^Worked today as the closing supervisor for Demon. It was cold and rainy, and the park closed early. Oh well, it happens sometimes. Update for everyone: Friday through Sunday, July 1-3, we are open from 10 AM to 10 PM. There's gonna be fireworks Saturday and Sunday July 2 and 3. Come check it out if you want to.

^I slightly disagree with you, not about the mountain's stability, but about Tatsu in general. I think the ride is so appealing to the GP because it hovers above the rest of the rides on the mountain, and that makes for a hell of a thrill while going up the lift facing down. That said, it would be interesting if Tatsu was a terrain hugging coaster like the others, but I personally prefer it high above the park.

Photo TR: SkyScreamer Media Day!!!
Sunfire replied to Coaster Palooza's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Actually, a lot of tower rides have mirrors that let the ride ops look up at the ride without straining their neck, such as Drop Tower at CGA. Maybe Skyscreamer uses mirrors. -
I would love to call people out unfortunately it is against either CF policy or CGA's. All I know is that I am not allowed to do it. I think it's why most of the ride ops, including me, say we will stop the ride if the person keeps breaking the rules. I'm a supervisor over at Demon, and just so you know, you ARE allowed to call a guest out if they are breaking a rule. For example, if someone's sitting on the handrails in the queue line, after doing the "Please do not sit on the handrails" spiel a few times, if the person doesn't listen, try saying "Will the guest in the green shirt wearing a red hat please get off the handrails." Either they will notice you and get off, or a person near them will flag their attention and tell them to get off. It works almost every time for me, and other supervisors agree to do the same.

I too, can get pretty strict with rules, especially working at Whitewater Falls. A boat with no seatbelts, what could possibly go wrong? Yeah, sometimes ride ops can be strict, but it's tough when you have half the GP COMPLETELY ignoring our safety spiels requiring us to put our "follow the rules" face on. That said, I don't think us ride ops should ever have to yell or sound mean on the PA. We're just following the policies Cedar Fair trained us and requires us to follow.

As a former Invertigo supervisor, I'd like to comment that I've seen our attendance actually rise this season. At least on Saturdays. School groups here for whatever reasons have made coaster lines consistantly long on Saturday afternoons. I'm not sure if this is a good sign, but all we can do is hope. And visit the park, make attendance rise people!

^That's just what I was thinking. Post your opinion once and leave it at that. That said, a Zacspin seems to make sense in this space. I know the space backwards and forwards after working at Invertigo for 3 years. So if they decide to put a coaster there, a Zacspin would fit perfectly. Of course, what do I know? For all I know, the park may close next season, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

TPR Members Working At Parks
Sunfire replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Theoretically, a Trainer/Lead is supposed to focus on training and certifying new associates. They can also give out lunches and breaks if permitted by their supervisor. So yeah, essentially the Trainer and Supervisor positions are just separate instead of combined like a Team Lead, but a lot of times they do have similar job requirements, the only difference is the uniform color and pay rate. Yeah, that's pretty much how it is. Except Trainers generally deal with a lot less paperwork. Last year when I was trainer at Invertigo, I didn't have nearly as much paperwork as I do now as a Supervisor at Demon. That clipboard does get a bit hectic. -

2008-2010: CGA - Invertigo as a ride op. 2011: CGA - Demon Supervisor. -
Well opening day was pretty interesting as a supervisor. I got a few guest complaints about Invertigo being taken out, but nothing too major. And someone barfed at Demon, but I digress (I'm no longer grossed out by it like I used to when I was a new operator). I saw Angry_Gumball and his cousin (?) when I was working controls, so that was a pleasant surprise. Also, Whitewater Falls is closed (there's an attraction closed sign up front), and Firefall's MIA with its gondola being worked on. Other than that, it was a cool opening day. I was definitely kept busy the whole day. I do hope attendance picks up though.

^^That's exactly what I said when I saw it. I must give props to the Cast Members. Had this happened in a California park, a lot of employees might have panicked, so I'm very happy that they handled the situation so well. -

Wow, I'm surprised how calm everyone acted while at Tokyo Disneyland. There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said. Had this happened in California, so many people would freak out.
