  1. The Spring Hill planning commission had a meeting last night about the land zoning... http://www.wsmv.com/news/27113814/detail.html ADMIN EDIT: I went ahead and quoted the story so people wouldn't have to jump to see it. Thanks for sharing this with us!
  2. Oh well it was fun (if only for a few short hours) to think of the Nashville area having a theme park again. Maybe this at least raises some awareness to a serious developer.
  3. Pass the popcorn...extra butter please. This is getting really good!
  4. I snagged some images from the web and press conference... Davidson County at the top of the image is where Nashville is located. I'm not exactly sure where the theme park is located on the master plan. I can't wait for the Arrow suspended!
  5. More on the background of the developer: http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/news/2011/03/02/questions-raised-about-festival.html Might we be on the brink of Hard Rock Park 2?
  6. News video and artistic rendering: http://www.wsmv.com/news/27047632/detail.html I remain skeptical too. Whatever happened to Ole South U.S.A. theme park that was also recently proposed for this same area? http://www.olesouthusa.com/Theme%20Park.htm
  7. It's Hollywood's biggest night with the Academy Awards just a few hours away, so I decided to do an update featuring Universal Studios Hollywood. What movies and actors/actresses do you think will take home the little gold statue this year...The Social Network? The King's Speech? Megashark Vs. Black Swan? Roll out the red carpet... The Famous Logo Ride the movies AND super awesome Escalator the Ride too! The entrance but hold on a minute... There...that's better. I have a sudden craving for Reese's Pieces. There's this awesome bike scene in Donnie Darko. Some lucky kid on TPR owns a DeLorean. Hello Simpsons. SFMM...heyyyyyyy. Cyberdyne...SUPER!!! SKLOOSH. True story...I went to a midnight showing of Jurassic Park and fell asleep only to wake up with a huge T-Rex in my face...ACK! This is the park's There Will Be Blood attraction. Daniel Day-Lewis approved. Some of this got charred during filming of Megafire Vs. Kong a few years ago. Let's take the famous tram tour. Uh oh... There's danger ahead...turn back now. The Mexicans have unleashed the fury of the Rio Grande on our tram! Sneaky Mexicans. Red Sea parting...or a flooded tram. You decide. Epic. Oh no! Japan's is better. Watermark approved. And a slightly different backside which is also watermark approved. Here's the 2005 brochure... Here's the 2006 Studio Map brochure... USH...home of super awesome Escalator the Ride as seen here in this 2006 map. The End. Roll credits...
  8. Hey Paula, I was just wondering if testing resumed on the Timberliners yet? I think I missed any update if it did. I'm looking forward to riding the Voyage with them eventually.
  9. ^^ I saw the episode last night. Did they announce what movie is being filmed at SFNO? Zombieland 2?
  10. Shane, if you don't mind me taking the time machine out for a spin again, here's a brochure from the Marriott Playland days... Hi Great America Love the Derby Racer One of my fav spots in the world is sitting on the bench overlooking the beach Definitely a gorgeous park! Mmmmm my fav bumper cars
  11. It's Valentine's Day, so how about some chocolate goodness from Hersheypark...
  12. I just got the latest Beech Bend email newsletter which stated, "The Haunted House had been dismantled, the floors have been re-done, and the new track system has been installed. We're anxiously waiting on the arrival of the new four person ride cars and many new scary tricks and surprises!"
  13. ^ YES. I totally LOVE when others contribute their postcards to this thread and would absolutely love to see your SCBB postcards. That's probably my favorite park in the NorCal area I've visited, so please share!
  14. I was pleased to be contacted by Meyers earlier in the week and glad to see he posted here about Aero World. In case anyone missed it, here's the Aero World press release (scroll about half way down the page): http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=924884#p924884 .
  15. I am amused by that family seemingly walking out of the bushes at Carowinds!
  16. Voted. No alarms no surprises from last year. 17. The park was pretty bad on my visit back in 2006. It was defintely the worst of the parks I visited in the San Fran area then. I can only hope it's gotten better since.
  18. At first I have to admit I hated the new logo. It (the yellow outline) was way way way too glaring for me. The white outline looks much better IMO. With the white outline I have flashes of Disney greatness. I think it still looks too crowded with the tagline underneath the logo and has space issues...just my opinion. I would like to see the tagline underneath hard stop under the logo instead of running past the end margin. Overall it's pretty sweet though.
  19. Hooray Big Mike...I'm so happy you are back! I lost my dad at Christmas last year err 2009, so I can totally relate. Anyway, I'm really thankful I got to share in that INSANE Rutschebanen hairtime moment with you. That photo really shows how crazy it was...totally rocked! Oh and here's a bonus pic of us from Tivoli!
  20. Any news on which contractor is renovating the Haunted House? I also wonder what they'll do with the old Pretzel vehicles.
  21. So it's a new year...2011! Wow...I hope everyone is off to a good start. Let me know what you want to see in this thread in the new year and I'll see what I have in the archives.
  22. In the latest Beech Bend email I received on 12/31: "Happy New Year from the management and staff of Beech Bend Park. We just signed a contract for a complete renovation of our Haunted House. The old ride is already being dismantled. The renovations will include new track, new ride vehicles and new scary surprises. Also, TIKI ISLAND and our new IGA ENTERTAINMENT STAGE will be open for 2011." Sounds like the end of the Pretzel ride vehicles. Season passes are also on sale on their website at the lowest prices of the season through the end of January.
  23. The lack of Mitch's Poll this year was a little disappointing to me. Not that I have any new coasters in 2010 to rank in the poll, but I just enjoy the competition and seeing the results of the voters. I understand that Mitch has been ill, so first of all I hope he recovers from his ailment if he hasn't already and secondly that he feels up to doing the poll again sometime in the future.
  24. I've never visited Magic Springs either Shane, but it's always intrigued me. I did not know that Ed Hart from SFKK was involved with it either, so thanks for that tid bit of info. Hope to check out the park one day. Thanks for this update!
  25. I think Ober Gatlinburg totally needs one of these Alpine Coasters...in the snow! Thanks for the video Robb.
