Are the other 4 (besides Son of Beast) RCCA woodies still operating? Anyone taking bets on how long until they're all gone? -

Yeah, while an RFP was the right thing to do, it seems late for that. They should have done that years ago. At this point it feels like they're doing CPR on a decomposed corpse. -

Fixed! -
I really wish Five Guys sold a smaller portion of fries. Their small order, even divided among two people, is much too big for me in addition to the burger. I just wind up eating the peanuts instead.

Smashburger is a reasonable option as well. It's kind of like an improved version of Steak 'n Shake.

According to the New York Times, iOS will get Google maps. Apparently, this delay is Apple's fault for not giving Google much advanced notice that Google Maps was being kicked off of the default install of iOS. Google only found out about this back in June. Perhaps Apple thought that Apple Maps would be better by now than it turned out to be. But realistically I'm not sure how they thought it could be that great compared to Google who has a several year head start and thousands of people working on Google Maps. Sounds like sheer arrogance to me.

^The Skyline at Kings Island is fairly representative of what you'd get anywhere else. Cincinnati chili is polarizing. People from Texas especially seem to have a disdain for condiment chili. According to their way of thinking, chili should be a heartier, self-contained meal. -

I have no idea why anyone thinks it's odd to put a meat sauce like chili on top of pasta. Have they never heard of bolognese sauce, ragu, etc? I'm not a huge Skyline person, but I've always found it to be better than Gold Star. I swear Gold Star sells me stale buns half the time. For me, the appeal is basically that it's an inexpensive and lightning fast table service lunch. You can actually go out to lunch and be back within an hour. One big improvement both Gold Star and Skyline could do would be to use better hot dogs in the coneys. I'd gladly pay a lot more if they'd offer a good dog, because they opt for the cheapest ones they can find. -
So, maybe this is why TPR was not allowed to tour any Foxxconn factories. Is one of these crazy iPhone factory riots going to be China's next Tiananmen Square?

^Yeah, 9 AM should be just fine. Late at night during the summer when everyone is out in the streets = not so good. -
Gonna hold off on upgrading to iOS 6 for now. While it's going to take time to approach Google's level of detail, I bet they can fix some of the rendering bugs pretty quickly. I'll upgrade after a patch or two. If I remember correctly, OS X Lion was a total buggy turd when it first came out as well, but was quickly patched.

Wow, you risked life and limb to go to Tucker's. Don't wander around that neighborhood after dark! I think they get their goetta from the butcher shop I frequent at Findlay Market. Also, still never been to Camp Washington chili. Not sure why. If you're ever back this way I suggest the Senate (down the street from Tucker's) and Terry's Turf Club. Especially Terry's if you're into neon signs. -
Bowling Green is in the middle of NOWHERE. I imagine they're concentrating their efforts on greater population density areas first. Though there probably are a lot of smart phone users there. Yeah, it seems like Apple Maps are for now a step down from Google Maps. Though I guess some people will appreciate the turn-by-turn navigation.

^I think it's more about not having to pay Google for having maps in the default iOS install. There are countless examples of third party apps you can get that replace basic iOS apps: email, weather, web browser, calendar, etc.

^Yeah, I'm a bit confused as to what they think they bring to the table at this point. Why would anyone put in the necessary 10s of millions into capital improvements if they don't even get to retain ownership rights? Talk about misaligned incentives. -

Big fan of Katz's pastrami as well. We were going to get some back in July, but something about 95 degree weather in NYC made me not want heavy deli fare. We were right across the street from Katz's, but I just couldn't fathom going inside. -

A "French" restaurant that doesn't serve wine is far weirder. -
Hardly. Did you miss the part where Tim Cook mentioned that Apple devices currently account for 91% of tablet traffic? And tablets are growing a lot faster these days than smart phones. It is valid to question whether Apple can continue to produce the next iProduct when it's time to not just do incremental upgrades to their existing products. But so far Apple is doing quite well in a post-Jobs era.

There are disagreements and then there utterly absurd results like Mean Streak beating out T-Express. -
I think there is enough new stuff to justify the upgrade from my 4S. I'll probably go for it.

Some random hilarious things I noticed in this year's GTAs: 1) iSpeed is not mentioned in the top 50 steel. 2) Apollo's Chariot is "better" than Expedition GeForce. 3) Mean Streak is "better" than T-Express. 4) The Beast is "better" than Balder.
