and it's because of safety reasons because of stupid people breaking rules by trying to take pics and videos while on the ride (or sticking them in loose/open pockets). I can't believe that I used to be so naive that I thought that people actually followed all of the posted rules in the ride station...I'm embarrassed to reflect on this now and think: "How I could have been that stupid to think that all people actually followed park rules and guidelines?"
  17. Might Crash, Broken Rails! My Cat Barfed Rankness Missus, Continue Being Rude! 18. I would love to do a trip like this in September, but we are still deciding if we are going to hold Michael's memorial service in Massachusetts that weekend or the next, so I (like you, Bill) will wait to see if there is one next year. And if there is another Oktoberfest trip scheduled instead, I may jump on that one too! I just hope that everyone will actually behave themselves for WCB 2018 as I know that is why TPR doesn't do a lot of these events anymore. Be good people...and don't ruin it for others by going all Mr. Corn (IE: whining and complaining if things don't go as you had expected)!!
  19. I hope that those SFMM loaded nachos were better than they looked in the photo, Larry! Great report...just getting caught up on the past two parks. I'm curious to know if Ghostrider only runs one train at all times since the transformation? This seems crazy given that this isn't what I would consider a small-ish park like Lake Compounce or Waldameer. Or is one already being refurbished?
  20. what a lovely thing to do in his honor. so glad you went! When Beck came out and did his encore, tears were rolling down my face because I wanted Michael with me there so badly. People probably thought that I was crazy, but I didn't care at the time.
  21. Horrible news...how terribly sad for all involved. I remember doing one of these tours in Pittsburgh several years ago and mentioning to Michael that I felt a wee bit too close for comfort to the water when we went into the 3 rivers. While they told us to keep our hands arm inside the boat, you could have easily just reached out and dunked your hand in the water - I would say only 3-4" if I seem to recall correctly?
  22. I was going to mention that it would only be four close airtime hills, but then if you throw in the Brett Hull "No goal" game in the Sabres/Stars Stanley Cup Finals, then you would get five "close to airtime hills." Seriously, this is a great fit for this park and city. I'm on the "Despise the Steelers" bandwagon as well, but it will draw in TONS of fans not only from the city, but from around the country. I just wonder how long Jerruh Jones will take to want a Cowboys themed land at SFOT, or Robert Kraft wanting Tom Brady Land at SFNE? Okay, I think that I just threw up in my mouth a little...
  23. Michael had pre-purchased tickets months ago to see Beck at the Albright Knox art museum in Buffalo. Given that it was a sold out show and I found out that he paid an excruciatingly high price (found on his credit card statement after he passed), I knew that he would have still wanted me to go. So my friend Tim drove us out there on Monday night and despite the fact that we had a one hour rain/storm delay, the show went on and it was awesome! Even though Beck has been around forever, he brought his A-game and provided a really wonderful, high energy show! Highly recommend checking him out if you get the chance.
