The Eye - The plot is sort of interesting, and it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I wouldn't have paid to see this in a trillion years though.

That was one of my favorite movies from last year. I just wish the ending had been left open.

SPOILER...sorta/kinda...not really, but: Does anybody else (who has seen it) think that the ending made it seem like there will be sequels? There could be Cloverfield II, III, IV, V...oh, boy! -
^ Haha, we had some people complain about Across The Universe being a musical, but not Sweeney Todd. As far as I know, three people have thrown up watching Cloverfield so far. Whenver that happens, they just throw cat litter on it. Thankfully though, I'm usually not an usher, so I really don't have to worry about it.

^ I work for an AMC. Several people have thrown up at my theater as well while watching Cloverfield; there is now a sign up at box warning people about it. I saw it the other day, and I have mixed feelings about it. I'm going to save my opinions of it for the review I have to write for my school newspaper, but maybe I'll post that later when I'm done with it.

Sweeney Todd - It was fine. I couldn't stay awake the first 20 minutes of it, but then once I stayed awake I thought it was decent. It was more creative on Broadway though. The Orpahange - It was good. Fairly cliche' but it wasn't bad. I liked the ending. There are a few scary parts.

I have to write a review of it for my school paper and I get in for free anyway because I work for AMC, so I'm going to go to the midnight showing tonight. -
Brown hooded Hollister henley under a green hoodless Hollister henley, Abercrombie Kilburn Jeans, Brown American Eagle Shoes, Fossil watch, Hawaiian HIV awareness necklace, Blue pajana pants (underneath the jeans to stay warm and comfortable) I was wearing a green Hollister military jacket with all that when I was outside. Is that specific enough?

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly I loved it. It is about a magazine editor who suddenly experiences a stroke at the age of 42, who then is in a coma for about three weeks, who then wakes up completely paralyzed, except for his left eye. This state is known as locked-in syndrome, and is extremely rare. As doctors, his physical therapist, and most important for the plot's sake, his speech therapist, begin to work with him, he is taught a way to communicate. A special alphabet with letters in order of how often they are used is...presented to him. The way it works is his speech therapist recites this alphabet and he blinks when she says his letter. It is a slow process at first, but he then begins communicating well with it and eventually publishes a book written by him while in this state. I think locked-in syndrome is fascinating and that the movie itself is very good. Look for it in art house/indie theaters. It is probably gone by now though, as my indie theater takes a while to get movies in after they are released. As I reread this, I realized the plot sounds boring, but it is really very good. He goes through flashbacks and thinks about how he could have treated people better. Also, the camera work is very good, a lot of it being in first person, your view being his view out of his left eye. No Country for Old Men I liked this too, but not as much. It is a great movie and probably deserving of all the praise it gets. It is more popular, so I won't dwell on the plot, but I do reccommend it. The girl I saw it with didn't like the style of it or the plot, but it is great if you are in the mood for the type of movie it is...which I say is a thinking man's suspense/action movie, I guess. I liked the long pauses in the important moments. The directors used and placed the silences well. Juno I loved it. I love the director, because of his past work with Thank You For Smoking and he did just as good of a job with this. Great performences are given by all. At one point the movie goes into a sense of dread and I had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen, but still it hits you hard. Also, I stayed home all day working on some things, but in between I managed to watch a couple of old movies... Sunset Boulevard I've always known of this movie, but had never seen it. I thought it was great, had an interesting plot, and deserving of it's fame. Rope This is a short (80 minutes) Hitchcock movie from 1948. It has James Stewart in it, whom I am a fan of. It all takes place in the same New York apartment. Two boys commit what they see as the perfect murder, which includes stashing the body in the apartment and then inviting people over for a small party. An old teacher they once had whom is at the party, who they got the idea from originally, becomes suspicious while there. The final 15 minutes are great. I'd say its better than Hitchcock movies like Vertigo, I Confess, Stage Fright, etc, but not on the same level as Psycho.

I've played just a little bit of Super Mario Galaxy, but I am really getting into Zelda now. I have Resident Evil : The Umbrella Chronicles, but I'm not sure if I want to keep it, or exchange it for a different game. Opinions? -
Smoking R-rated in Films?
SonOfBeastSucks replied to masterofthematrix91's topic in Random, Random, Random
^When Spaceballs was released, I don't think they had the PG-13 rating yet. If it had been released later, it may have gotten a PG-13 rating. It has been a few years since I have seen it, but it is far from an R rating. -

I've read three books lately. I had to read The Devil in the White City for school, which I hated. I also had to read Reading Lollita in Tehran for the same class, which I liked. I finished Snow Falling on Cedars yesterday...and I loved it. It has actual meaning and has the possibility of...changing you.

I work at an AMC movie theater. I don't have any specific duties...I just do everything.

I am environmentally conscious, but I don't see real Christmas trees as a problem. Typically these trees are sold from special lots where they are grown specifically to be used as Christmas trees. Its not as they go out into the forest and cut those trees down.

What do you want to do when you grow up?
SonOfBeastSucks replied to GAcoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
I want to be a writer, probably a journalist. I've discovered through taking journalism classes at my school, that when I actually have an interesting topic designated or can write about anything I want, that it just comes naturally. At the moment I want to study journalism with geography as a minor. I don't want to write about unimportant things, I want to make a difference. I would like to write a book and have it published, but I'm going to take that more as something I will try to do in my free time, not something I would rely on for a career necessarily. Recent events that have happened with a friend, my best friend, have opened my eyes to how big of a problem HIV/AIDS is not only internationally, but also domestically. He died in September at the age of 17 from a car accident. It's a long story. Anyway, I want some of my writing to shine a light on this problem (AIDS) and I want to dump money into research to find a cure. -
