  1. Exactly. It may be the same park and the same rides, but other companies and suppliers will know that it is not the same management and be willing to work things out with the new people at the park.
  2. My idea is to base the membership not on money, but on usership. I think that a memebership should become vaild on some of the following conditions: - over 1,000 posts - been a memeber for 2+ years - has never been banned - if not over 1,000 posts, has posted at least 10 trip reports You get the idea. Not necessarily a paid memebership, but to show parks and events that people can't just sign up one day and end up getting into Holiwood Nights the next.
  3. Sweet! Someone bought the park so we can have the exact same Chapter 11 101 class this time next year!
  4. I love this site.
  5. Um.... you realize, of course, that the last line is actually "and maybe I'll love you" The whole point of the song is that the woman is a using, controlling bitch. Nope. I got the lyrics from a lyrics website. I guess they are wrong. Oh well. Wrong lyrics and incorrect uses for them fits very well with Hard Rock Park anyway.
  6. ^ Just about everyone of those aren't offered on basic cable. I do not have cable. I called up Comcast to see what they are offering with basic cable these days, and I was shocked when I found out there are only 7 or 8 channels. I guess that is really all that I have now, and I can suck up the $10 to get it, I guess, but I just remember there being so many more many years ago.
  7. The McDonald's rumblings actually wouldn't have been so far-fetched 40-50 years ago. When Ray Kroc saw what Disney was doing, he had an idea for an amusement park, I believe called Wild West World. It was decided against in favor or building Playland's in each McDonald's so there would be an "amusement park" in every location, rather than just one central location.
  8. Typical PETA response. If you can't argue the point, start name calling. They only want to believe the facts that support their point and forget the ones that don't. The group is a bunch of hypocrites. Sure animals should be treated humanly but they are just animals. Please pass the A-1, my steak is a little dry. Please note: I am not a member of PETA I am not an employee of PETA I only support their cause, not the way the organization is run I did not call you a name Thank you
  9. I can appreciate that school of thought that you should call. I mean, I guess it really does just depend on the position, and the length of the job selection and interview process. I can appreciate persistence and aggressiveness to get a position. I guess during the job hunt, if it is a good prospect, I tend to be a little conservative. So, I figured I would give an update on me. Remember that great job that I scored a page or so back? Well, I have fallen victim to the economy as many other people have. Apparently, the company didn't realize the economy and industry was in the crapper when they thought they were going to be able to expand. And the first position that had to go? The one that they just created - the position I was in. It is kind of weird - I was due to go to NYC today, and scheduled for Orlando and Miami next week. 10 minutes before I got called into the conference room to get canned, I actually set up two appointments in the Anaheim area, and was ready to pick up the phone to set up something in Valencia and a couple in City of Industry. Oh well I guess, that is just business. So now I'm on the search again, for the third time in 8 months. This weekend I sent out about 60 resumes. I had an interview yesterday for an entry-level position (though the interviewer was very impressed with me and straightout said that I would be very well suited to jump into middle management). I have a second interview with them tomorrow. I had a phone interview yesterday for a Marketing Director position at a local construction company. It sounds like an ok position, but with the way the guy was talking, it sounds like there has been a good amount of turnover within the company over the past few years, and that is turning me off from it. If he calls me back to set up an interview, I will take it as another option. I also got a call for an Inside Sales position at a local telecom company. I really don't want to do inside sales in a call center, but it is an option just to keep my head above water right now if that is what it comes down to. I also got a call from Dorney Park and will have a phone interview at 1PM tomorrow. Apparently they are looking for middle management there at this time - interesting considering there isn't anything posted on their website that I know of.
  10. I believe they have been doing this demo for a while (a year or so maybe?) I had a former PETA employee over at my apartment one night, and he was talking about how this was in the works a couple of years ago. They actually wanted to send him and a few others that were getting ready to kick off the campaign into the deep south. I'm not sure if they went through with that idea or not, as I'm sure it was a serious liability considering the African American population in some southern regions. They also wanted to set this up at various rap tours..... once again, see above.
  11. ^^ I'm sorry, I completely misread your first post. I was going off about how some people think there is this secret laboratory that PETA has where they torture animals and the like. I have to agree with you that some of their sponsors do have some kind of animal testing at some phase in the production. Do I completely agree with it? No. But that at least means there is progress. Also, some of the celebrities that endorse PETA aren't complete vegans or anything of that nature. Simon from American Idol can be seen chowing down on a steak every day, but he still does adds for them for spay and neuter. Carrie Underwood does things for them about going vegetarian, and then shows up on a red carpet with leather boots. Pamela Anderson..... well she is an idiot. But aside from that, celebrities have very strong stands on certain issues, but not in the whole animals rights movement. Which brings me back to those products that you speak of. It is at least progress that at some point an animal isn't harmed in the chain of production. ^ gisco - I know. You have posted that kind of crap before.
  12. I have to agree with that. Ingrid Newkirk thinks that any press is good press. No matter how much people try to tell her the opposite, she just rolls her eyes. "At least it gets people talking about the subject." Um, no it doesn't. It gets people talking about how much they hate your organization. Actually, they have done a large amount of things that aren't widely publicized. The only things that the press cares about is when they do something completely off the wall. Just this past week, thanks to an undercover PETA investigation of a pig slaughtering factory, a few men will actually be tried in court for the mistreatment of pigs before their slaughter. That is groundbreaking, as no judge has ever tried a case like that before. And if the man do happen to get charged for this, it will be great precedent for future cases, and could eventually greatly alter humane standards forever. Also, I am a big fan of a lot of PETA's literature. I have been known to drop off various pamphlets and magazines to people. I actually have boxes of their stuff in my closet. I think information is a very effective way of getting people aware of things, not crazy stunts. Actually, that is a pretty big load of garbage. They in no way test on or harm animals in any laboratory. Why would they do that when that is something they are trying to stop? Total myth. And calling about something like that is like me calling up, or emailing B&M because I'm doing a school project on their roller coasters. Chances are, you won't get a response. Or, maybe you just tried to contact the wrong person? Or, they didn't give you a call back because you weren't important enough, like say, the NBC news or something. I'm not trying to justify. Either way, I'm sure it would have been hard for you to get answers about something like that.
  13. Holy hell! Why can't people stop posting PETA stuff? By posting it, you are just giving them the press that they WANT. That is their only intention when doing something like this. They probably don't believe it in any way, they just want press from it. It's like we should have a PETA mega thread or something.
  14. ^ Don't call. You definitely do not want to call. It would have been best to get the contact information from the person that you were interviewing with before you left. However, if you do want to call - call the receptionist and ask for the email address of the person you interviewed with, and send out a nice thank you letter to the person. That would be the best way to go about it. And defintely do not ask "how things are going" with the interview process. If you do not hear from them in a week and a half or so, that would be the time to write another email and ask, but not a day or so after being interviewed.
  15. Does this mean that the heavily promoted Six Flags America announcement really won't be that HUGE?
  16. So, Clementon is a wealthy neighborhood, so that means IMAGE, IMAGE, IMAGE, and CONSUME, CONSUME, CONSUME?
  17. I'm in sales. It was a position in the lighting industry.
  18. I don't wish any ill will on the company that let me go either. I had a great, although very short, stay there. They also said they would be a reference for me, to explain the short stay. It just sucks because I declined 2 other job offers to go there, and really fed into the idea that they were looking for someone that would be there for 25 years. They are a small company (I was their 6th employee) and they had just created the position (VP of OEM Sales) because they foresaw a lot of growth in that area. Then, the President and Vice Presdient (father and son) went to Atlanta for an annual industry conference, and I guess they didn't like what they saw, and when they got back on Friday I guess they just made the decision. I don't know the full extent of what went down in making their decision, but I'm guessing they lost a pretty big client (like a $1.5 million a year kind of client). They kept saying that it was a business decision, and it was nothing personal. For the past 24 hours I've been throwing it back and forth in my head, "Maybe it was me." But, I have finally stopped taking it personally, and I really do think it was a business decision, though, I think it was made on impulse. It just sucks because I really liked the position, but I can see that it wasn't just my salary, comissions and bonuses, and benefits that did me in. It was the fact that they didn't want to pay for my travel around the country (the position was 50% travel). But it was just weird because they had just set appointments for me to go to NYC, Atlantic City, Orlando and Miami within the next 2 weeks, and notified me of the trips on Tuesday (the day before they left for the conference). Not to mention, I had been calling clients all morning yesterday introducing myself. I remember my last call at 11:34, and then I was called into the office at 11:36. Ouch. They said that if anything opened up, I would be the first person they would call. I'm pretty sure they were just being nice though. "Believe me, we REALLY like you." - something I heard about 6 times in 3 minutes. I've just gotten the swift kick in the balls feeling out of my system, and I've been sending resumes out since 8 this morning. And..... it is date night. I'm not sure if I can put on a happy front when I know I'll be shelling out about $75 for dinner, even though Tricia thinks things are going to be fine. I'm just not sure.....
  19. Who cares how they look when they are saving you money and reducing our dependence on oil?
  20. HAHAH!!#$@!@$HAH Wow. This is amazing. This kid needs to grow up.
  21. I just think they look stupid & are slow that's just my opinion though And that is the kind of thinking that is causing the United States to go downhill....... Tricia got tickets from a coworker yesterday. I'll be going to the show today after I send out more resumes....
  22. I just got laid off an hour and a half ago, after just 1 month on the job thanks to the "economy". Goodbye $40,000 salary, $60,000 of bonuses and incentives, and 50% travel around the country. After I receive my pay next week for the last two weeks, and the severance pay (two weeks) I will once again have 2 weeks to find a job.
  23. ^ Sure, Shaps has been fond of the family friendly aspect, but is he still holding onto it?
  24. So I'm guessing he would consider this HUGE?
