This may be the most important debate of our time. I've seen burgers elevated to a much higher level (Minetta Tavern Black Label Burger, Spotted Pig burger with Roquefort, a billion other NYC places using Pat LaFrieda beef, etc.) than burritos. This is not to say that burritos could not be taken high end. Just that I've never seen it. I love burritos, but they seem to be more of a utility/stuffing-the-herd type food than burgers at present. Though many places make obnoxiously large burgers to the same end. I'm going with burgers for now because the burger game has been stepped up a lot recently, while the burrito has been left more humble. I would be more torn if the question were burgers vs. real mexican style tacos (double wrapped corn tortillas, cilantro, salsa verde, etc.).

There are already reports of people hiring homeless people to wait in line for them at iPhone launches. -

If an outlet mall does get built at Riverwalk, I bet the several retail stores within walking distance are going to be THRILLED. -

Maybe they're counting on some negative coverage under the philosophy of "all publicity is good publicity". Some people might be scared away by the negative coverage, while others might say, "Oh, that's right. Kentucky Kingdom is reopening." -

I'll have to try lamb fries some time. I don't always like offal, but I make a point to at least try it. It's interesting that they serve great steak in such humble looking surroundings. -
Yeah, I worked at a company once where the CEO's compensation went up by millions every year for 2-3 years in a row. And not because he performed well as Ouimet has. He was just good at convincing the BOD he deserved more cash. Ultimately, CEOs should see their comp go up if they succeed. It's a tough job and many do not do well.

I'm sure Dan's attorneys will send the writ to the Supreme Court of Indiana, but they probably won't hear the case. Only a tiny fraction of cases make it that high. -
Cats are great for keeping your house free of rodents and insects. They're excellent hunters. But they're not for people who don't want a pet that is constantly plotting their death.

Knoebels Discussion Thread

Pork chop on a stick is a pretty fun option at Knoebels. Their soft serve is usually really good. And I think they do sweet stuff well in general. Some of the food though is obviously from frozen food service packs. The kind of stuff you could probably pick up in the freezer section of any Costco. Overall, they do have a nice variety and I can't think of any other park that does "park food" better. -

Are there enough parks with real table service restaurants to merit forking out a second food category? I think this is just another artifact of the GTAs like Cedar Point winning best park every year. The good news is that may be ending soon: Cedar Point Sandusky, Ohio 23% Europa-Park Rust, Germany 22% Cedar Point barely won this year. This is long overdue. While I find Epcot's food to be hit-or-miss, I agree that they do it better overall than other amusement parks and therefore should win the food category. -

+1 This is the only park that I have to visit every year. I'm so glad that they're still doing their own thing and not selling out to the Spanish or an RV company or having silly family court battles over control of the park. -

If you want excellent parks/coasters in a nice, very English-friendly country give Sweden a thought. You'd be VERY hard pressed to find two parks better than Liseberg and Grona Lund. There's a quick train connecting Stockholm and Gothenburg. I don't believe there is much for your friend in Gothenburg, but Stockholm should be great for him. It's the "Venice of the North". Very pretty town with plenty of standard touristy stuff. The main drawback is you'd have to go in September because the parks aren't open much after that. But you probably don't want to go to Scandinavia in the off season anyway because of the short days. If you do decide to go to Sweden, the most important thing is to not skip either park. They are both essential. -

Yeah, it's hard to fully appreciate Knoebels if you haven't been on the Skooters or the Flyers. Two very ordinary rides that they do extraordinarily. -

It's sad that this has come to this. The Timberliners were intended to solve a real problem with the Voyage. Eventually you have to draw a firm line with your vendors and tell them "no more playing lab with our equipment". At my work we have to tell this to Cisco on a regular basis because they are notorious for trying to do this. We let them do a little testing and then cut them off because they'll extend it way past the point where testing on a customer's production equipment is reasonable. It sounds like this is exactly where Holiday World is with the Timberliners. -
Is wearing a suit that fit you 20 pounds ago really formal dining? I'd rather they lower the bar to business casual and actually enforce the dress code. I agree that allowing shorts in a formal dining room is a step too far. It's not that much trouble to pack one pair of pants. You can do it and still travel carry-on only.

- Every person trying to defend a new B&M 2001-2013 Exactly. It's not about judging a ride by an animated POV. It's about knowing what kind of rides B&M has built for the last 10+ years. Why would they change this now when a middle-of-the-road B&M will still be in the top 2 rides for this park? -

Yep! A few pages back one of the Ohio nut jobs called me "TPR's most negative member" for pointing out the widely known fact that modern B&M inverts aren't as good as the old school ones like Dragons, Montu, Katun, Batman, Nemesis, etc. Banshee will be a smashing success for the park and WAYYYYY better than SOB. But one needs to go into this with realistic expectations considering the types of rides B&M is building these days. -

I wish Shake Shack would expand a bit more. They blow away all the fast food burger chains.
