  1. Here's a picture from last summer, at my 10th high school reunion. I'm second from the left, in the grey flower-y shirt. My fiancée, Dione, is on the far left. (In the photo, not in politics. ) The other two are some friends from high school. (Duh!) OK, the pic's not showing up, even though I know that's the correct URL. Help, please???? ADMIN EDIT: Fixed!
  2. I can see SFWW Sacramento from my apartment, but we usually go further afield to SFMW.
  3. The water park that's attached to Elitch's is awesome. Definitely do that one!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Dione and I love water parks!! We've done Oakwood Lake (which they keep saying is going to close "this year," but it never does), Water World Sacramento (which I can see outside my bedroom window), SF Elitch Gardens, Wild Waters Sparks, Roseville SunSplash, Pharoah's Kingdom Redlands, a few others. Elitch is by far our favorite.
  5. Anyone else think it's odd that the ride named after Medusa, the Greek goddess, is themed in Egyptian motif?? Wouldn't a Greek theme be more appropriate? That's been bothering me for a few years. Despite that, though, it's still my favorite coaster at MW.
  6. My first roller coaster was the Demon at Great America, back in the early 80's when it was still called "Marriott's." My brother, three years older than I, got us in line and told me it was the line for the carousel. Little did I know what we were in line for, until we got inside the train. But I was hooked!!!
  7. I am a huge fan of RCT and RCT2 (Haven't seen 3 yet.) Anyway, does anybody else notice the problem with food and nausea/vomiting? It seems like the little people are more likely to barf on a nauseating ride AFTER they've eaten. But personally, whenever I ride a coaster on a full stomach, there's no problem. It's only when I ride a coaster on an EMPTY stomach that I feel sick. So the game is backwards. Thoughts?
  8. Wow. Just like Dione and I with the bus trips. (Fly somewhere, ride the city's transit system, maybe stay overnight, fly home.)
  9. Throwing up in the ice bucket? What a way to start out!! How did we get engaged? After we had been dating for seven years, I decided it was time to go further. So I wrote her a really long, mushy note explaining all the reasons why I love her. I ended with, "Will you marry me?" and then told her she had as long as she wanted to answer. Three years went by, and I assumed she had forgotten all about it. Suddenly, on October 30, 2004, on the way to Marine World, she said "Yes, I will marry you." Then, at the park, we got stuck on a roller coaster and they closed the park early due to a power outage. Must be an omen!!
  10. Perfectly good story, actually. In my case, she was my high school sweetheart. (And still is.) But we didn't like each other at first, and the first time we met we had a fight ending in my calling her a "b___." The rest, of course, it history. :->

What do all those little animated, multi-colored icons on the forum posts pages mean?
  13. So, how did you guys meet? I always love hearing "how we met" stories.
  14. That quickly, huh? Wow. They still haven't sent me the Halloween CATALOG I asked for months ago.
  15. Aha . . . but I showed her your video, and now she wants the ones you have--I assume those are the Disneyland ones. That'll teach me. Thanks for letting me know. I'll make sure I order them in plenty of time. -Jim
  16. I remember the time when I was about 10, and my brother was 13. We didn't want to wait in really long lines, and that was before FastPass, so we just went through the line yelling, "Mom?? Mom??? Mom??? Where are you???" People just let us through. Later that same day, we ended up as guinea pigs on the new "Splash Mountain" ride. It wasn't officially open, but we got to test it. Dang thing broke down so much, it took us an hour to do the circuit!
  17. I'm Jim, and just about everything important about me can be found here: http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=jumbach
  18. Shirt: Black and gold sweater. Undershirt: Plain white. Blue sweat pants, holey socks.
  19. We're getting married here in Sacramento this November, and are rushing off to Disneyworld for a week of fun for our honeymoon. She loves those little hats they give the bride and groom; do you get to wear those even if you didn't get married there, but are only honeymooning there? -Jim "It's cheaper to Fly to Tampa" U.
  20. You could always do bananas or cucumbers or flying saucers.
  21. I don't have a photo, alas, but I'm never going on Zonga! at SF Marine World again. The block brakes are very abrupt, the headrests are quite uncomfortable, and it REALLY throws you around. Dione still gripes about it. I'm all for coasters, but not that one!!!
