Mitch Hawker's Coaster Poll 2009!

Because wooden trationalists are fanatical and insane? Why can't some people just go on roller coasters, and enjoy them, and not get so bent out of shape over them? --Robb -

Your reponse is really out of line. Elissa did not "rate, judge, or rank" the coaster in any way. Her comments are based on looking at the 15 year chart and seeing where other GCI's have started and slid. But it really seems like you're jumping down her throat and taking her comments very personally. You are making accusations and putting words into her mouth. It's really not cool and VERY rude. I actually think you owe her an apology for that post, because if you look at past history...she's probably right. --Robb "Have a little more respect for the hard working people who put this site together for you." ^ I will say right now that doing a printed publication is not something we are interested in doing. But creating some kind of newsletter, perhaps in an electronic form either online or a CD that would "recap" the best, recent news, trip reports, features, articles, etc, is something we WOULD consider publishing on a regular basis. It might be the happy compromise. I will continue to research because if our members want something, we will do the best we can to offer what they are requesting. --Robb

It's not like we just thought this up yesterday and put together a post this morning. This has been something we have been thinking about and planning for OVER A YEAR now. I just want to go on record to say I'm a little disappointed that anyone would think we would let TPR become "ACE" or anything like that. We absoultely would NOT allow our Premium Members to become a clique or a seperate class or anything of that sort. If we had called this "Club TPR" instead of a "Premium Member" would that have changed some people's minds? Maybe it's our terminology? Just curious. The fact that we actually had the thought to put up a poll and solicit feedback from our members is already a huge step beyond what other organizations would do. Give us a little credit that if we were to do this, we would do it "right." --Robb "Did we really deserve the rolling eyes???" Alvey

Just curious if people have this week (between christmas and new years) off work or if you're working right now?

I've updated the first post in this thread. See if that helps explain things a bit more. And to address the issue of more premium members than spots on a trip, I've added the part in bold: Priority Placement on TPR Trips - This means that if we have a trip that has sold out and you are on a wait list, someone who is a premium member will have priority over someone that is not a premium member. Same thing also goes for during sign ups, if we have 50 spots on a trip, and 55 people signed up, if there is room available, the Premium Members will get a spot on a TPR trip over someone who is not a Premium Member. Please note that this is not a GUARENTEED placement on a trip, but you would be given "priority." If it ends up being that we have more premium members signed up for a trip than we have spots on a trip, well, that's a GREAT problem for us to have! I would **LOVE** to be in the position where we'd have to find a solution for this, and please trust us, we would find a solution that would be fair and make both premium members and non-premium members very happy!

Um...where did it say you wouldn't be able to get into events without getting this membership? We would offer certain trips and events just for Premium Members, but we will still offer quite a few events for non-Premium Members as well, just like we always have. I really think that many of you are not READING the thread before you are posting. TPR as you love it now, WILL NOT BE CHANGING!!! There won't be any changes for non-premium members. --Robb

Question for some of you that want a "monthly newsletter" from TPR - At the moment we give you a "daily newsletter." What would be the benefit of re-hashing everything you read on the forum and putting it into another (more expensive to produce) format and then distributing it? Not saying it's not a good idea, I'm just wondering what the benefit it? If we did a montly newsletter: - The news would be old - The content would be repeated - A printed publication would be expensive to produce But if that is something that you all would WANT, we could start looking into it. --Robb
