Where was that restaurant with the weird leg washrooms? And was it worth eating at? Hitting in Bei-Jing soon and trying to plan "interesting" experiences -
BEST DISNEY RIDE- nominations
denning replied to vertgforces's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's tough but I am torn between the two greatest ever Disney "attractions" The Liki Ticki's? or the UFO zone? I am so torn. Maybe someone can help decide. Both marvels that no other themepark chain could ever out imagineer -
You should have used foresight and parked right at the exit, then you avoided almost all of the traffic. I stayed till the end of the fireworks and was out of the park by 10:45. On a side note Behemoth was the shortest line of any of the coaster due to its amazing operations, 3 trains plus B&M design means a wait of about an hour even on the busiest days. Our Boomerang had a longer line!

Most Overrated coaster?
denning replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Anything at Canada's Wonderland until this year. At any park in the world, you will never see a longer line for Vekoma clone bommerangs or SLCs. And there "first flying coaster in Canada" is carnival Volore that makes even the most painful Togo (cough Manhatten Express cough) seem B&M smooth. I loved Behemoth but could not help after all these years thinking that we don't deserve it for being such sheep. -

Lick's will not cook their burgers anything less than well-done, it is a Toronto by-law that unless the meat is ground on premises they cannot cook it medium, medium rare or rare. Lick's burgers are frozen, in fact they sell them for home use. Once you have a nice medium rare burger with some pink the middle you can never go back. Go to any burger restaurant in NYC, they are amazing. Lick's burgers are overcooked and therefore ruined. Once upon a time they were great. There is a long thread on chowhound discussing this very topic. Rumor is there is a restaurant in the Danforth which will cook a burger properly. However, we are going off-topic. Long story short, I would certainly never recommend anyone order a burger at Canada's Wonderland, Behometh or otherwise. Now the Cookie Icecream sandwhiches by Vortex, those are a must-have! -

I would do anything for a burger in Toronto that wasn't burned to a crisp. They are hockey pucks. Anyone visiting from a country which allows you order your food the way you like it, stay far far away from Toronto burgers. -
I had a classic media day t-shirt from the opening of splash moutain at WDW. It was pretty cute on the front, on the back it said "H2O plus 45° Angle plus Gravity plus 40 m.p.h. plus a 5-story plunge plus some unsuspecting, helpless, " too late to get out now" passengers, equals...... Splash Mountain!'" It has faded and been worked in nicely.

Photo TR: Kings Dominion Dominator Media Day

At GL is was buildt over the water, also the entrace was great in that walked under the Cobra roll. I remember walking along the bridge thinking about how pretty Dominator and Thunderhawk were on the water. It may have a better life but it will not be better landscaped. -
As opposed to our complaints in the other thread http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43676&start=0 Let's discuss things that we like that parks do and hope that other parks will adopt. 1. Re-rides without having to exit and walk around - when no one else is in line I like it when parks allow the riders to take an empty seat. I know Darien Lake allows the practice and it makes for an enjoyable day when empty. Making people exit and walk around assists no one, why should a ride ever dispatch with an empty seat if someone is willing to ride. 2. Check your own restraints - I love how the rides at Disney have straps on them. Allowing the operators to quickly dispatch trains by asking people to raise their arms and pull on their straps to ensure they are locked in. This saves tons of time and makes for fast dispatchs on rock n roller coaster, everest and test track. 3. Q-Bot's this has been discussed at length in other threads, but I can't state enough how great they are. They make even the busiest days enjoyable.

Great Adventure or Cedar point

When we went back in '05, I took some pictures of the waiting area. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=39594&highlight=#39594 -
Better yet in your offical capacity talking with different parks marketing teams about events, can you promote the benefits of qbots. Since Dollywood has it, that means Six Flags does not own the exclusive technolgy. If only you can convince Cedar Fair to incorporate it. It's an extra revenue stream that would just be silly to ignore.

Great Adventure or Cedar point
denning replied to Sephiroth77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like Great Adventure more for exactly the same reason. When you drive almost 10 hours for a park, spend hundreds on a hotel room and only get to go once every several years, there is nothing worse than spending your whole day in line. I agree that Top Thrill may be better than Ka, but I have ridden Top Thrill once and Ka 15 times. And waited longer in line for Top Thrill then all the Ka rides combined. I wish that every park had a gold qbot. Best money I ever spent. -
No strike at La Ronde this year
denning replied to Absimilliard's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Really? Where did you get that idea from? I've read nothing but scorn about La Ronde, and how it's operations are amongst the worst in the Six Flags chain. Because the scary thing is that before six flags got invovled it was far far worse. Leave it to the Quebecois to ruin even a themepark with a perfect location. -

Nitro used to have some weird seatbelt type device seen in this picture http://www.coastergallery.com/1999/GA67.html According to wikipedia, "Nitro previously had a backup safety restraint, which featured a black knob that extended out of the seat. The lap bar latched onto the knob to serve as a safety feature without the need for a safety belt. These were later removed because they were deemed unnecessary, as they easily disconnected and greatly interfered with loading times." Hopefully that experiment will save Behemoth but you never know. -

I think everyone missed the joke about seatbelts on park benches, CedarFair likes to neuter their rides with seatbelts. It is a valid fear that Behemoth altough exempt now will be ruined later. Looking at the trim brakes, I am almost certain there will be a time when they are all used and the ride will be viewed as being a shadow of its former self. Until then ride it and enjoy will it lasts. -

The line at the end of the night was estimated to be 3hr30min - 4hrs...we got in the line just before they closed the line off...we ended up getting on in 2hr 10min...they ran all 3 trains very well and I think that helped as well...we got on so quick in fact that were were off the ride by 9:40 and the line was still open still open so we ran back in for a thrid ride, which ended up being the last train of the night. It was a great way to end the night, pulling back into the station our train tried the "One More Time" chant...didn't work but it was a good effort. That's really funny, we were on the last train and my wife actually started that chant. It actually works at CP on Maverick. The 3 hour line thing was a joke, and I felt bad for everyone who was turned away, they have just authorized the overtime and kept the ride open as long as it took, a lot of people went home upset. -

I was talking to one of the supervisors, we were on the last train of the night. The back seats were disabled since one of them would not close and it was causing issues with the computer system, so they had to shut it down for all three trains. Delays were caused they kept trying different policies, re: public with shoes, how to handle large guests who did not fit the restraints, etc, etc. This is the first wonderland ride with three train operation and the first to have any reason for the ops to try and not stack. By the end of the night they had gotten so efficient that they were able to reopen the line that had previoulsy been closed due to fear of lenght. -
