The "Preview" Thread
A.J. replied to DBru's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Maybe it's...wait for it...NOT a GCI? You're all too obsessed with emulating other manufacturers' coasters. -
There's this girl I know that has an album on Facebook containing pictures of herself. 125 of them.

How about a mental deadline? The track with the highest rating before [insert time here] on [insert date here] wins.

It's the trains. If a Eurofighter such as Speed had the three row trains, the quick drop-off over the narrow crest would have unbearable forces for riders in the very back. It's the same reason why Fahrenheit has an even wider crest than the three-row Eurofighters - itself having six rows of seats to keep the forces in check for.

Fuji-Q Highlands Discussion Thread
A.J. replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can see it now - Coaster enthusiasts from around the world have waited six hours for a train with people to go through an unknown element on Fuji-Q Highland's brand new Gerstlauer coaster. They decided that it was not worth it anymore, and started to turn around and leave. But, as they had their backs turned, a train with one person in it went through the element! They scrambled back to their positions, and waited again. Now, four hours later, they're still waiting. Apparently, Fuji-Q Highland was only running one train and only letting one person on the ride at a time, and they were bleaching and disinfecting the train for five hours while it was in the station, all while hundreds of people waited for their ride. This is your Action News reporter A.J. with all the news that is news reporting live from the scene. -
Aww. I was pretty proud of Spiral Flyer. Should've put it up earlier.

The Other Stuff that should get Recognized Thread

If anything, I would much rather design Mark IX monorails than re-create the Mark VII ones (which is what I'm essentially doing with this current project, VIIIs). -

It's just a 3D model made with AutoCAD/Inventor, but it's the first project I've truly "imagineered" and it's extremely in-depth. If I knew how to get the models into RCT3, believe me, I would've done that by now. -

Can't wait until I'm off the property and I can totally reveal my Monorail project. 33 days... -
I have the terrain finished (I'm on my mobile, can't upload it for a few hours). The challenge of the challenge is this - you've been ordered (by the Grand Gardens manager) to build a roller coaster in the style of Arrow Dynamics. He says that the plot of land is great for roller coasters and that he got a good deal! The catch is that absolutely NONE of the land is flat. He wants several specific elements in the ride (let's get creative - reverse sidewinder anyone?). Basically, I lovingly ripped QR's idea (Hat tip to you!), and added in the challenge of completely uneven terrain.
-
Has it really been a month since we started the challenge thing? I mean, I can have the terrain file finished by tomorrow if I work very fast, but I think downtime in between challenges would actually be a good thing. IMO, we don't need a constant barrage of challenges and promotions one after another without a break. It's like a dramatic fist-fight. HIT HIT HIT HIT dramatic pause HIT HIT HIT.

Weeee! I knew that woodie I had lying around would come in handy someday!

I've been a part of the "I don't give a [censored] about NewElement" crowd ever since I heard about them. I have better things to do than spend three hours working on a single building in RCT2. Just sayin'.

The TPR Games Forum Moderators Random Thread
A.J. replied to robbalvey's topic in Games Forum Moderators
I have not had any experience with RCT3 custom tracked rides. I do have experience with roller coaster and flat ride models using Autodesk Inventor. I just have no idea how to make them CTRs, or else I would! The only thing I have been able to do is convert my models into .3DS, and import them into NoLimits. But, even then, there aren't any textures! Examples of what I've done: New-age Loop-O-Plane. Spin-and-spew. New-age Roundup. -

Hey Matt, you fat-headed jackass, put this on the front page! Please. -
I was under the impression that we were "professional amateurs". I just don't understand why our players would want to try and fix our challenges and contests. It's like spending precious time and money to gain up a reputation in an online virtual chat room, by dressing up your character, putting all sorts of "expensive" stuff in an "apartment", and throwing a virtual "party". It doesn't mean anything in the long run. I just like the contests because they're fun.

Wasn't he discussing his own exchange site or something using our chat room?

What about two winners - a "reader's" choice and an "editor's" choice?
-
Actually, if it's all okay, I would personally like to take the reins for NoLimits challenge presentation. I kind of like the idea of alternating. That way, the person who's not working the current challenge has enough time to come up with the next one. Also, I like the idea, and I'll make a terrain plot too. Seems simple enough. I'll have time on Tuesday to start on it. I'm in EPCOT all day today (at least, after a few hours of sleep).

If I were a few years younger, I'd jump the gun and DQ everyone involved. But, as they stand now, the challenges are a work in progress. We need to learn exactly what our members will do to win and then find ways to restrict what is dishonest. I personally think it's funny what our members will do to get their hands on a bag of crap. I already have enough crap at home to build a coaster geek fortress!

Stealing my thunder. I can confirm (and I'm allowed to tell you) that that space will be for a second sewing/embroidery location much like in the Chapeau Hat Shop. There's a sign out there somewhere, close to the Box Office Gifts (Photopass) entrance. -
