I was at the park yesterday and Cheetah Hunt was running on time for the morning passholder ERT as well. Only got one ride in though as for some reason even though they had 4 trains on the track, they were really slow dispatching them. 2 trains would be on the loading platform and the other 2 would be waiting to unload. Made me wonder if they brought over Gwazi's load ops. By the time my ride was done, the line was only about 30 minutes, but I was only staying at the park until around noon as I had to go to Orlando for the rest of the day), so I went to explore the rest of the park. Hit both sides of Gwazi with no wait. After I rode Lion, next train out got stuck at the top of the lift hill! I was ALMOST on that train too, but decided to sit one row further back than the line I was in instead. Good thing. Rode Sheikra with no wait. The first drop still freaks me out (my fear of heights & looking straight down into open spaces), but after it's past I'm good & love the rest of it. Skyride on the Stanleyville side was a walk-on, but over by Cheetah Hunt the line was pretty long. At the 11:30am cheetah presentation at Cheetah Run, they brought out Kasi and Mtani. Kasi is so stinkin' cute I can't stand it. He's getting so big! Ain't I the cutest thing??? BONUS PHOTO! I saw this car on International Drive in Orlando yesterday. I've dubbed it the "Jesus Mobile".

Awesome TR! This park is near the top of my list of places I want to visit (just below Tokyo Disney, Paris & London). It looks like a seriously amazing park. And the fact they call Colorado Adventure "The Michael Jackson Thrill Ride" is freaking hilarious! And I REALLY want to ride Winjas. It looks freaking awesome. -
Fort Myers man logs 500th roller coaster ride

It goes without saying, anything derogatory about coaster enthusiasts applies only to males. I wonder what percentage of enthusiasts are girls, I'd say 5%, maybe less. I can't say I've come across a single female enthusuiast who was at all objectional, and I think it's quite brave for girls to step into such a male dominated area of interest. I found out well before I had anything to do with TPR that even saying you've even ridden some coasters will bring you derision from non-coaster enthusiast females, I mean positive scorn. Luckily I have other interests than coasters, so I don't have any need to talk about coasters. Hmmm... guess you have a point there. But I am a girl (at least last time I checked... *checks again* Yup... I'm a girl) and I have several friends who are girls who love roller coasters and a few are even nerdy about them like I am (though not crazy enough to get up before sunrise to be at Busch Gardens for the passholder ERT on Cheetah Hunt). I've always been borderline girly-girl and tomboy. I love makeup and fashion and stuff... yet I also love sports, roller coasters... But even my female friends who don't do coasters admire my enthusiasm and have told me as much (though deep down they probably think I a total loonybird for riding these things). -
I've only done Hulk in the front row (I can only do front row on pretty much any coaster... if I sit anywhere else on I'll get a migraine like no one's business, though I can do 2nd row on Gwazi ok for now) and it's been fine in the front for me. When are you going to be at Busch Gardens? I'll be there on Saturday for the morning, then I have to go to Orlando for the rest of the day.

Erik & Smisty's Florida Oddventures
aimster replied to Electerik's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I screamed like a little girl. I HATE spiders. Even when I know they're not real. And I saw all of Forbidden Journey with the lights on the first time through because it broke down just as the ride started for me and they ended up cycling everyone through in "default mode". Even with the lights on I cringed when I saw Aragog. BLEGH!!! -

i 100% agree with this post, as a severe Aracnaphobe, that is the room from hell, im baffled as to why they have spiders just freely wandering about! Seconded! I am terrified of spiders and scream like a little girl even if I see a tiny one. Actually, I'm like that with ALL bugs. DO NOT LIKE! One time a big-ass wood spider somehow got in my apartment and I saw it heading straight for my cat. I jumped up, practically thew the cat out of the way, sprayed the spider to death then repeatedly beat it with a shoe to make sure, then sucked it up with the vacuum. Ugh just remembering that totally skeeved me out! -
DisneyParks Price Hikes
aimster replied to Top Thrill Dragster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looks like I'm going to have to start selling body parts soon if I want to visit WDW. That just gave me even more incentive to renew my Busch Gardens 2 year AP when the time comes. 2 years for less than half the price of a one year AP for Disney. -

Best Theme Park Food
aimster replied to ChrisZer0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've had some really good meals at WDW. Loved the lunch I had at the France pavilion at EPCOT maybe 5 years ago. And I loved the wet burritos from the Cantina at the Mexico pavilion (before the place was renovated). Had the biggest ham sandwich of my life at 50's Prime Time at the Studios park. Sadly, they changed the turkey sandwich with chipotle mayo at Sunshine Seasons at The Land and it's not as good as it used to be. Luckily Panera makes a sandwich that's similar to how it used to be, so I just have that whenever I get a craving for one. The food at Busch Gardens Tampa is pretty good. I really like the spaghetti & meatballs at Desert Grill. And I normally don't care for alfredo sauce, but I enjoy the chicken alfredo there too. Sometime I want to try the fried chicken. The BBQ at Zambia Smokehouse is pretty good for a theme park, plus it's one of the very few theme park restaurants that I've seen serve bread pudding (and it's pretty good too). I plan on trying the Crown Colony sit-down restaurant at some point this year. Last summer I had lunch at Confisco Grille at Islands of Adventure. I wanted something inexpensive and light, so I tried the soup & sandwich combo. OMG their potato leek soup was amazing! I could have eaten more than just a cup of it. The turkey sandwich was pretty tasty too. Sometime I want to try Mythos as I've heard nothing but rave reviews. And I'll probably be in the minority here, but I really like the burgers at Mel's Drive-In at Universal Orlando. -
Went to the park this morning for the passholder ERT on Cheetah Hunt before the park opened. And guess what... once again Cheetah Hunt was delayed. They had Montu running for those who wanted to go ride that instead. But this time they lead everyone inside the queue of Cheetah Hunt to wait it out, which was much nicer than last week when we had to sit in the blazing sun. Just before 9:00 they had it up and running with 4 trains on the track. I only got one ride in (after that it was a 3 hour wait since the park was open to regular guests), but yeah, still lots of fun. The free gift everyone got for the passholder event was a nice reusable Cheetah Hunt tote bag.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Cheetah Hunt this morning at Busch Gardens. -
I'm surprised I waited that long too. I normally have the patience of a gnat, but I have a strong will if I want something bad enough. I held up WAY better than I expected to as usually after a couple hours straight in the sun like that I'd be getting sick. I did start getting a headache after awhile, but the free water they handed out a couple times helped. I really just wanted to go over to the water cart and dunk my head in the ice though.

They've added a LOT since Cedar Fair took over the park. Until the 90's, the only coaster there was the Corkscrew. The park has probably doubled in size (at least) since it was originally known as Deer Park Funland from the 1956 until 1988. I grew up about a half hour from the park, so we went there (and Cedar Point) quite a bit when I was a kid. Sadly I haven't been to the park since the mid 90's, but I remember even back in the 80's it was usually quite busy in the summer.

TPR's Front Page - What do you like/dislike?
aimster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Do you think it even needs updating at all? Not really. It looks good the way it is. Easy to navigate and inviting. 2. What elements of the front page do you really LIKE, and would hate to see go away and/or change. I like the whole thing in general. Everything is easy to find, lots of content and it looks good. 3. What elements do you feel are MISSING from the front page? Needs more Prince Desmond. 4. What other changes would you suggest? None that I can think of. -

Ghost Town In The Sky Discussion Thread
aimster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember back in the 80's begging my dad for us to go to Ghost Town in the Sky whenever we visited the Smoky Mountains. We always went in early April(spring vacation from school) before Silver Dollar City/Dollywood opened for the season (most of the good tourist stuff usually opened a week or 2 after we left). One of my old boyfriends went there once in the 90's and he showed me some photos from there. -
^ I think eventually they will add Cheetah Hunt to Quick Queue and Quick Queue Unlimited. Just right now since the ride is brand new, they want to give everyone the same opportunity to ride and now have people bitching about people "cutting" ahead in line because of Quick Queue. I'll bet either later this summer or in the fall they'll add it.
