Ok. I've walked through this park as an average guest quite a bit. I clearly recognize these views: Sure, you can argue that some of these photos are being snapped in the direction of the construction. But these photos cover a LOT of ground. I know you're just standing up for a park that you really love, that you used to work at, but hey, I used to work at the Disneyland Resort too, for nearly 5 years, and I'm probably just as excited about these new additions as you are, but I worked at Cafe Orleans when Fantasmic was being installed, the river was drained and the Mark Twain was ripped apart and THAT looked like crap. This looks even worse. I'm just not sure how you can honestly say that this construction is "hardly noticeable" unless you just didn't want to notice it. --Robb "Admission is the first step to recovery!" Alvey

Dane, while I respect what you have to say, I couldn't disagree with you more. The park looks terrible. I would wager money on that most people walking into the park who *ARE NOT* pass holders or ex-empoyees would also agree. I never said there wasn't a way they could cover up this huge construction project. I never said that I wasn't happy that Disney is going forward with this project. And I agree with you that World of Color and the surrounding area upgrades should prove to be AMAZING additions to DCA. I am simply saying, once again, the park looks terrible. And I realize it's unavoidable. Still, the park looks terrible. I'm sick of repeating myself here. I will say this loud and clear so it doesn't come up again... ^ When I look at these pictures... ...to me that would be like walking out of Future World into World Showcase and seeing the entire lagoon drained, a bunch of tractors and construction vehicles in there and a bunch of the countries with scaffolding all over them! I know it's hard to compare the two, but in my mind that's what I see. Now keep in mind, just so you Disneyland locals and die-hards know, I'm not arguing that they shouldn't be doing any of this because by god DCA *NEEDS* it, and I absolutely know they can't close down the park because the economy doens't warrant it, I'm just simply saying the park looks like crap right now. I think I'm just looking at this from a different perspective. Keep mind that many of you responding are passholders and locals that go all the time. So it's not a big deal if something is under construction or closed. For me, I visit the Disneyland Resort once a year, *maybe* twice. And to me, I would feel walking into a park that looked like the pictures I see is not what I'm used to as a "Disney Consumer." --Robb

Like I said, I was expressing this purely from a "show" persepctive which seems to have been lost. Again, and I will repeat myself since I'm assuming you didn't get to see the earlier post I made. The whole of Disneyland didn't look ANYTHING like what the whole of DCA looks like now during the Tomorrowland rehab. The Tomorrowland project actually shut down very few of the rides and closed off a small part of the park. The DCA re-do seems to have affected large sections of the park and by the looks of it nearly 50% of it has some kind of construction going on somewhere. That tunnel and the walls associated with it in Tomorrowland you speak of is a very small part of Disneyland. Whereas the Sun Wheel, the lake and all the surrounding areas make up a HUGE section of DCA. The construction is visible from many areas of the park. Even when they drain the Rivers of America to work on Fantasmic it didn't look this bad. --Robb

I have just recieved another Fireball update from Martin & Vleminckx. It's look like the ride is getting close to being complete! And it's looking GREAT! Here are some new photos... And say hello to the crew that has brought you Fireball all very happy after they received the approval from the Government of China Inspectors for the first Wood Coaster in their Country! Congrats guys! I believe this section is about all that's remaining of the structure to be constructed. There we go! That's better! If only that S&S tower wasn't blocking the view! The cruise ship offers other excursions, sometimes exclusive to the cruise shops, for the ports that we are going to be docking in. A note to those who are looking into coming from outside of Spain (Matteo and Tom) - please keep in mind that this will be a much more "brief" visit to PortAventure and Tibidabo for us and it's not going to be like a "TPR Trip" park day at all. Remember this will be at the end of a two week cruise for us, so we'll be pretty wiped out! It's very possible that we may only spend a couple of hours at each park and then head back to our hotel or do other things with family. We just want to be able to meet up with some TPR Spanish locals who don't have to go too far our of their way. I don't want anyone to be dissapointed that they've come all the way from the UK or Italy to meet up with us only to find out we're actually not staying for very long. --Robb

I agree that they'll need to keep it open to cover costs, but it really shouldn't be looking the way it does now. But you could easily use a park like Lotte World as an example where they closed the entire park down for over 6 months to make changes and improvements to the inside area. They didn't even touch the outside park I don't think and they could have kept that open, but they chose to bring the park down to make it better instead of offering 1/2 of a park or a park under construction. Even Cypress Gardens is currently closed to make their modifications! They could have stayed opened with some of the gardens accessible or the flying island open. --Robb

Were you there for those rehabs? I was. The whole of Disneyland didn't look ANYTHING like what the whole of DCA looks like now. Seriously is the only areas not affected by this right now are the Hollywood Backlot section and Flick's Fair? Even the Harry Potter construction doesn't look as massive as this. Seriously the park looks like it's totally under construction. And from a "show" perspective, IMO, it just looks terrible. --Robb

It's not *just* the old owners under a new name. It's 5 people. 3 of them are new, 2 of them are the old owners. --Robb

The Halloween events usually start the last weekend of September or the first weekend of October. I would reccomend Halloween Horror Nights as the "MUST SEE" Halloween Event in So Cal and then Knott's Haunt 2nd. Actually, I would hit Haunt first so that it won't seem like a total let down after HHN! As for the burgers I'm not a big fan of either In N' Out or Tommy's. I personally think In N Out is one of the most overrated hamburgers ever and the only reason I think people find it special is because it only exists in a small area. IMO, if this burger was nationwide it would be about as popular as Burger King in the "No Big Deal" department. As a Californian, I don't mind going there when someone is in town and wants to try it, but you don't find me going there on my own. I don't hate the place, but I just don't think it's all it's cracked up to be. There is an In N' Out just a couple exists south of Six Flags Magic Mountain so you can try it out there. --Robb
