Some of those Disney fan boys/girls are just scary. But this was just great. "Just out of curiosity, Do people go into the parks and enjoy them anymore? I know when I go into the parks I am just thrilled to be there for all the attractions, shows, and everything else they have to offer. I find it to be more fun exploring the park rather sitting there and wishing death upon a wand or hat." The poster makes a great point, do Disney fans ever enjoy the parks anymore or do they just look for things that they think are wrong!

I don't think the POV does the speed and intensity of this ride justice. It also doesn't show off how rough it is, but I have to say to take a closer look at the offride footage and you'll see how insanely fast the coaster goes. --Robb I was going to say the same, looking at the POV it seems so slow, but seeing the off ride footage that sucker moves...Glad to see you guys are having a great time. Thanks for the update.

Just got home from work where we had a screen check of the new "Transformers" movie. This would have to be one of the best summer blockbuster of the last ten years! Smart, thrilling, non stop action, funny and the best and fastest two and half hours i have spent in a theatre in a long while. This lives up too and goes beyond the hype, beg, borrow or steal a ticket. Every summer film from now on will have this film as the benchmark for entertainment. If it was not 3.32am in the morning i would and could watch it again.

Where did it say that this going to be low budget? "Universal intends to spend between $230 million to $265 million to create the "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" at Islands of Adventure along with a previously announced Simpsons attraction, according to a filing Thursday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. This year alone, the expenditure is expected to reach between $75 million and $85 million, the filing said." That does not low budget to me, but hey each to there own.

Why? I'm reserving judgement until I see and hear more, but as a Disney fan, why would I be upset over this? This was taken from WDWMagic Forums: "Yes, but will Potter alone be enough to save Universal? Doubtful. Especially since they are going to take the cheap route like usual and do rethemes and things of that sort. I guess it was one way of getting around Rowling wanting multiple attractions and an entire land. Is Potter the type of product that can support an entire land? Disney didn't think so, and I agree with them. I guess we'll find out. It will probably be popular for a while, and through the release of the rest of the movies, but after that? I'd check it out if its impressive on my first trip after it opens, but I doubt it will be any more than that. For one, the terrible condition of Dueling Dragons gives me immense headaches after riding. " love this one as well "Believe what you want, but its about the money. If it was about doing it correctly and doing the best possible attraction for Potter fans, where the most Potter fans would see it and enjoy it, she would have taken Disney's offer." There are so many more, the Disney Fan boys are are always trying to under sell Universal, but from what i have seen IOA looks way more themed than what Disney does. But this one will all ways be my Favorite "This whole thing is just an excuse for Universal to have their own castle so they can rip off Disney!!!"

The Cube ( Melbourne, Australia )
rosscoe replied to rosscoe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You actually have to pay two seperate fees. One to get into the Skydeck and then another price to get in the glass box that extends. So it's going to be a ridiculous total cost of about $23.50 US. No way I'd pay that much. That's about the cost to get into some amusement parks. See thats not too bad in payment wise, the problem is our parks are not cheap to get into, some of them in US$ would be more than you guys pay to get into Disneyland. With less than 1/3 of the rides and shows... -

The Cube ( Melbourne, Australia )
rosscoe posted a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
New view from Melbourne highrise By Shelley Markham May 01, 2007 THRILLSEEKERS can now take in a unique view of Melbourne from a glass-floored cube hanging from the side of the city's tallest building. The Edge at Eureka will open to the public on May 15 as part of an observation area on the 88th floor of the Eureka Tower apartment block in Southbank. The glass walls, ceiling and the floor start opaque and gradually become clear as the cube fully extends 3m from the side of the building. Soothing music followed by the sound of grinding metal and breaking glass were used for sound effects during the media preview ride today. Project director James Cockburn said he wanted visitors to the observation deck to experience something unique. "We're trying to go from comfortable to scary. We're sadistic I suppose," Mr Cockburn said. "We've got an experience that is more than the view." But Mr Cockburn said the five minute ride is not for the faint-hearted. "It's a glass box that's sitting on wheels and we're rolling it out from the building," he said. "It's cantilevered into the building, so we don't actually structurally hold it into the building, it holds itself into the building." Mr Cockburn said the highest safety standards had been adhered to. "It's very, very safe," Mr Cockburn said. At $16.50 admission for adults, the Skydeck 88 observation deck offers the same 360 degree views of Melbourne as a $7 million penthouse on the floor below. Admission to The Edge costs an extra $12 for adults. Mr Cockburn said Skydeck 88 also boasted a terrace, viewfinders positioned to take in places of interest around Melbourne and sloping floors designed to "play with people's senses". The $500 million 92-storey Eureka Tower, which was officially opened in October last year, was designed by Fender Katsalidis Pty Ltd and built by Grocon Pty Ltd -

Bat Promotional Video Posted
rosscoe replied to CoasterFanatic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember seeing this on the news when it opened, for some reason nearly all the early coasters at King Island made it on to the news broadcasts in Australia. ( There was a huge story on the opening of "The Beast" ) What i loved about that video was the chessey 1970's soundtrack ( was it not also used in a couple of porn flicks? ) -
Went to Screamworld ( Dreamworlds night time event ) back in Feb and just wanted to share some photos. Had a great time, park was not too busy, the only down side to the whole night was all the water rides where closed ( for safety reasons, so i was told ) Cyclone was running the best i have seen it in years, smooth, fast and a lot of fun. Cyclone was rough when it was at Luna Park in Sydney, while Dreamworld needed a new coaster after "Thunderbolt" it's a pity they did not buy something new. But after saying that it can be a fun ride, sometimes. -
Aussie Halloween I need your help
rosscoe replied to rabid disney's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Because Halloween was not celebrated in Britain it did not travel there with British colonization, but has some recognition due to American cultural media influences. Compared to the USA, Halloween is reasonably uncelebrated in Australia. Halloween is most popular in Ireland, where it originated, also known in Irish Gaelic as "OĆche Samhain" or "Samhain Night". The Celts celebrated Halloween as Samhain, "End of Summer," a pastoral and agricultural festival of fire, when the dead revisited the mortal world, and large communal bonfires would be lit to ward off evil spirits. (See Origin: Celtic observation of Samhain below.) In Ireland they continued to practice their deep-rooted, ancient pagan rites well after the arrival of Christianity in the middle of the sixth century. As October 31st is the last day of the bright half of the year, the next day also meant the beginning of Winter There is no Cultural history for us to have this hallmark holiday, it would also need to take place during March. But then again it does not matter what i think, if Movieworld thinks it would draw crowds in over that quiet period go for it.
