  1. ^ Hey, a B&M is a B&M. The closest B&M in general to me is 3 hours away, the closest hyper is like 6 hours. Plus, you can brag about having the tallest B&M hyper, and B&M in general, for that matter.
  2. Looking great! I'm crossing my fingers and really hoping this thing doesn't have a slew mechanical problems immediately after it opens. I bet it'll be just fine, but sometimes you never know with launched coasters.
  3. I believe the majority of the ride is on Millennium Island where there are no paths anyway. From the sound of it, most of the trees in Frontiertown around the normal walking paths seem to remain untouched. . . . HOLD TRAIN! A ride a Cedar Point is acutally getting a paint job?! Now if we can just get them to repaint MF, and TTD! Then I would be super happy. TTD is starting to look rather . . . pink.~Matthew Read my post above regarding someone's inquiry on new paint to T&T. Just before the STR pics. Also, anyone have any more advice on my post a few pages ago? Thanks.
  4. ^ Then why are they keeping it? They should just sell it as scrap metal and make the buyer responsible for hauling it away. Unless they have been trying to, but have been unsuccessful.
  5. I wish I was a little bit closer. 6 hours just for the day is a tad too far. If it were 4, that's do-able, but 6 is just slightly over the limit for me. I have to wait until August to ride this, when the line is probably going to be 457389573984798 miles long and it's going to be 800 degrees out. Oh well, I'll be looking forward to reading reviews, looking at PTRs and watching videos! Hope everyone has fun!
  6. Sorry for the double post, but this is something completely different. For those wondering if MF is going to get re-painted any time soon, here is your answer (I'm sure the same thing applies to Dragster also). In the newest blog entry, T&T said that MaXair got re-painted for this season. Someone then asked about MF and it's paint situation. Question: Answer: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/index.cfm
  7. ^ In the past, yes definitely, you had whole midways to yourself, but not as much now. Ever since they added "Math and Science Week" to their events schedule a few years ago (which is opening week every year), the park is completely overrun by kids...it's extremely annoying, I'll never go during opening week again as long as it's still an event. They recently added something (new within the past couple years, if not this year, I believe) the second week also called "Amusement Park 101 Week," which sounds very similar to M&S week. They are realizing how dead the park is and are adding events to attract more people during those slow times. It was nice having literally the ENTIRE park to ourselves before M&S week was added (I recall instances where we were the ONLY ONES on the pathways at times...I remember looking all around and not seeing a soul), but I could easily tell that it was hurting them, and that it wouldn't last too long before some event was added to draw more people. I wonder how bad that second, "Amusement Park 101" week will be? By the time all these "events" are over, it's already time for Coastermania and kids to get out of school. I think the dead weekdays at Cedar Point in May might be on their way out.
  8. Yeah, I went on a Sunday last year in early June and had no problems, crowd-wise. I just hate that Chik-Fil-A is closed. lol I was just concerned about it being opening weekend. Thanks for the help! If anyone else has any more ideas or advice regarding my concern, I will be listening (or reading, I guess, lol). I appreciate it!
  9. So Sunday should be good? Weather permitting, of course. The reason I ask is because I am going with a group of buddies, which includes people who have never been there before, and I don't want their first CP experience to be waiting 4 hours in line, and riding 3 things all day. I'm going to work 40+ hours a week in the summer, so weekdays are most likely out of the question. The 23rd is no good, the 30th is memorial day weekend, and the next weekend after that is Coastermania, so the 16th may be my only option. Also, another question, what about things like ride glitches, training, etc.? I've gone during opening week quite a few times and have never had any problems, but being only the 2nd day they are open, the possibility sits in the back of my mind that rides could be closed or run slowly because of newly trained ride ops who are still getting the hang of things, or perhaps bugs from the winter that still need to be worked out.
  10. Quick question about opening weekend crowds. I know Saturday, opening day, is going to be somewhat crowded, but what about Sunday? Is the day after opening day usually crowded?
  11. Some more info with pictures. Sounds like a cool idea! http://www.whirlhelicopter.com/Dragonfly
  12. I have Real's TTD track file, but all the scenery is missing because I had to do a system restore a while ago. It's pretty much just the track itself with some random scenery placed here and there...no supports.
  13. Re-release of Spartan! I recently lost my No Limits program because I had to do a full system restore. I e-mailed NL and asked them for a new one and they gladly gave me one! Kudos to the NL crew! Anyway, Spartan, a GCI wooden coaster is my favorite NL coaster that I have made and definitely my best, so I went back in, smoothed out some bits (namely the last helix part), and changed some bits so the Gs were lower. Without further ado, here is the re-release of Spartan! Enjoy! Comments are appreciated. Spartan.nltrack
  14. I've been to parks by myself and I do it all the time. Not because no one wants to go with me, but because I choose to do so most of the time. I don't mind doing it. I get to ride what I want, when I want, with no one holding me back because of bathroom breaks, headaches, etc.. One of my highlights was when I went to Geauga Lake by myself in 2007 during it's last year of operation, and at one point I was the only one on Dominator...that was a fun experience, having the entire train to myself!
  15. This is interesting that this thread was bumped because I was JUST looking at a Health and Safety Internship that Disney is offering that I am seriously considering applying for. Strange!
  16. Detailed? Really? By Cedar Fair standards, yes detailed. A B&M seat is a B&M seat. They are generally the same on all B&M hypers, regardless of theme. A sticker slapped on is a sticker slapped on...there isn't much variety involved with that, it's fairly self-explanatory.
  17. Um, they are used in practically every (if not EVERY) motorsport, not just NASCAR. Top Fuel Dragster: Funny Car: Monster Jam: Motocross: Rally Car: Even Street racing uses them: Cedar Fair finally adds some detailed theming to a ride (based on their standards) and they get criticized to hell and back for doing so. No wonder they are always hesitant to do so.
  18. Of the 10 B&M Inverts I have been on (2 B:TRs), here is how I rank them. 1. Montu 2. Raptor 3. Alpengeist 4. Talon 5. DD - Ice 6. DD - Fire 7. Silver Bullet 8. B:TR 8. B:TR 10. Great Bear
  19. Silver Star looks more like an Oakland Raiders themed coaster than a Mercedes themed coaster...and the last time I checked the Raiders were garbage. I kid, I kid.
  20. ^ Also, didn't someone hit their hand off one of Millennium Force's supports on the first overbank? You can see how they modified it and took a fairly large chunk out of it so no one else could do the same.
  21. Cool pictures! I was wondering if any track would have spine, now I know. Can't wait to ride!
  22. I'm "mainly" excited about the general height and speed. Those transitions are just a bonus.
  23. ^ Yeah, definitely. If this animation picture is what the real thing is going to be, then that's awesome! That's some serious articulation!
  24. Hmm, I wasn't aware that simply saying "maybe it's best to wait until you actually ride it before forming such a firm opinion" was so vulgar and insulting.
