  1. Are we sure that it's going to be a launched coaster? I mean, it would be fun, but I'm hoping for a "traditional" roller coaster... ...and trains that have lap bars. Just sayin'.
  2. I'd also like to do a test run of the challenge itself to make sure it's not too difficult. If you could attach a download to your RCT2 contests post, that would be fantastic. It should only take me a few hours to make a conclusion. Plus, we can make last-minute changes if need be.
  3. All good things must come to end, and this was a truly fantastic project. Now then, who's going to be the next person to have a thread we follow religiously for two years?
  4. I hope I can get to Williamsburg soon. I haven't been there since 2007.
  5. Evolution, not revolution. That's why I'm only suggesting minor aesthetic changes.
  6. When it comes to the layout - if it isn't broke, don't fix it. But, maybe it might be a good idea to give it an aesthetic refresher, maybe more in line with how the new Park Index looks.
  7. I shouldn't have volunteered to spearhead this contest anyway. My work schedule was at its worst as we were approaching the deadline, and I didn't commit enough time to promote it. I suppose that you have to try something to see if it will work. I tried, and for whatever reason, I couldn't make it work. Maybe I should get to writing those tutorials I blathered on about. Put up or shut up, right?
  8. Mini-moderators give me gas. If a moderator is viewing a thread, and just edited the first post of a thread, and is about to quote the site rules in the next post, don't try and be the better person and quote the rules yourself.
  9. Hey! Welcome to Theme Park Review. Our terms of service state that you must have 50 posts or more to post external links - so I can't let you keep that Youtube URL up. HOWEVER - we have a great video site right here at Theme Park Review - Coastertube! Take your Dragster video and upload it to Coastertube. Then, edit your first post with Coastertube tags! Until you do, I'm going to have to keep your link off.
  10. Hey, RCT3, it's nice to see you again. Coming soon, from AJ.
  11. I lasted 476 seconds in "OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" mode. The changing background colors almost made me have a seizure.
  12. I was sitting in front of my laptop with Theme Park Review on one tab, a pre-typed "It's 6:01PM, May 21 2011 and WE'RE STILL HERE" status ready to be posted to Facebook on another tab, and an Oatmeal comic about the rapture on another tab. Win, win, and win.
  13. We have a winn-urrrr... hyyyper takes first with Countach. Jakizle gets second by one vote with Old Faithful. jarmor takes third with Katamount. And...a three-way tie for honorable mention - Vortechs, Monster Party, and Drac.
  14. Lazy posters give me gas. People are so used to shorthand internet/texting language that when they find a place that doesn't use it, they get offended. That's why even in a text message or a chat room, I am always writing in longhand.
  15. Done. Thanks for the sticky too.
  16. It's no problem. I hid the results because I didn't want anyone predicting who would win ahead of time. They'll show up around 11:00AM EST when the poll closes.
  17. Haven't voted yet? You still have time! I haven't been promoting this as much as I should be!
  18. It's my own fault. I completely forgot to ask for the thread to be put on the "announcements" tab, because I don't know how to do it myself (if I'm able to). There are 55 votes at this moment, which isn't terrible, but still short of the RCT2 contest's 77.
  19. While guests wish upon a star, the Mark VIII monorail wishes upon sunlight. Solar panels affixed to the roof of each car absorb the harsh Florida sunlight to provide a luxury to the passengers on board - HVAC. The electric motors actually propelling the train can operate more efficiently when they are not required to provide HVAC for the cars. When HVAC is not required, the eight window panels on the roof can be opened - to ventilate the cars. The opening is large enough to provide adequate ventilation, but it is small enough to prevent something - or someone - from getting through. One very large emergency exit is located at the center of each car, that is large enough for four average-sized people to climb out of at once. The doors open outward and stop at a 120 degree angle - to provide protection so guests cannot climb out and fall off the side. Handrails are located on either side of the roof to assist guests as they safely crawl across the roof. The combination of the glass panels and black-painted pillars makes for a unique wrap-around look for the greenhouse of the monorail car. Also, a very open and airy feeling is achieved for the passengers inside the car. The seats are colored the same color as the monorail's exterior. The glass roof panels and windows also provide natural light for most of the day. Stay tuned for more developments.
  20. Time to bring out the stake and some firewood.
  21. All you RCT2 ner...I mean fans, I could use some assistance! What are the .dat names of the six "required" objects that a park must have for it to be "valid"? I know which ones they are, I just need the .dat file names.
  22. I'm using Inventor. I plan on exporting it as a .dwg when I'm happy with it for my personal design portfolio.
