Like, I'm not one to get all stupid and sentimental over a large block of steel with cars that whiz around it. But I really can't stand Harry Potter and Dragons wasn't just still a good ride, it's still a GREAT ride. It's not like Texas Giant or Mean Streak where those rides NEEDED replacing, I just rode it two nights ago and even with it not dueling that ride is still one of the top inverted coasters in the world! But I get it. They have proven lately that they really can only sell their park based on Harry Potter and they need a new ride and removing Dragons gives them a lot of room. It's just a shame they can't figure out how to get people to ride their really kick-ass coaster that was one of the world's most unique attractions when it opened and it still impresses 18 years later. When was the last time we saw a ride of that great caliber removed?

It's funny you mention that as we were just talking recently how Screamscape seems to come up less and less in conversation lately. Not sure if it's just that not as much is happening industry wide right now, or that so much of it gets posted to social media before you see it on that site. Either way, RMC in Japan would kick ass!

To be fair I basically just stole that quote from Kinky Boots and changed it up a bit, so I can't take full credit for it!

I'm pretty sure this parade unit... Is still around and every once in awhile it makes an appearance somewhere!

If you're going to fly to Japan I would really hope that Fuji-Q would be towards the BOTTOM of your priority list!

Right. But... there are a lot of people, including ourselves who are making a special trip JUST for Lightning Rod. In the case of our visit next week, A SECOND TRIP. I'll be honest, we would not have made a stop at Dollywood this year had we missed out on Lightning Rod last year. And we would not have made the stop this year if we had thought they would have been having just as many problems in their 2nd season. If we miss out on it again this year, I'm not going to continue making excuses for the park. It's a great park, sure... but sometimes you aren't there for the "great line-up of older rides."

Huh. I hope they didn't change it because it was the most intense launch in the world. It literally felt like you were getting hit in the back with a giant Mack Truck coming at full speed. What you described sounds kind of boring, TBH compared to what I've experienced. Dodonpa's launch is like sex...it's not supposed to be "comfortable."

I'm not sure what you mean by this. I haven't been on the ride in probably 2-3 years as a rule of thumb I have generally refused to ride any coaster that have the lockers/metal detectors and tonight I was reminded again why I don't like putting up with the annoyance. That being said, it still ran amazing. Maybe I had just forgotten how good the ride is.

So I just took a night ride in the back seat on Ice Dragon. Here's some thoughts... - it runs just as good as it did in 1999. - it still kicks serious ass and is easily one of the top five inverts in the world, no question. And I've been on pretty much all of them! lol - If Universal trashes it they are stupid. - This crap right here... ...is bullshit. When people ask me "why don't you go to Universal as much anymore" I can show them this picture. That is all.

I'll be honest, this kind of person is EXACTLY why we have steered TPR away from focusing on your die-hard roller coaster and Disney fan to more of the "casual" theme park fan. What I have found over the years is that, while I can talk the coaster nerd talk like the rest of them, I'd much rather be in the group that talks more in general about theme park things while having a good beer and not geeking out on the crazy details, and then having the conversation steer towards something completely different, because I'm somewhat of a normal human that doesn't live or breath ONLY roller coaster or Disney factoids. Sorry we missed you guys! June - August is crazy for us!
