Photo TR: Dan Smith's WDW Birthday Bash Stunt Spectacular
robbalvey replied to dandaman's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
The Crawford building was designed to look like a shuttle on the launch pad, and I guess with all the aspiring technicians running around campus the image is pretty believable. I dunno man, I'm just not seeing it. It kind of looks more like the Holiday Inn at Downtown Disney: -

Six Flags May Not Survive 2009...

The Six Flags bit was funny, but the Sbarro part was better! -
Will there ever be an official "Meet Up" thread?

One of the projects further down the road for TPR (in the coming months) will include a re-vamp of the member profile page and that will include the ability to have photo galleries, post comments to friends, and a social calendar. Much like a "MySpace Lite" kind of thing. But we need to get CoasterTube and a new version of the park index done first! Not to mention the 2009 trips, Roller Coasters in the Raw 3 and Coaster Expedition Volumes 12 & 13! That's a lot to do right now! --Robb -

This is exactly the same reason why I love TDL! I honestly am not a big fan of either MK or DL for various reasons. Both have equal pros and cons, IMO, but TDL is the "Magic Kingdom" that gets it all right! Even though we live 65 miles away from Disneyland, we have not had passes there since 2002. And not renewing our Disneyland Premium Pass for the past 7 years has given us about $5446 that we've put towards more trips to Tokyo Disneyland! Money well spent! --Robb

^ It's actually very good timing to ask! I have now captured most of the footage for the woodies disc and I'm about to start on the Steelies. At some point very soon I'll have a list of all the coasters that will be on this DVD and will put out a request for more footage. This will probably happe in the next week or so. As of right now the woodies disc has some great stuff on it! Southport Cyclone, Megazeph, Myrtle Beach Hurricane, Runaway Coaster, Psyclone, Flyer Comet, Villain, Texas Cyclone, King Solomon's Mines, Sierra Tonante, Hercules, and quite a few "surprises!" More to come soon! --Robb

Every once in a while I run across a little gem that is like a blast right back into the past...today I found something I must share with you all... It is the "Amusement Park Drive-In!" Yes, that is correct. Located in Laurel, Montana! Have a look: http://www.amusementparkdriveinonline.com/ Here are some of the main features... "Sugar Shack" concession stand 82' Screen that shows movies on BOTH SIDES!!! Caboose that holds one projector. The main entrance! Rides!!! MORE RIDES!!! *BIG* RIDES!!! And apparently in 2009 they are getting TWO new credits! (That's more than any Six Flags park!) http://www.rcdb.com/pd1133.htm But most importantly! CLEAN Bathrooms! But not just clean bathrooms... Clean bathrooms WITH SOAP! And every Thursday a carload of TPR members can go for just $10! So someone on TPR *must* go here and make a trip report! And be sure to include the rides, the caboose, the movies, and MOST IMPORTANTLY the clean bathrooms! Seriously, this place actually looks totally awesome! --Robb

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
According to this article SFMM is getting another coaster in 2010. Of course it could be a kiddie coaster. http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/index.php/six-flags-qatar-3468/#more-3468 Please! This is the "Terminator Discussion Thread" not the "I wonder what they are going to get for 2010 Thread." Please keep your discussions here focused on Terminator otherwise please post in the SFMM Updates Thread. Thank you! --Robb -
And to that extent, I posted about why I don't think that is as big deal as it is being made out to be. Joey, I feel the difference between what you are saying and what others are saying is that your comments are subjective while others, including my own, are more objective. "The park looks bad in it's current state." That's being objective. I'm not really basing it on my own personal opinion. It factually doesn't look like it's supposed to. It's not in the same state as the park that is being advertised. And that is totally NOT subjective. (Ok so maybe the word "bad" is slightly more subjective, but replace "bad" with "inaccurate" or "erroneous" and there you go. But if the general consensus is that the park looks "good" in it's normal state, then it would technically look "bad" in it's erroneous state.) "I don't think that is as big deal as it is being made out to be." That's being subjective. And I don't think most people, including myself, think it's a big deal either. But some people, including yourself, are creating a bigger deal out of it than I originally intended. --Robb

I was pretty much just joking at that point! You should know this by now...set the stage...Alvey's apartment... We're talking back and forth about how bad the park looks...there's a shot of Gregg's photo on one screen of a dried lake, scaffolding, and tractors... Pan over to the other screen and you see the TV commercial "Come visit BEAUTIFUL California Adventure!!!" Pan back to dried up lake and tractors. LAUGH OUT LOUD! Take picture. Post picture. /end story.

Joey, do you even know what you're arguing anymore? I simply said the park looks bad. That's it. That's all that was initially said. You're the one bringing up the guest experience and GR complaints and whether or not the guests will still enjoy the characters because of the construction walls and how everyone's perception of "show" is different and the overall philosophy of whether or not DCA was a good value to begin with, etc, etc. You've added all these additional "layers" of subjective criticism on top of my original comment. Why? I don't know. To prove some alternative point or try to convince people that construction walls and tractors sitting in a dried up lake are a GOOD thing to see when you go to a park? I don't get it. You even said yourself it looks like a construction site, and that's all I was saying. So what are you debating? The discussion is so convoluted that I'm not even sure at this point! Again, all I said is the park looks looks bad in it's current condition. That was the ONLY point I made. You can argue all these other layers all you want, but I really feel my comment still stands.... "The park looks bad" --Robb
