This was a great Photo TR. Last time I went to Discovery Kingdom was probably 4 or 5 years ago (when it was still Marine World). It's strange to see how much can change in a couple of years. I'd like to make a trip up to Vallejo some time. But still my homepark will always be Great America. I agree with many other people on here that Great America needs a new "big coaster." With the "same ol, same ol," I'm starting to question whether I should get a season pass next year. I don't really care if it's gigantic or average sized, just something that's intense, and isn't family oriented like Survivor. Don't get me wrong. I love Survivor the Ride, but I want a coaster as thrilling as Top Gun.

Cedar Point Photo TR 7/31/07

Since I'm a sucker for happy endings, I'm going to say that he got to ride it. It's almost poetic. His dream was to ride Maverick. And he got to right before he passed. I'm sure his room in heaven has all the roller coasters in the world, and he gets to ride them forever! -
The Best Woodie under 75 feet Tall

Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz is the BEST woodie I have ever been on. The back seat will give you airtime on ALL the hills. It's incredible! -
I started school last Wednesday. They've already assigned me two essays. It's gonna be a long year.

Oh man, this is really sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, that they can get through this. Maybe it was just his time to go. No matter what it was, hopefully he's looking down on us from heaven. I hope he's in a better place. R.I.P. Masked_Maverick. -
Sadly, this is happening to so many parks. For example: Great America in California. When it opened in 1976, it was a THEME park, not a thrill park. It was, in a nutshell, a tribute to the United States. Every themed area showed different places in the country, such as the South, the seaside, the Yukon, and so on. Each area had its own feeling. This was when Marriott owned the park. Then when Paramount took over after Marriott could no longer manage it (not exactly sure what happened), they decided to make it a park with a bunch of crazy roller coasters instead of a nice theme park. There aren't even any themed areas anymore! That's very sad. Can't there be a park that has nice themes, where families can just go and have a good time (other than Disneyland, love it to death, but I'd like to see more theme parks)?

Photo TR: (Paramount's) Great America
Sunfire replied to TopThrill182's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, Paramount pretty much f'ed up the park. I wasn't alive at the time, but when the park was owned by Marriott, I hear that it was an awesome park that had tons of good rides, and great theming. The name Great America used to mean something. -

Which political party do you belong to?

I don't understand politics at all. I honestly have no clue the difference between Democrat and Republican. Haven't learned it yet. -

I got 3/10. -
^Didn't I say that we spent the rest of the day doing re-rides? I got on Wipeout at least 4 times during the day. I rode all my favorite rides at least twice. If only Giant Dipper's line weren't always full. Why is it every time I go to SCBB, GD only runs one train? The queue moves so much faster with two.

Whoa. You have a gift for photography. That one pic of Millennium Force is perfect (the one you took accidentally). I can't wait to see more pics from you.

On Friday, August 24, I hit the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk with my cousins. Even though we weren't there for the entire day, I had a blast. We got there about 3, and we didn't hit rides until around 3:45 because we were eating (Thank God Little Caesars was nearby, saved us $). Nothing like a picnic by the Beach. First up was Rock O Plane. I didn't flip a lot because I was practicing, but I got a good number of flips. This ride never gets old. Next I wanted to hit Wipeout, a Huss Breakdance (BEST FLAT EVER), but someone had puked so I had to skip 4 now. But I did ride Space Race, which were really fun bumper cars that you can spin. 1st time I got dizzy on bumper cars. Then I got to ride Wipeout, which was running awesome. It used to be outdoors, but then they moved it inside and added a bunch of disco balls and strobe lights to make it feel faster. I love it! It was a little warm, so I figured I'd take my younger cousin on the Log Ride. I've never gotten that wet on a log flume before (besides Splash, nothing will ever be wetter than that). During the drop, it sprayed water in my face. That made the photo look funny. Lol. Tilt A Whirls make me wishy washy. Sometimes you'll get a boring ride with NO spinning at all, where you're stuck at the outer end of the ring (you know what I'm talking about if you've ridden one). And other times you'll spin so much, you nearly puke. I experienced both. Luckily I didn't vomit. I also rode the Cliffhanger, which was fun, but the position was uncomfortable. Next we hit the other side of the Boardwalk. The long side. May I say that Typhoon is a very scary flat. You get tons of hangtime! It gave me a heart attack when they hung us VERTICALLY in the air. Next was the must ride classic coaster, Giant Dipper, running beautifully as usual. In the back, you get so much airtime, but the fan curves hurt A LOT in the back seat. Then my cousins forced me on the Hurricane, which hurt more than Giant Dipper's fan turns. Usually I like it, but it just hurt that day. Finally, we got to ride the Double Shot, which provided spectacular views of the surrounding area, as there was no fog at all. Yay! The rest of the day we spent doing re-rides of other stuff, and riding more flats. I hate Tsunami. The centrifugal force just kills the fun, and my side. But I love the Cyclone (roundup). I like vertical g's, but not lateral. Overall, I had a great day. I spent a lot of time with my family, and we all just had lots of fun. It was an awesome way to end Summer with a bang.

Photo TR: (Paramount's) Great America

That's something I have to ride every time at Great America now! After I saw your video of Wipeout, I do that on Spongebob all the time. By the way, I went to Santa Cruz on Friday, and got about 30 spins on Wipeout before it started, and got about 15 consecutive flips on Rock O Plane. I almost puked. -

I TOTALLY agree with you! Lots of people criticize Great America, but for me, it will always be my favorite park. It's been like a second home for me for the last decade or so. -

Hey Robb, do you think that TPR will ever do a West Coast trip, with parks such as Disneyland and SFMM, but also Norcal parks like Great America and Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk? That would be so awesome. Great America is my homepark, and it'd be sweet to meet you guys in person. It would also be hilarious to see 40 TPR members overtake Survivor the Ride.
