Long Live The King: Back from the dead!
GAcoaster replied to GAcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looks like it's been delayed a few more days (August 1st now). Apparently the State of NJ wanted to see more tests and the hydraulics shut down due to overheating in the 100 degree weather yesterday... -
This is a family board...you really should have put a warning about the nudity!

Long Live The King: Back from the dead!
GAcoaster replied to GAcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry to double post, but I just got word that either tomorrow or Thursday Kingda Ka is supposed to re-open as long as the rain holds off. With any luck, I'll be going for ERT on Friday morning! -
Long Live The King: Back from the dead!

It looks like it will re-open this week. They were launching trains (all four of them) constantly while I was at the park yesterday. I posted a couple of new pics on my site -
Great link! "And that's one to grow on!"

Wow...what a tool -
I just got word that Kingda Ka cycled today (first time since the breakdown). Unofficial word from my sources is look for a KK to re-open the first week of August if all continues to go well, and the state of New Jersey clears it. More info as I get it, but for anyone planning a trip to ride the world's tallest, fastest coaster, August is looking good now.

Disney (like all theme parks) is private property, and if they choose to scan fingerprints for admission, that's their perogative. No one forces anyone to go to a Disney park, and anyone who feels uncomfortable with being scanned should stay home. Personally, I could care less. If it means people can't scam the park (and God knows there are hundreds of people who must try to every day), they should be able to do what's necessary. On top of that, if (and this is a big if) they had away to also have a way of checking a database for terrorists, child molesters, etc., don't you think it's a good idea to keep those people out of the park? Even if they don't, it could act as a deterrent.

<===== This is a Q-Bot! Here is the pricing for SFOG

SFGAdv-- If it's crowded, get a Q-bot! Worth every penny! Also SFGAdv is only about half an hour drive from the Jersey Shore (for the beach), Jenkinsons, Casino Pier, and Funtown Pier, if you want to rack up some credits. Also, on your drive south through NJ, you'll be relatively close to Clementon Park with their new J2 woodie which is supposed to be great (I haven't had a chance to go yet, even though I live about 45 minutes away!)

Six Flags Darien Lake
GAcoaster replied to kewlsodapop's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have to disagree with all the people who seem to hate SFDL. I thought it was a fun little park. SROS is great, the other coasters are all OK, but they have a great collection of flats as well. The park itself is nicely landscaped, and the waterpark was fun too. I think a lot of people expect too much from SFDL. It's a small park, serving a small market, but has a better selection of rides than an independent park serving the same market would thanks to Six Flags flagging it. -
Yes, but they only have one park that has more than 30 million people who live within two hours of it. SFGAdv has always been one of (if not the most) profitable park in the chain, and even though they have made investments, they have never really brought it to its full potential. That's why they are expanding it again in 2006, and adding a hotel in 2007.

Kinkajous are Cute! (almost as cute as RatTums)
GAcoaster replied to GAcoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
In the past week there have been 2 Chaos rides that had restraint failures: check it out -
While at SFGAdv today, the animal trainers had the 13 week old baby kinkajou, Kumai out to run around. He is THE CUTEST CRITTER I have ever seen! I posted some pictures on my site, but here's my favorite:

Man, Do I Feel Stupid!
GAcoaster replied to coasterdude5's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I caught that too. All this time I've been thinking it was pronounced Shay-kra -
The ride ops on KK named the four trains. The green one is "Gak" The turquoise one is "CP Beat It" The orange one is "Schoolbus Badunkadunk" The dark blue one is "Blueberry Muffin" Blueberry was the one stuck out on the launch:

How is Hurricane Harbor at SFGAdv?
GAcoaster replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
HH at SFNJ is awesome if you like waterparks. I think it's one of the best out there (better than Water Country USA and on par with SF White Water in Atlanta, if that's any guidance). I have lots of pictures of HHNJ over on my site: http://amusementpics.com/SFHHNJ.htm The Batman side of Chiller should be running anytime now (they just placed the new LIMS on the spike), but Kingda Ka is anyone's guess. There are actually a bunch of strip clubs in Philly (near the airport too!) 8) -
SFGAdv is doing everything right with this. They are posting KK's status on the website and on the recorded message, they are posting signs that KK will be closed on the Parking Lot Tolls, the Ticket booths and anywhere else they can, plus issuing $10 return tickets to disgruntled guests, and even sent a message to SP holder today that the Friday KK ERT will be replaced by ERT on Nitro, Batman the Ride, and Freefall. It's a bad situation that I'm sure they wish they weren't facing, but they are making all the right moves to try and stop the problems.

Another 6 Flags shooting.
GAcoaster replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I object to the name of this topic "Another Shooting at Six Flags" When has there been another shooting at a Six Flags park? I know there was a shooting at PKD, and I know there have been other incidents at Six Flags parks, but to the best of my knowledge, this is the first shooting at a Six Flags, and even then, it's a shooting in the parking lot and not in the park itself. Almost all of the events that happen at parks get blown out of proportion. While I agree, it's terrible that someone was injured by a shot fired, he was not actually shot. -
LOL--that statement combined with your Franklin avatar is the funniest thing I've seen in weeks!
