OK, after letting this sink in a bit, here's a response I posted at KWC. I really think we don't have anything to worry about. -
Kids Thrown Out Of Disney World
DenDen replied to Top Thrill Dragster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Lmao, shouldn't Journalists at least have done Primary School English? LMAO! That's actually correct. If you take out all the prepositional phrases in the sentence, you get... A group was kicked out. There's your primary English lesson for today! (snicker) -

I feel like I have to attend a funeral now. I worked at this park, I spent every summer in the first 21 years of my life in this park. I'm so sad. But you know, we COULD have seen this coming, and here is why... Remember that huge expansion they announced a while back? It was based on the completion of an agreed design of the Mon Valley expressway. Those plans failed this year. The family probably thought "there's nothing more we can do with Kennywood..." and just let it go. Even though they have other parks, Kennywood is the ONE that matters most. And other than it's endless rotation of new rides, what else could they really do? Kennywood has been on the same-size plot of land for most of it's 100+ year history. This new company may have the resources needed to make those expansion plans a reality anyway. And as far as "a quick buck", Henny is no spring chicken. LOL. If it was about a quick buck, they could have sold years ago. -

I can't believe none of the older people brought this up yet... Does anyone remember the Steve Miller Band video "Living in the USA"? It was filmed at Barnum and Baily's Circus World. Originally, the "video" was just part of "Wild Rides", hosted by Matt Dillon. They decided to make the video the official music video for the song, and it played on MTV in it's early days. Unfortunately, I cannot find any youtube clips of this. -

Back in the 80's, Popcorn World was popular in shopping malls. I LOVED Bacon-n-egg popcorn. -
Wow, this is the Geauga Lake I remember, and I actually have a couple of those brochures! What scares me is I can remember the jingles they used on their commercials as far back at... "Douuuuuble looooop, and Corkscrew toooooo, only at Geauga Laaaaaaaake." Like you mentioned, they're marketing was very lacking back then. Thanks for sharing!!!!

Though RCDB is an awesome resource, it's not God. It's info is compiled mostly from user submissions, and then controlled/edited by one person/party. I've found corrections many times over the years, as well as submitted materials. South America isn't known for amusement parks, this one can take some time getting to "engrish" news. The site referenced as the source of this info is a Media Promotion Company in South America. (At least, thats what I gather, my spanish is terrible.) It's hardly someone's "homepage". Did you even check it out?

VertigoForce sounds great! And I'm a fan of Morgan steelies, since they did such a wonderful job on Phantom's Revenge. The map on the link makes the coaster look LOOOOOOOOONG, but not thrilling. Hard to tell since it's a artist's rendition, and it is a terrain coaster. The video on the site is funny though.

I have to agree with this one. I loved Flashback! AND... Steel Phantom, everyone thought it was excessively rough, but in a proper seating position, I rode it 230 times, no problem! King Cobra at PKI was one of my favs as well. It's the only stand up I've been on, but I really liked it. Even though it was a TOGO, it reminded me of a Schwartzkopf. And, lastly, though most people thought it was such a "boring" ride, I loved LaserLoop at KW. Not just because it was my first steel coaster, but compared to other shuttle-loops, I liked the strength and ridged machanical-feel to the fly-wheel version. -
3-29-71 USA- Me & Bobby McGee - Janis Joplin UK- Hot Love - T.Rex OMG! My life's theme song when I turned 18... Eternal Flame - The Bangles HOW APPROPRIATE! My gawd, seeing these kids in here with #1's like Kajagoogoo REALLY make me feel old!

I'll be doing charity work this year. Then when that's finished, have some cocktails at the bar, go home, and have a Lean Cuisine Turkey Medallions with stuffing and baked apples. Unless, of course, someone starts buying me more drinks at the bar. LOL

Kennywood 2008 Construction

Well, if you haven't read by now, Looks like Kennywood is getting a new DarkRide to replace the Goldrusher. To quote from a forum at http://hauntworld.com/haunted_house_forums/showthread.php?t=3076 The apparent company designing it is... http://www.halloweenproductions.com/ Same company that did Garfield's Nightmare. -

That's Nero's Fault. Not Windows. But, here's the work around. RUN IN XP MODE The problems I mentioned earlier this year in this thread about some software not working were fixed using this feature. Heck, my most important software, video editing stuff, claimed to require a $60 upgrade. So I installed it in XP mode, then run in XP mode, and it works flawlessly. As does everything else that wasn't "compatible". It's the 3rd party software companies that don't want you to know this, because it's $$$ for them. You can't blame M$ for this one.
