I recorded a song with the Travis Latrine Abortion Clinic today. That's the name of my friend's acoustic band, don't ask. -
It's totally different from ANYTHING I normally listen to, bar Death Cab for Cutie, but I absolutely love it. And not just because it was in Portal 2.

From the Wikipedia page for the Tool album Lateralus: Well, the more you know, I guess.

Ugh, I'm starting to get annoyed with a gaming website I'm an avid member of. First, I noticed a huge flow of new members (I consider anyone that joined in 2011 to be new) that don't change their behavior patterns between 4chan's /v/ board and this relatively sophisticated forum. So quite a few trolls, terrible etiquette, flamings, and threads that encourage vicious debate. Then the advertising on the site started to get worse. Banner ads became more animated and distracting, even to the point of slowing down the speed at which the page loads. Then ads for Gaikai, which could be called nothing less than in-browser pop-up ads, started showing up. Now a bar that has an ad for another site ALWAYS appears at the bottom of the page, along with a bunch of chat crap that nobody is bound to use. And now I'm starting to see how horribly elitist and pretentious the community is. It's just annoying as hell to have a perfectly good conversation degrade to a biased, pointless PC vs Console debate, which happens more often than not.

Nice! My high school is doing that musical next spring, I'm pretty excited, it sounds like a heck of a fun show.

I just had the best round of Halo Reach SWAT I've ever played. It was standard 4 on 4 SWAT on Sword Base, and my team was getting absolutely wiped. About two minutes in, the score was something like 12 to 28, and we had no hope in winning. Suddenly, I just entered beast mode, and started dominating. I got an overkill and killing spree on one of the ramps in the buildings, but then died. Then I got another killing spree, and a triple kill. My team ended up winning 50 to 49, because of my boost in awesomeness and another member of my team having a random moment of pwn. It was glorious. Also, my girlfriend's sister isn't going into labor two months early like she thought she was. Yay!

I never thought I would see the day, but I am now downloading the demo for Duke Nukem Forever on Steam. I'll report back once I play it. Update: THAT. WAS. Actually rather underwhelming. It was the same demo that has been put out for the press for months now, so if you follow any gaming websites, expect no surprises whatsoever. The shooting felt really bleh to me, there was a bit of lag between moving the mouse and seeing the consequences, but that might just be me. The driving section was abysmal. Also, I'm kind of bothered that the shotgun requires no less than pinpoint accuracy, which is extremely difficult for the small enemies toward the end of the demo. Overall, meh, it was okay. I guess it was fun, but it just wasn't of good quality at all. I'm disappointed.

GAME: What's worse than...

Shooting hours and hours of footage for a video series only to have all that data be corrupted and have nothing left. What's worse than breaking the low E string on an electric bass while you're in the middle of a show? -
Well, %@. My long-distance girlfriend has a crazy ex that has been basically obsessing over her and trying to get her back for the last year. He vocally hates me, even though we've never actually met, for "stealing his woman at Jesus camp". And I just found out he's going to Hume Lake, the camp where I met said girlfriend, the same week as me, and knows what I look like.

Just look reeaaaaal closely, and once you see it, you'll s**t bricks. Aww, the image is gone. Yeah, check out the link the guy below me provided.

I dance a dance called the Golden Apple Dance, and I dance all day and night, I dance a dance called the Golden Apple dance, and I dance till it feels alright. Come to Sacramento already, Tornado Rider! June 31st can't come soon enough... -
My ears are still ringing from the amazing Secretions show last night. Last time this happened, it didn't go away for about a week... We'll see. UPDATE: Well, it's Wednesday, and it's seemed to stop already. Even the muffled sound in my right ear, which is what lasted a week last time, didn't persist longer than a few days. Yay!

I like this better.

Looks like it might actually be an improvement over Modern Warfare 2's mediocre campaign. What will make or break the game, though, is whether or not it will have Spec Ops (the best thing about MW2, in my opinion), and the multiplayer. If it's ANYWHERE near as unbalanced and tedious as the last few games have been, I'm renting the game only for the single-player content.

Jimmy's Song - The Haverchucks Thank you Travis for introducing me to these guys, they're one of the best pop-punk bands I've ever heard! And both of their albums, their demo and EP, are available for free straight from the artist!
-
OMAGAWD, these guys are playing in Sacramento on July 31st! I've heard they put on the most terrifying, bizarre and incredible shows ever. And yes, that is an electric cello.

Sorry to double post, but this is something I think a lot of people will be happy to hear about. Valve has put up a 23-song Portal 2 soundtrack as a free download on its website.

Hypnotoad - The Carbonites It's a punk band a few of my friends created. They're a lot of fun to listen to live, but Jesus Christ, this recording is terrible. Even the frontman/bassist admitted it's crap. But hey, I really only bought it to support the band. Can't wait for next month, when they play with The Phenomenauts!

Ever since I added Cave Johnson (of Portal 2 fame) as a friend on Facebook, some rather strange characters have popped up in my People You May Know box on the site. People like Chell, Caroline, the Space/Adventure/Fact spheres, Weighted Storage Cube... It's weird. -

This is the coolest thing I have ever seen. It's a 111 Gigapixel panoramic picture of Seville, Spain. That means the picture contains 1,000,000,000 pixels. Just try zooming in on something in the distance. Then zoom in on the person standing next to it and notice it's so clear you can read their shirt. Then pick your jaw up off the floor. -
I just played three of the five chapters in Portal 2's co-op campaign in one sitting. All I have to say is that my brain hurts like hell now. Those puzzles are a HECK of a lot more challenging than in the normal campaign, even with a friend we were stuck in some test chambers for upwards of 15 minutes. But once you finally solve that puzzles you convinced yourself is impossible, the satisfaction is just awesome. UPDATE: And in my second sitting, me and Mr. Sily Willy Muffin Cakes beat Portal 2's co-op mode. The ending is weird, let me put it that way, but dammit, the feeling of finishing that last set of puzzles was awesome. I'm a bit disappointed with how short it was, since it only took 4-5 hours, but hey, there are still a bunch of achievements to get. Also, I'm downloading APB: Reloaded, since the open beta was released today. I'm pretty pumped about it, this is a game that had serious potential before its failure. Let's hope the free-to-play re-release lives up to those hopes and dreams.

Black Betty - Ram Jam Pretty great song for a band that was, for lack of a better term, made up of a bunch of rednecks.

Oookay, Serious Sam: The First Encounter HD is a terrible game if you're really jumpy like I am. The enemies come out of nowhere, and although they don't look very good, it still terrifying to turn around and have some of those things right in your face. It's really not the kind of game I can play for hours at a time, it's more like 20-minute bursts in between Portal 2 and Disgaea sessions. Speaking of, I finally beat Portal 2 the other day, and am in the middle of my second playthrough. And DAMN, is the game good all the way to the end.
