  1. Thanks for the advise. We've decided to book rooms on the fly this trip. Only concern left is about park tickets. Hope I won't have any trouble getting last minute tickets printed at the hotel.
  2. Thanks for the reply. I have a few questions if you don't mind. Why do you recommend choice? Have you ever had trouble finding a hotel this way? You say the pros outweigh the cons. What cons have you experienced?
  3. Honestly, I wouldn't touch Cedar Point on a Saturday without a FL+. And I get in for free*. If you don't want to shell out for fast passes just skip it. * with season pass
  4. I'm planning an east coast road trip and need some advise. For most of my trips I have everything planned and booked weeks if not months out. With the shear amount of parks/activities I'm considering for this one, I'm wondering if I should instead book hotels day of. This would allow some flexibility to change plans on the fly based on weather or how much we are enjoying the park we are at that day. Does anyone have experience doing trips this way? How did It work for you? Any sites or apps that you would recommend?
  5. Thought I should update this thread in case anyone else has the same question. We ended up going through a company called The Villa People. Everyone was happy with the home we rented and we would definitely consider them again if we ever decide to do a another group trip to Orlando.
  6. Thanks for the info. My friend is close to that size, just slightly taller. Sounds like he has a better shot than I thought.
  7. I'm looking for advice from some of our larger members. One of my friends wants to hit Cedar Point next week but he is on the larger side. I know Millennium and Dragster are out of the question but any advice on what he might fit on? He managed to fit on everything at Universal last week if that helps.
  8. I will be in Orlando around the same time, May 1st thru the 11th. Always great to meet fellow enthusiasts.
  9. My friends and I are looking into renting a condo this spring for an Orlando trip. I was wondering if any of the well traveled members of this site have any experience with this? Any advise/tips for a first timer? Things to consider vs. a hotel?
  10. Just got my time off request approved. Looking forward to another Bash. It's been too long.
  11. I got the same hotel and price bidding on Priceline. Less than 3 weeks to go!
  12. This is exactly what I'm doing. I did HWN last year so this year I'm doing Coastermania. Next year I'll go back to HWN and hopefully get to try out the timberliners they teased us with last year.
  13. Portal 2 will keep you up for days. Juste beat Portal 2, total mind-f. The ending is crazier, the writing is perfect, the puzzles go beyond test chambers, and it's perfect. It's better than the first one, and that one was one of my favorite games of all time. I'm going to play through again tonight with developer commentary. Has anyone tried the co-op yet? The single player story arch is some of the best I've ever played. Can't wait to see what new experiences co-op brings to the table. Also, be prepared to play multiple levels with no commentary. It is much more spread out than in the first game.
  14. You really don't have that long of a drive. Just go and enjoy.
  15. How exclusive the ERT really is can be a crap shoot. Some nights I've gotten 10 rides in an hour, some nites 3. However, the May ride night usually is less crowded than the rest and MF chews through riders like an acer through a buffet. I say go.
  16. Even with passes I would stay at Breakers Express. The rooms are the best I have yet found in Sandusky that is not a resort, and are about the same as neighboring hotels at about $100 a night for memorial weekend.
  17. If you don't mind lines, it is a fun atmosphere. Probably won't be able to get everything done in one day though. Same pretty much applies to you. Lines will be long Saturday but they usually move fast. If it's the only time you can go, I say go.
  18. Royal Caribbean is now offering all you can drink packages. http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/03/18/idUS93766381820110318
  19. Is there a place for passholders to pre-register for Coastermania? Or do we just show up at the gate on June 3rd?
  20. In regards to Kinda Ka vs. Top Thrill Dragster, the difference in restraints seems to play a large role as to why many prefer Dragster. As for theming in general, when done right it enhances the ride. However it doesn't matter how much theming you add to a coaster like Son of Beast, it's still going to be a horrible coaster.
  21. If you want to avoid lines at the ticket booth, stop at the Meijer in town and pick up some discounted tickets. Usually only $1 more than if you got them at AAA.
  22. The funny thing is that over the last couple of years cruise ships have really started becoming a bit more like floating theme parks! The latest RCCL and Disney ships are closer to bridging that gap! I don't think there will ever be a full scale roller coaster but I could totally see more things like zip lines, water coasters and other "attractions" getting added. Maybe a fully enclosed alpine coaster or something? or a small dark ride maybe? A Shooting dark ride on a ship would be really cool and a lot of fun! I'm sure you could fit a scaled down version of Toy Story mania on a cruise ship somewhere, maybe with a few less number of show scenes that have a longer play time for each for each game maybe? or RCCL could put a Dreamworks character dark ride of some kind. If that happened I think future TPR cruises would definitely include a drunken Dark Ride Shootout Challenge (sponsored by Piers, naturally). The more I think about this idea, the more epic it becomes.
  23. You get a dictionary *Inserts a Snoopy plush*
  24. Might do my first Coaster Mania this year. With those kind of hours Breakers is a must.
