  1. Rocky Rapids holds a special place in my heart. Although I have never been to Indiana Beach, I have ridden Rocky Rapids 31 years ago when it was at Pontchartrain Beach in New Orleans. It was known as the Log Ride: The Lost Mine. Most of the flume was elevated at that time. It had a "haunted cave" as part of the ride. Was a great ride! Need to ride it again before it disappears forever!
  2. I continue riding coasters in Vegas or SoCal during the off season....thank God the parks out here don't close down!
  3. Elissa, did you all make it to the back of the park? Lots of people seem to miss it, but they have an EXCELLENT rapids ride back there and a good family log ride as well as a replica of an old Mormon town! I was just there a week ago, and the park was incredibly clean/spotless and very nicely landscaped. So many times, I have heard people rip this park for being ghetto and run down with terrible customer service, and that is absolutely, 100%, NOT true! It's a great park and everyone should visit!
  4. That fly thru the building is just so close and tight...cant wait to ride this!
  5. The station roof looks amazing...cant wait to see how the rest of the station looks!
  6. In the south, especially New Orleans, Kings Day/Three Kings Day is very much celebrated(especially in the more Catholic cities)....it just so happens to also be the start of the Mardi Gras season(Mardi Gras King Cake starts getting sold on Jan 6th, traditionally)
  7. The coaster is really coming along nice...especially looking at that lift hill, all nice and white. Not sure I like the fact that they will be retaining some of the old track in certain areas to help secure the structure....it just seems so Magic Mountain to leave old pieces remaining(i.e. the bottom station to the Dragon ride). Yes, there will be several spots where they wont be removing the old track.
  8. I really hope for a major "makeover" of the station....actual replacement of wood and concrete and queue rails....not just a paint job! Unless of course they are going to tear it all down for a completely new station! Did Rattler and Texas giant get new stations, or just refurbs?
  9. The new area will be themed to "Back Alley", should be interesting to see how they work that into the surroundings....Back Alley, huh!
  10. Please, Please. Please have an actual station and not just a platform with a tent like covering!
  11. Not keeping much of the original, but damn it looks sweet!
  12. Not many pics yet, but it looks good so far = 18 AIRTIME moments
  13. They appeared twisted, like corkscrew pieces
  14. New track for Canyon Blaster on the outside deck...only saw two pieces though, they were primed but unpainted! new track piece new track piece
  15. Its actually an extreme dark purple, and theres more than one support in that area that is that color. Possibly due to the attractions in that area, or even due to the fact that there is a Frightdome haunt also in that area.
  16. I decided to make my way down to the dome today. John has been doing some amazing updates, so I just waned to compliment his updates with a few pics of my own. But first, I want to say, the inside of the dome looks amazing...clean and fresh paint everywhere, I haven't seen it look this good since it opened. I added pics of the park as well, including the Canyon Blaster. And yes, the main part of the Rim Runner is still there, including the lift hill! Now if only they would add a real dark ride, the park would be perfect! This coaster is just overwhelming inside the dome...its huge! Glad I took pics with people on the floor, to truly get a vision of the size of El Loco! The Car! The main body of the ride, taken from the Cantina. chain in process of being attached Canyon Blaster station Departing the station! Both coaster are rather close to each other at this point! Canyon Blaster lift hill. First loop. Brakes into station. Out of the second loop. First corkscrew. Into the station. The station The moat for Rim Runner The second corkscrew Rim Runner lift hill Mini Golf Rim Runner! North side of park Airplane ride.
  17. I am either heading to the park this weekend the 21st, 22nd or the 28th, 29th(or waiting till mid January...anyone have any idea how the crowds will be these weekends?
  18. Heading to the park this saturday...any clue if the park will be packed or not?
  19. I would bet X2 is also a financial burden for the park....Deja Vu was also very popular as well!
  20. So, X2 is now down until March 2014...Why do I have a feeling that they DON'T actually plan on reopening it ever, and instead will come up with some excuse as the coaster is no longer able to be repaired or whatever. I would almost bet that its not going to reopen! Hmmmm...I sense a strong Flashback deja vu here...
  21. They are building a coaster next year at the Great Mall of China....perhaps that's where it is going...and damn, I really wish some park would tell Premier to just go to town, unrestricted! I believe if given the chance and money, Premier could EASILY build a top FIVE roller coaster.
  22. I can't wait for this to open...I plan on being there opening day if possible...on a side note, still related...took these pics last night, here in Vegas, at a Truck stop by Nellis....
  23. I have seen the renderings of this coaster...it is completely custom, S&S has pulled out a lot of tricks for this coaster!
  24. Twister 2...certainly a very beautiful looking roller coaster - quite awesome looking....and yet it offers quite a painful, brutal, agonizing, disgusting, murderous experience for a roller coaster. Mister Twister, at the original Elitch's was FAR superior, thrilling, smoother and more enjoyable - as a matter of fact, it was in the worldwide top ten lists for most of its life!
