Sky Princess at Dutch Wonderland. Talk about a crappy name for a coaster, that's it! It always make me think WTF was their marketing department thinking, "the ultimate little girl roller coaster...an untapped coaster market...it's brilliant!"

Waterparks, anyone?
GAcoaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am so looking forward to waterpark season. I love hot Summer days, and goign to HH (NJ) to float around for a couple of laps on the lazy river after work. And I love going to waterparks because even if I gain 20 pounds I can still feel good about my body compared ot some of the freaks in spandex sauage casings! Hit any parks over this weekend?
GAcoaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I got as close as I could, but there was a lake between me and SFGAdv, and a fence between me and the coasters on the piers at Seaside: -
The parking lot is gone, and the plantings are just about to start actually. GA has no real parking lot coasters (like the California parks). The coasters built over the former parking lot (GASM and SUF) had all the blacktop removed or covered over, and the King is getting similar treament. This picture shows what I mean: http://www.gadv.com/Construction/A21805/1.jpg. You can't really see it but the parking lot fences are pretty well planted with trees as well.

Photo TR: Universal Islands of Adventure at Night
GAcoaster replied to GAcoaster's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Thanks everyone! I went back twice to get pictures at night, and it was well worth it. Any time you can go and see the park will be open later one night than all the rest, go to the park that night so you get see it lit up! Disney at night is beautiful, but IOA is incredible. -
What is your local park?
GAcoaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks, that helps a lot! Our office used to be in Slough, whcih I thought was fairly close to Thorpe Park (and Legoland). I'm gogin top get some maps and do some more research. If I can fanagle a couple of extra days, I'd like to head to AT (not sure how far away that would be, but I would most likely have a rental car anyway). -
Robb's Silver Bullet Review
GAcoaster replied to Dr Freeze's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey Robb- Just wanted to get your take on any of the SUF's (now the novelty has worn off somewhat). I keep hearing all these people complaining about SUF being forceless and boring (except the pretzel loop), and I completely disagree. I've been on SFGAdv's and SFOG's (the best by far), and I still think it's a rush to ride it. And as for it being forceless, I don't know how much force people want to feel on a ride that's throwing your body against the harness... Sorry to get off topic, but was curious about your thoughts. -
Hey everyone...I guess I should introduce myself since I've been posting all over! :cooldude: I'm Tom, and I'm from the Garden State in the Philly suburbs. I live 20 minutes from GA, and my office is 45 minutes from DP, but I'm originally from the shore (used to ride my bike to Jenkinsons Pier all the time). :dork: In case you couldn't tell I'm an avid photographer, and coaster and park fanatic, and I combine the two hobbies on my site, AmusmentPics.com! igsmile: According to my profile I'm 35, which I find really scary because I realize I got my first job (working at Great Adventure) 20 years ago in March

Islands of Adventure is my absolute favorite theme park, and as beautiful as it is in the day time, it's even more beautiful at night. It's a shame so few people get to see it at night since they close so early! Stay at the Fairfield Inn, Courtyard or Springhill Suites in Lithia Springs. They are one exit west of the park, are all relatively new, and have decent rates. http://marriott.com/property/propertypage.mi?marshaCode=ATLSF http://marriott.com/property/propertypage.mi?marshaCode=ATLSX http://marriott.com/property/propertypage.mi?marshaCode=ATLFS I always stay in one of them (but I always stay at Marriott hotels) -
Wild Adventures and Six Flags over Georgia
GAcoaster replied to jdomkus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, WA doesn't have a lot to offer IMO, so a half day should cover it. Like Elissa said get the Q-Bot at SFOG, and "go for the gold" if it's crowded. SFOG has one of my favorite coaster and ride collections. Not the biggest, fastest, loopiest, but consistently good coasters (Ninja being the only exception to the rule). There shows are usually decent as well. -
Just curious, what is everyone's preference on cars...manual transmission (5-Speed) or automatic? I noticed at a recent ACE event that there were more cars than average which were 5-speeds, and I became curious if this was a characteristic of all coaster fanatics (like the 6th sense for finding buffets), or just a freak of people attending East Coaster (and the word freak immediately came to mind when looking at some of the crowd there). Personally, I am a manual man. Every car I've ever owned has been a 5-speed, and I wouldn't dream of buying an automatic. I even special ordered my car so I could get it in 5-speed and had to wait a month for them to build it.

I agree totally! I thought DCA was great. It was interesting to me because it was Disney doing Six Flags (at least the original SF concept) the right way, with a huge bank roll. With the six themed areas highlighting the best of the state in architecture and landscape, and well themed "common" rides (roller coaster, ferris wheel, rapids ride, assorted kids flat rides, etc.), DCA is Six Flags over California.
