Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
jarmor replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Each park is given a budget based on their performance the prev year, I think. So its not really split down the middle. as that wouldn't be fair to pump the same amount of money in to a park that did poorly as you would a park that did great. Its up to that park to use all said budget or not. It's not like one persons makes the decision as to what each park gets, they are installing coasters park by park which is evident when you see some parks not get anything. Each park has it's own business plan as cedar fair is not operated like a mcdonalds franchise. It works like a raise on a job. The company has X amount of dollars budgeted for raises. If I did better than the next man (in the parks case if my overall profits precentage was better) my raise is gonna be higher (im gonna get the bigger chunk of the budget). Then at that point it would be up to that park to decide what they want to get with said budget. This is my understanding of how some things were explained to me so don't take it as pure gospel lol... -
Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

Possibly. I love Cedar Fair and I'm pretty 2016 is going to be a BIG year for the company. Let's hope it's something MASSIVE and full of THRILLS! Based on the Previous Ouimet Years (2013, 2014, 2015) He seems to just want to go "Big" at one park (Gatekeeper, Banshee, Fury 3 2 5) and if the Rumors of a Dive at CP are true, Then that's the "Cookie" that year. Actually, from what I understand, its the parks themselves who decides what they want. Rob Decker is over design and something for the entire chain. Each park is given a budget based on their performance the prev year, i think. Its up to that park to use all said budget or not. If they don't it seems they still have that money to use. So yeah...if a park hasn't gotten that big coaster you feel deserve...blame it on that particular park lol. -

Basically the same coaster. Just mirror versions of each other with the two hurlers being slightly longer to accommodate two train operations. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

Is that a fact or an opinion... The same reason why someone who buy new tires, alternator and transmission for a car then get rid of it...I think they have gotten their moneys worth out of the investment they have made. Remember, wooden coasters are constantly being retracked, worked on. Not so weird when you gotta get it outta the way to make sure your 2016 attraction(s) is ready on time . Based on the turn around space, it can fit a slide tower or two in that area. Also, look where the station area is...its pretty much on some prime real estate to expand the county fair section of the park...where all the markers are currently being discovered. If you remove it and the abandoned FX theater...it opens up to LOTS of space. All I am saying is that stranger things have happen. With the path cedar fair is taking to make Carowinds become a world class park, the removal of thunder road wouldn't surprise me at all. Several iconic staples of Carowinds have already been removed, The plantation house and the sternwheeler comes to mind, so what makes thunder road so safe? -

Would you say getting those type parks in their current state since they both have been running for years and didn't start out with what they have now. I would first take a look at how much the rides cost in each park. -

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
jarmor replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Very, very intriguing, but I'd tend to disagree - although Shockwave is likely on its last legs, do you really think that KD would place two floorless B&Ms side-by-side on the same side of the entrance and that they would remove a ton of behind-the-scenes buildings? I don't think so - I'm betting that the Hurler closes in June. Reasoning: The Hypersonic station is still standing, and KD does an excellent job of ridding themselves of most remnants of previous rides before constructing new rides, with the exception of the Volcano, where that may at this point be difficult if not impossible given the space of that coaster's restricted area. Also, "all but confirmed" is a bit of a stretch, you need to cite your sources for credibility ^. However, I'm still convinced that 2016 is the year of the coaster at KD. I personally believe that any "ten-year contract" that BGW had with B&M (if it ever existed) started with Alpengeist and ended with Griffon. Speaking of citing sources, I was casually browsing the comment section on the included video when... The following image, which I just found, shows more of the hyper/gigacoaster's airtime hills. Speculation or not, this does not appear to be a mistake of any kind (I apologize if the picture is low-quality). I'll put the link to the image in my profile, in accordance with the Terms of Service, but seriously, WOW. Also, Grizzly and Shockwave are shown in more detail (the drawing is from a higher angle than the one on the KD website). Naturally miffed, I sent back a response, and got these pleasant replies (I omitted the profanity that he directed towards me and identifying information)... Seems legit. You all know the truth. You guys are stone cold serious about this credit thing huh... -
Thanks guys for all the info thus far. I would be flying out of columbia cae (which has direct flights to dfw I think) or charlotte clt sin e its more accessible to a lot more carriers. Hmmm...ao the shuttle may not be ready. I wonder if its worth pushing the trip back lol. Also, I've been thinking, I'm doing this alone...would the water parks be ideal being a party of one? Again, thanks guys for all the info so far!

Hey guys. I need some HELP!!! I’m planning a Texas trip and what better place to come for help than here! My primary goal is to visit SFFT, SFoT and Sea World. I would also love to check out the new wooden shuttle coaster as well as I am interested in the Schlitterbaun water parks. So, with that being said I need some tips, suggestions, game plan…etc Based off the following info. - Will be flying into Dallas and renting a car. - Looking at going mid to late June - Open to going to any park or any “not to miss” local places. - Looking at staying a week or so. So yeah, any help to make this trip as successful as it could be would be great! Thanks in advance…

3/25! Finally, media day for fury...325! Love the new entrance! Wait...let me take a selfie... The park had several live entertainment areas that day. Including an autographing panther... I'm stoked! Feels like I've been waiting forever this coaster to finally open... Some really cool stuff in that store... The market place is a nice touch as well. A big improvement over the game stalls... Feeling lucky... While I was taking this photo... Someone was taking this one! Alright let's get this show on the road... Its tough being a celeb...even the park GM can get a little starstruck lol...j/k After more speakers...the staged exploded with everyone still standing on it... I was honored to participate in an effort to raise money to leave a front row seat empty on the first train out in memory of a dear coaster friend, max cannon, who passed away. He was exctied and anticipating his first ride on fury 325. Crazy coaster buds... Its time! Man! What a ride. I'm not sure how season or unseason I am (is there some type of sorting hat for that lol lol) but fury 325 was great! Relentless speed, great airtime and just plain ole fun! Some people... Of course the world wants my opinion so let's do some interviews... Having a blast! Let's talk to this guy... Let's take a selfie...its been a while lol. Now back to fury 325... After a few more rides, it was time for me to go eat. The park showcased a good bit of what the would be having at the taste of the carolinas accompanied bt a great band. The time was winding down so I headed back to fury 325! Enjoy coaster nerds lol... Overall I had a great time. Was nice seeing old friends, making new ones and eating great food!

SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread
jarmor replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Why do we put limitation and restrictions on coaster companies? Just because someone hasn't been built by a particular coaster firm doesn't mean it cannot be built by them. There was a time were B&M and Intamin didn't have coasters over 200ft, 300ft and looka here...now they do. I think its a common phrase for companies to say they can build just about anything,...its just the matter of the park wanting it. Now I was severely sidetracked with this announcement! Did sea world really need another coaster? Im not complaining by any means but whoa...out of left field! -

I got tovthe park. At 3 yesterday for a little fun... The taste of carolinas starts well, now today... But taste started yesterday thanks to the season meal plan! Awesome chickie & petes are included! This is the longest fury 325's line got all evening... One of the food booths... The areas are in their respective stated. Pretty cool touch. Here's the event map... Poor timmy...long forgotten... Let the snapping commence! Its true...thunder road has been shut down pending demolition... The food selection is just great now...as well as the cocktail selection! You guys in the park today have fun!!! -
^ fury colors are pretty badass lol. I couldn't resist! So a week after the tour I was having roller coaster anxiety after being around all those coasters and couldn't ride...so I headed down to busch gardens! I could tell by the waits it was gonna be a long day... Is this still open? Anyway...on to montu! Ugh! These lines... One of my first coaster friend recent passed away. He loved montu, hence his online name of montumax. I'm gonna miss him... I knew I should have gotten a quick queue... That's one good tower... One good drop deserves another! Don't you just love it... Clocking in at the longest wait of the day. It was actually longer thanks to the latin tour groups who move in hurts like its the walking dead lol... Since I've experience my fair share of kumba, I decided to pass and head back to the front. Wish I could Mitch a ride on cheetah hunt! But first...let's become one with nature... Ok I must confess...the real reason I'm here is to big farewell to gwazi. Its not too often you can say goodbye to a coaster so I didn't hesitate to come down for one last ride. **tear** Let's enjoy some pictures... The crowds came out in droves... He has the spirit! I hope they can, in some form. Its hard to see but some idiot in the front seat thought it was a. Right to film himself with his handy dandy selfie stick. Still using it... It magically dissapears! So long gwazi... Gonna miss you. Wish you had taken this guys phone and selfie stick with you... This really needs to stop... Until next time...

Early in the mornings its still that way. I know we are only two weeks into the season but it seemed almost daily, while watching the cam, the season pass processing always had a line. Looks like people are taking advantage of that reasonably priced season pass!
