  1. The multi-looper is really back! What a day to be alive!
  2. Yeah, the Paris Studios park didn't even break the TEA's top 25 in terms of attendance in 2015. California Adventure certainly hasn't done as well compared to the other Disney parks, but the only two parks outside of Disney that did better than California Adventure were the Universal Studios parks in Osaka and Orlando.
  3. I'm kind of surprised. I'm totally okay with this in concept considering that the Hollywood Studios attraction is still the way it is, but I'm not sure about the potential execution. The fact that they're only closing the attraction for, let's say, six months at most makes me think like this won't feel like a new attraction when it opens. Ready and willing to be proven wrong, as always.
  4. It takes a lot of time and effort to create and use a custom train in NoLimits 2, even with the community's scripts. Why should Vekoma spend the time and money when they can just use a built-in style that looks almost the same as their own track with trains that appear to behave the same?
  5. Yeah, but you can still leverage I.P. in an edu-tainment setting. Futuroscope is a wonderful example of that.
  6. Yes, but "never been done" could mean "never been done by the park". I'm still firmly in the S&S tower camp. Three towers, all combo towers, rising some amount taller than the Kissing Tower - like Superman Tower of Power at Six Flags Over Texas. It would be the tallest drop tower complex in Pennsylvania.
  7. If they put the Vekoma trains on it it would -feel- a lot better, but it's certainly the most well-engineered Arrow I've ridden.
  8. Bingo. Djurs and Fårup seem like the kind of places that aim to please their regional markets (being Danish holiday destinations) first and foremost. They can get away with "[superlative] in Denmark and /or Scandinavia" and be perfectly fine. EDIT: Example of their advertising language for Piraten:
  9. If parks start doing exclusive Pokémon distributions (Universal I'm looking straight at you) I will seriously be done. It's 2016, you shouldn't have to make a trip to Bryant Park on Pokémon Day to catch a certain Pokémon in the game anymore. Nintendo has done so well with the over-the-internet distributions of the current games (X, Y, OR, AS) that adding an element of exclusivity to certain Pokémon Go locations would basically be a step backwards.
  10. For the record, I'm NOT against the new thing. I don't play the game, because I can't afford anything more than the iPhone 4S that I've had for several years. And I'm a Pokémon fan, too! Shame on me! I guess I'm just unsure about parks explicitly marketing themselves as places to play Pokémon Go - in fact, I'm not sure any place that charges an admission fee should have PokéStops or gyms inside the gates. The game is so much about community, and people who don't want to go or can't afford to go to these places might be left out. I'm not upset, just unsure. I'm probably crazy. EDIT: And I don't even intend to even THINK about purchasing the game (let alone a new phone for it) until I can catch a Wobbuffet, so...
  11. I'd be willing to bet that there are people who absolutely would go to [insert amusement park here] and pay the admission fee just to play the game in the park.
  12. They've been known as Mountain Creek Waterpark since they reopened back in the late 90s, they probably brought back the Action Park name a few years ago to cash in on nostalgia, nothing more. The park did technically change hands last year but I'm pretty sure it's keeping the name "Mountain Creek Waterpark" for family ties to the ski resort of the same name.
  13. I feel like the Thursday would be the better bet to have a more enjoyable day. It'll likely still be crowded as it's during the summer season but you won't feel "pressured" to do rides in a certain order, especially considering you're doing a preview night as well.
  14. The lap trays are okay for me, it's just the seats are too hard and stiff. If I put my head back against the backrest during the ride it's like I'm being shaken into oblivion.
  15. Have there been any other installations of the Ultra Tower system? Like coasterbill said, that system looks really complicated and complex. I really don't think that it would be worth it for them to install one of those, especially considering that all four of their "dark" attractions (Laff Trakk, Reese's Xtreme Cup Challenge, the 4D show and the Great American Chocolate Tour) appeal to families. The Ultra Tower seems like a much more thrilling sensory attraction.
  16. Three tower bases? Smells like an S&S complex.
  17. It's more than concept art, it's a NoLimits sim based on a plan, with a custom train to boot. I'll join the Intamin camp considering they've built Piraten and Juvelen for the park previously, and that the seats and lap restraints look like they've come straight off of Taron.
  18. I don't understand, the Adventure Trail is basically just another ropes course (and what looks to be a Ropes Courses Inc one at that). I feel like you're overreacting a bit, they're all over the place in the US. ...that being said, once again, rest in peace Adventure Mountain.
  19. Yeah, Herschend has just been pushing the Harlem Globetrotters as a brand recently. Anyone reading further into that is setting themselves up for disappointment, in my opinion. That video was just doing one trick shot in each of Herschend's major Branson attractions (Silver Dollar City, White Water, Branson Belle showboat). I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a "sequel" where they do one at Dollywood, Splash Country and the DreamMore resort. EDIT: "Star-Spangled Summer" advertisement on Silver Dollar City's website.
  20. It depends (it always depends). First off, pay-one-price wristbands are only available on weekdays during the summer season - weekends are tickets only - so if you're going on a weekend you'll be using tickets anyway. If you're going on a weekday, the wristband with wooden coasters is priced at $47. Depending on the severity of the crowds the day you go, you may not get a wristband's worth of rides in, unless you're a cool guy like me who stays until close to get as many laps on Phoenix in a row as possible (at $3 a pop, that certainly adds up after the umpteenth ride). Buying three vouchers at Weis for $48, a dollar more than the wristband, will get you $60 in tickets, and because Knoebels is awesome and stuff, tickets can be used indefinitely, so you can keep any overage for your next visit. I'd personally go that route in your situation, as $60 will easily get you at least two laps on each major coaster plus enough to take some spins on the < $2 flats like Stratosfear, Looper and the Skooters, as well as the Haunted Mansion. EDIT: The Haunted Mansion isn't on the wristband either, so if you like the Haunted Mansion, take that into consideration as well.
  21. Just because a ride is running doesn't mean it's "open" as such. If anything, the "technical rehearsal" is just as much about the ride's operators, in how they deal with the guests, the procedures for loading and dispatching the train, and other things. If they wanted to just "run" the ride they'd fill the cars up with water dummies and be done with it.

  23. Hey everyone, I'm getting tired of editing all of your threads to add the tags we use around here. As a refresher, here they are: [NL] for NoLimits [NL2] for NoLimits 2 [PKT] for Parkitect [PLC] for Planet Coaster [RCT] for RollerCoaster Tycoon [RCT2] for RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 [ORCT2] for RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 with an OpenRCT2 install [RCT3] for RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 [RCTW] for RollerCoaster Tycoon World [TPS] for Theme Park Studio Please remember to add the tag to your thread titles. It does everyone a favor in helping to search for projects using their favorite game. Yes, I'm grumpy about it, but take responsibility for yourselves!
  24. Cross-posting from the current Theme Park Review tour thread as to not hijack it... Europa Park's treatment of all its guests is one of the great models that influences my work as I develop as a professional in the themed entertainment industry. Everyone deserves to have a wonderful place to play. Thanks for being awesome, and hopefully I'll get a chance to visit Europa Park and experience it myself some day!
