To support what Terry said... I was actually "raised" by this type of family, not once, but twice. Not because I was homeless or had evil parents, but I just didn't have that support of people like me around, nor did I live near my family at all. It just fell into place, and it's the greatest thing to have those additional parents. It really does change your life for the better. People in the gay community (especially in gay meccas) like to take care of each other for the most part. (Subtract the stereotypical bar scene...hehehe) And being that I've been blessed by this very experience, I like to pass it on as much as I can. It's a chain of caring and friendship thats been going on forever, and you don't find it anywhere else. If I had a large enough home, I would definately take someone in my home to help them adjust to a new life. But I do my part to help continue that circle of friendship. It's an amazing thing.

I dunno, I think a launched woodie is a cool concept. Replacing a wood-hungry lift hill with a steel straight-away that launches you into the chaos that only a wood coaster brings would be quite exciting.

Great report John, thanks!!! I had a feeling that the outside ride's midway woud be non-exsistant this year. Just a wild guess to lay blame either on the economy, or the fact that too many non-industry people were getting in to ride. Last year's was pretty scaled down.

The one time I got to do PF, it shut down just after the vortex. So at least I got to experience it. It really is a cool walk-thru effect. Removing it will kill it.

Without a real picture (that i can actually see on my higher-than normal resolution screen) I'll wait. From what I can see, I can just say "interesting".

Thanks Shane for the Kennywood Memories! I still had to watch it again. LOL It really was such a HUGE part of my childhood and ended up working there for 2 seasons. When I lived in PGH, everyone thought I was nuts because I went to the park weekly, all the way up until I left in 1992. I'm actually waiting to see what is coming for '09 before deciding to plan a trip up there or not, may have to wait until 2010, since from what I hear, '09 is going to be a "slow year" for KW, and they're just bringing back an old ride from storage. (See guys, the new company is just like the old guard, nothing has changed, thank gawd!!!) But I still can't wait to go back! Maybe I'll finally get to do a real photo trip report for a change.

I'm just curious to know how many Chinese have NEVER seen a wood coaster before. This is definately a great big introduction for them. This ride looks great! Thanks for posting Robb!

What a coincidence, I just watched my copy of Kennywood Memories just last week. I need to convert mine to DVD before it starts to show it's age.

OMG! I have so much to say about this latest update, I don't know where to begin! So I'll "try" to make it short! The Katapult video is AWESOME! Good find! I was lucky enough to experience the old trains of the KW Racer. It really was such a different ride, and granted, the ride today is mild, smooth and comfortable, the old trains were 10 times better, and without seat dividers, you really did slide around. I know I've mentioned this somewhere, but the old trains are actually still in exsistance at Station Square in downtown Pittsburgh. The Coney Island shot is AMAZING. When I see pictures like that, I just try to envelop myself in the image, and for some reason, its sad. But the history stuff really gets me. An update to my mother trying to find our old family photos at West View, she has 3 more boxes to go through, with no sign of anything yet. I hope they're still there.

I don't know if I'm just punch-drunk, but I swore I could have seen a video of characters with their heads off. It was a while ago on Youtube. Can't find anything on it though.

I'm not a fan either. It's obvious what's happening in the video, and more often then not, the commentator is so excited just being on the ride, they kinda sound idiotic. But I also agree with the above that I love hearing natural reaction to a ride. (screams, swearing, etc... LOL)
