Best Theme Park Show You Have Seen.
Scaparri replied to methos's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This may not fit perfectly with the question, but I actually really like the Summer Spectacular at CP. Don't ask me why, I just really enjoy the music and some of the cartoons and junk. -
I still remember walking into work that afternoon and looking up at Dragster to see that. It actually happened a couple of other times this year. The others were during morning testing though.

Magic Mountain Status
Scaparri replied to infinitespin's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, though it isn't a half bad thought, I can't think of any reason why it would be closed while it was being planned. Revolution wasn't. Also, when i spoke to Jeff Pike of GCI in October, though he may deal with woodies, he told me that the whole process from conception to construction takes about a year, and I can't imagine steel being much different. -
Shuttle Loops Or Boomerangs
Scaparri replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No contest. Shuttle loops. I love the lack of OTSRs, the intense loop, losing speed and then falling backwards, the smoothness, and the launch (even if it's not that intense). Boomerangs are fun and all, but they will never come close to a shuttle loop. -
2 odd coasters in Thailand....
Scaparri replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, what a find. It's really crazy what kind of strange rides there are that we really have little knowledge about. I'm really curious as to how big the shuttle is. Is it just me or does it look to be like 200ft tall? That launch seems fairly short for such a height as well. -
I'm going to Sandusky tomorrow for the CP employee Christmas party. Though I don't work at CP anymore, your fellow employees are almost like family. You spend up to 15 hours a day with them, 6 days a week. You really become close to a lot of people. It's going to be a blast. Kind of sad to since I'm not sure if I'll see many of these people again.

I can think of a few rides where I sort of prefer a certain side, and if given the chance, will ride on that side, but it's not something so significant that I'm disappointed if I don't get it. B&Ms and any other 4-wide coaster are the only coasters I know of where there is a noticeable difference in the ride. It's still usually not terribly significant as far as the quality of the ride goes.

That's awesome Mark. Congratulations! I just hope I can have a similar fate this year. I was so miserable with where I was at (IU) that I left school and am now taking the rest of the year off. Hopefully I'll be able to go somewhere I truly want this fall. Congratulations again man, that's great.

This is a sign on the Ohio Turnpike, about halfway between Toledo and Sandusky. Pretty much, it's the best road sign ever... This was taken from community.webshots.com. I hope to get my own pic this weekend.

"School Boy Heart" by Jimmy Buffet

^Wow, umm... how am I supposed to follow that? A kid threw a molotov cocktail into the boys bathroom when I was in junior high. That's all I have. Anyway, I'm really sick of people telling me that transferring to a school out of state is going to be the worst decision I ever made. If it was THAT bad, then there would be a thousand books about why you shouldn't go to school out of state. If it was THAT bad, then THAT many people wouldn't do it. They don't seem to understand that I don't really have a choice in matter. There isn't a school in Indiana that really fits what I'm looking for. They don't understand that not everybody wants to live in their hometown their entire life. Sure some of their points maybe valid, but so do mine.
-
Yeah, sadly enough, my hometown had one of these last year. Apparently quite a few people showed up.

So I've come to the realizaton that the bills of my hats are never going to quite have the curve that I want them to because my head is too fat.

A new themed ride idea for paramount
Scaparri replied to Hilltopper39's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^That hasn't kept PKD from building 4 launched coasters. Anyway, I love the idea Ross. I grew up watching the Dukes. I can only imagine how awesome a heavily themed ride like that would be! Seriously though, I would be that an attraction like that would bring in tons of people! -
HELP WANTED!!!!!!!!!
Scaparri replied to Hilltopper39's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, I would say MGM and EPCOT would be pretty easy to hit in one day. If you were to miss something, you could go back the next day, and then spend the rest of that day at MK. I love all three parks, especially EPCOT, but I would find it difficult to spend an entire day at any of them. -
I got my package today with the dvd sets I ordered from TPR!

For those of us who are metric illiterate, this will reach a top speed of about 84 mph. Not too shabby. -
Coaster rules that dont make sense

^^Yes, thanks for establishing this again. I got mixed up on the expansion rules. You know, I never mentioned that I bombed my chem lecture last semester! -
Coaster rules that dont make sense
Scaparri replied to waterviper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Alright, I'll suck it up and take the embarrassment of having no idea what I'm talking about. Nevertheless, cold causes friction, which causes the trains to slow down. -
Coaster rules that dont make sense
Scaparri replied to waterviper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's the other way around, objects contract when cold and expand when hot. It depends on what you are talking about. Somethings swell in the heat, but overall, objects shrink in the heat. Water for example, expands when it freezes. Completely fill a cup with water and freeze it. If your cup hasn't broke because of the expansion, then note where the top of the ice is and let it melt again. The water level will be slightly lower than where the ice was. This is assuming your cup didn't break in the first place. Objects expand in the cold. EDIT: I now realize this is flawed and that I had a few things mixed up.
