Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Invertalon replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Between the B&M hypers I have ridden (Nitro, Goliath & Apollos Chariot), Goliath is actually one of my least favorite. Like snoosnoo, I really did not find any "ejector" air anymore then Nitro and Apollo. There was a lot of hype over Goliath and it really did not deliver for me sadly. Extremely fun ride don't get me wrong, but just did not give me the "gitty" feeling that Nitro/Apollo give me. But I also much prefer the topography and terrain of those two over Goliath as well, so the scenery is much more interesting to me. Diamondback, IMO, looks like it will deliver the best of the B&M hypers. A nice secluded run into the woods like Nitro, the terrain hugging of Apollo, and the newer style of Behemoth. I really dig the layout and hope that it delivers a ride as good as it looks. I plan to be there opening day for that ride! Gives me a reason to actually return to that park. -- -
Theme Park Review's 2008 Asia Tour!
Invertalon replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No problems with the streaming videos either, these ones actually work for me in firefox other than the old style. So I dig it. Kawasemi looks just incredible and really hope a park decides to bring one over in the states! -
Oh and BeemerBoy, your post alone speaks for itself. Meaningless with no relevance at all.

First off, ACE is not a good value, I agree (which is why it expires next month and will not be renewed. I just enjoyed the magazines), and I have no problem with your opinion about the organization itself, but your stereotype and rudeness to the members that belong to it. That is what bothers me. It's wrong to generalize like that about any type of organization or group. I could give examples, but it is better I do not.
-
How the hell does anybody in ace ruin it "for everybody else"? Other then that holiday world accident which delayed future events, what other situations have effected you personally? I have been in ace for quite a few years and have met many wonderful, VERY normal people. I agree, there are weird people in ace, but to act like that is is all they are consisted of is ignorant. Oh do you really need to drop the "they eat too much" card? Why do YOU personally care so much about what people eat? If it bothers you THAT much, you really need help.
-
Wow. It is really surprising to see so many people join the bandwagon to bash an organization for no reason. To be so immature as to stereotype everyone as being overweight and creepy? Seriously? I just wish some of you would not jump to agree with whatever Rob/Elissa decide to have an opinion about just because it makes you seem "cool". That alone is actually more sad then any acer I have come across. Some of you really need to grow up.

Vertical Loops? B&M is yet to do one. Maybe they love pretzels too much... How about a flip at the top of the lift that puts you on your back and then into a 70*-90* straight drop. Simple, yet how fun would that be? Imagine being in that backseat being whipped over that hill and head over heals. Simple yet effective. Would be intense and great fun. Compact Dive Loops? Half pretzel/corkscrew dive combos. Approach like you would a pretzel loop and exit with a twist. Flatspins? Stealth Style. Even more AIR type flips would be more interesting, the flying to on-your-back twists into other elements. I honestly don't know what is stopping B&M from coming up with any type of creative designs, weather it is the train articulation or what prohibiting elements. But to me, the layouts are just blah, sadly. The style has SO MUCH potential it just kills me to see these layouts coming out. Now mind you, I am not saying it will be a bad ride by any means. I just find the layout uninspiring, that is all!
-
I don't know if I am in the minority, but I am really dissapointed in Manta's layout. I mean, its the same old stuff with each and every B&M flyer in a different order. Getting sick of the overuse of barrel rolls... They are such uneventful elements... When will a park and B&M design a flyer that utilizes the design! I still want to ride it, but I would not go out of my way to do so.
-
That is not my point, you misunderstood. Just because it is short is not the reason I don't like it. The ride wasn't bad, just I find it funny so many people seem so bothered by its removal. Portable or not, the ride was not impressive by any means. People are more drawn to the man who built it then the ride itself.
-
I think most people give these rides more credit then they deserve. If it was made by arrow instead of Schwarzkopf, people would not care nearly as much. The layout was bland, short, and not that fun. Train was crammed and uncomfortable (I am 6'6"). Mindbender is a MUCH more enjoyable ride. I even prefer SDL at Hershey over this. Sad to see it go, yes, but really it's not that big of a loss. The popularity and ridership was not there. Plus I am sure most of you will think "laser what?" come an announcement for it's replacement.

Stopped at the park from 7pm till close. This was our second time ever at the park, our first being RV2's opening day. Decided to come again for a few hours to do some riding. First up was Steel Dragon. Running well, one train wait. Always fun! Rode the drop tower next which is probably our favorite drop tower. Reminds us of the old gen-1 Intamin towers mixed with the new S&S and gyro drop's. It also is a bit more scary because it feels like a carnival type ride making creaking noises and other uneasy sounds. Can't beat the amazing views from the top over the lake! Next we made it back to RV2. Wait was down the ramp so it took about fifteen minutes. Got our seat in 6-2 and our ride began. Line stayed about the same all night, 10-15mins. The ride DEFINITELY is running faster then opening day (of course, with break-in). However, after the first hop over the road up until that second hill has gotten pretty brutal. We thought it may of just been our seat, but it was rough in 1-1, 1-2, 3-2, 6-1, and what we rode first, 6-2. We rode it five times all together and will say the ride is just INSANE at night. Best night rides I have ever had in a long time. Pitch black and just out of control. The second half has gotten much faster and no longer feels out of place. Excellent air all over the place and for sure moved up in my rankings since opening day, even with that right-left-right combo getting as bad as it has gotten! Still an amazing ride, I just hope they can keep up with the tracking. All in all we basically bounced from RV2 to Steel Dragon and the Drop tower. Walking out of the park at 9:55 though we hit up one last ride on the junior woodie, the Comet*? Great day at the park and had an excellent time on RV2. The night rides are just insane and worth the drive or time to stay past dusk to ride it. Amazing!

Microbes That Eat Garbage, Excrete Crude Oil
Invertalon replied to raptorcrew2002's topic in Random, Random, Random
I understand supply and demand of oil raising prices, but that is all. There is no known proof saying hey, we will run out of oil. Nobody knows just how much oil is available to us. For all you know, there can be an oil goldmine right under your house and you will not know it. Also, I remember hearing a few weeks back in an interview with one of the large oil companies, quote, gas can be fifty some dollars a barrel and they would STILL make money. Oil companies are showing record profits! Which means, they are charging more and more because WE are willing to pay for it. Oil may or not be running out, but in the end, the gas prices are not justified. Especially when these oil companies can make profits at HALF the cost per barrel that is now. Something is fishy about that... -
JZ's Six Flags Over Georgia Photo TR!
Invertalon replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great pictures, I just don't see why so many people adore Goliath so much (if you have ridden other B&M's). I find Apollo's Chariot and Nitro much better rides. Goliath was fun, but wasn't all crazy and extreme like everybody claims it is. It was quite a letdown sadly. -

Haha, where do you get your facts exactly? There is no proof oil supply is running out. -

El toro restraints
Invertalon replied to vacoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It really depends where you hold your weight, numbers really don't mean all that much. Me? I am 6'7", 265lbs, and have a 40" waistline and can ride Dragster and Millennium Force no problem. I have never been not able to ride something due to my size, only once on MF right after they changed all the belts to the point skinny people couldn't ride and enforced the 1" rule. I get on Drag. and Millie with no struggles at all. I always have wondered how El Toro would be for me though due to the type of restraints. One day, one day... -
Hersheypark's Fahrenheit
Invertalon replied to RCoasterny's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I rode it opening day around 8pm and we were not impressed with it either. It is NOWHERE close to Maverick in terms of excitement or thrills, and IMO, not worth a line more then twenty minutes or so. It was not a bad ride by any means, but it was quite tame. Excellent ride for Hershey, but ill stick to Wildcat, Lightning Racer, and Great Bear instead -
We took apart a 2001 Jaguar Engine and were explained how everything worked and the specific parts used... (bearings, sensors, etc) Interesting stuff. (Mechanical Engineering)
