  1. Some sort of syringe is my guess. But what, I have no clue.
  2. ^Granted, but it would be turned into a Nicki Minaj and Pit Bull station. (Is it radio? I have no idea what it is.) I wish that a 30 pound Reese's Peanut Butter Cup was on my door step.
  3. ^^^Easy solution. Just make the foundations deeper and/or wider until it won't fall down. They might also have to make the tower a little wider to help with wind.
  4. An experiment showing relating electrons and magnetism, where those electrons are emitted from various light sources.
  5. No, you're not the only one who has that opinion of El Toro. The second half is still really good, but not bat-sh*t crazy like the first half. You can definitely tell. That and the fact that the coaster is still too smooth for my tastes (I like rougher, but not to the point of pain) are the reasons why it hasn't overtaken Boulder Dash as my number 1 yet.
  6. ^How come I keep hearing about NL Pro, but I never see it? Why doesn't Mad Data even advertise it?
  7. ^^^^Hmmmmm... I love the layout and all, but the program looks familiar. The "shimmer" in the lift hill chain every few seconds, the snapshot of the train at the very end, something tells me that they got their hands on NL2 early. We all know that they used NL for other coasters, like the one for Knight Valley.
  8. ^I personally think it's a very attractive step into the future, and IMO a much needed step into the future for NYC; while there are several buildings that are nice, the landscape always seemed older to me, not entirely in the good way either, though I admit seeing so many skyscrapers in one place is pretty impressive. A building that I really like is Davis Hall, the brand new Electrical Engineering building at SUNY University at Buffalo, where I am currently enrolled. I love studying in there, but since I'm a mechanical engineer, I don't have a card that gives me access to the building so I have to hope someone's near the door to let me in if I want to go in and study or work there: Interior, I like to generally study where the tables are on the top floor as you see here. The front. It's the cool one on the left. The one in the background is Jarvis Hall (machine shop, named after Greg Jarvis, UB alumnus and one of the victims of the Challenger shuttle explosion) and the one on the right is Furnas Hall (Mechanical Engineering, it's really over twice that height; that's only part of the building.) The back of the building
  9. Here's mine for edited Taken during the Behemoth walkback during the 2008 ACE event at Canada's Wonderland.
  10. Rimsky-Korsakov's Symphony #9, Movement 4, conducted by Neeme Jarvi and performed by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
  11. ^Actually, going in the back for Storm Runner, the launch seems more intense. Also, something i noticed, looking down and leaning forward during a launch or a large drop *always* makes it more intense. I don't know enough in biology why it seems that way, but I tried it on dozens of coasters and drop towers, and it works every time; it also makes drops seem about twenty degrees steeper than they really are. Though I haven't tried this plan myself yet, I will on New Hotness: The most logical route seems to be to start off at Fahrenheit at the very beginning of the day because everyone will crowd around Skyrush and the surrounding area. That way, before people realize Fahrenheit is there, you can get a few rides in on that before its low capacity becomes a problem. Then make your way around the back of the park for a few hours riding everything there and then nearing the afternoon head towards the front of the park as the crowds would have more evenly distributed themselves by then (and at the heat of the day the water park will be packed to the brim so that will make it even easier.)
  12. This is an ideology with which I disagree. As long as it's not blatantly stupid or flame war inducing, why should we frown upon speculation? It builds the anticipation. It's fun to predict what they are going to call it. It's not harmful, so why should it be something that we should not do? I for one would have named this the Switchback Roll.
  13. Pity you missed Stinger. It was a *little* rough, but overall I found it to be fantastic. I definitely think you should not have missed Demon Drop. Yeah the transition to normal position can be rough, but it isn't bad if you anticipate it. Plus, the airtime is incredible, second only to ARM/Larson towers (look down and lean forward; I don't know why, but it makes airtime and launches feel significantly more intense, and drops about 20 degrees steeper. I tried it many times and it always works.)
  14. In the 80's today, rather humid, and SUN!!!!! (There were some clouds for a couple hours, but nothing too bad.) Seeing as I live in Syracuse, NY, one of the cloudiest cities in the nation, I am happy.
  15. Well, that was one of the biggest curve balls I've seen in a while. I mean, it's perfectly possible from an engineering standpoint, especially if it's a zero G roll (zero G's or close to it would mean that the supports in that area wouldn't have to take that much stress.) The support structure for that section would have to be pretty complex for the element if it ends up being an all wood support structure (I doubt it though, they used steel supports in a few spots on NTAG) but it's pretty feasible, especially with the far more precise building techniques that RMC has over RCCA.
  16. You are correct. It is much more stable because of all the extra launch track and the second side (much more the launch track than anything) will act as a giant lateral brace to stiffen up the tower when it encounters any winds or earthquakes (though I don't have my degree yet, so the potential lack of flexibility may also hinder its ability to stand up in earthquakes, but I don't know which factor would greater, but they must have dug much deeper footers than normal to help compensate.) And it should also be far cheaper because they already have the tower put in place, they just had to add the "track" car, and extra braking systems instead of all that and a 400+ foot tall tower. Frankly, I think that sticking it on the side of the tower (like Dream World Australia did some years before) is absolutely ingenious.
  17. Phew. Topper track. That way it should still feel like a wooden coaster, at least that's what I've been hearing about topper track. (The only thing that is holding El Toro back IMO is that it's too smooth. Wooden coasters need at least some roughness IMO.) I still call it a wood coaster, as most traditional wood coasters have the wheel already running on flat steel rails. These steel rails are just taller, wider, and more structurally sound than normal.
  18. Oh. Duh. I over-think stuff like that. I was probably thinking of those new LED wheels from Maurer Soehne that light up more intensely the faster the wheels rotate.
  19. ^Moving a magnet through a coil of electrically conductive wiring creates a voltage. (Or moving a coil around a magnet.) The wheels provide the movement, and there are probably copper wires attached to the wheel that rotate around a magnet. The wires are connected to a circuit that sends the electricity to the LEDs and lights them up.
  20. ^Actually it would be a little bit more expensive because of the labor required in milling out the center, assuming it's one solid piece. I don't know why it wouldn't just be a solid surface on top either. My first guess would be to align the chain dog properly, but that's what the wheel assembly does. *Looks at it again.* DJeXel: Are you sure that's their use? Because the tires are aligned a little to the left of both the chain and the anti rollbacks, thus meaning that the chain dog would be to the right, thus not puncturing the tires.
  21. ^^You can read the reviews about it and not have it affect your opinion. I heard nothing but crap and mostly crap about KD's Shockwave and CW's SkyRider respectively, but I had a lot of fun on both of them. Even in the back seat.
